is almost ready for paint!

Some of you know that my screen name StoveBolts originated from what my Dad called my 68 Camaro and it kinda stuck.

I can't believe after 4 years it's almost ready for paint! Just today I picked up a new rear body panel to be welded in and I ordered the rest of the 'stuff' I need to get her put back together.

I'm excited! I'll post some recent pictures soon! In the meantime, here is a youtube video I posted in July of 2007.

Well, it was a burdon for awhile there... so it's nice that I'm actually getting excited about it! It should be rolling and ready to drive on the streets (legally) mid November!
Actually, I just finished ordering the color! It's the 2006 GM Laser Blue. Should look very cool with the SS stripes!

Thanks Tina! Here are some pictures I took Wednesday :) He said he'll have paint on this Saturday so next week I'll post some pictures with paint lol! Ahh, another 6 weeks or so! Hard to believe!

Just an update:
The car didn't get painted as anticipated. The problem arose that I couldn't have the SS stripes with the SS Hood because of the placement of the stripes interfering and offsetting the velocity stacks of the SS hood. In short, it would have looked stupid.

So, I opted for ghost flames :biggrin Which of course means 5 pearlesents and 5 coats of clear. We should be ready for paint first part of Nov?...

I am sooo excited!
My car is painted and has two coats of clear on that he's already wet sanded! He's going to be putting the flames on next and then another 4 coats of clear before he wet sands it again and then rubs it out. He tells me the panels are straight as an arrow!

I don't know if I can stop over tomorrow and take some pictures or if I'll have to wait till Monday, but I'll post some pictures (and change my avatar) soon!

Thanks Erik!

I know it sounds stupid, but I feel like a kid with a new toy! I have not seen it yet with paint, but I'm going to try to stop by today and take a look!

There is still so much more to do after it's painted before I can take her out on the street, but at least I've finally got some motivation to get all that needs done done :)

I can't wait to see it! Will try and post more pictures as I get them :thumbsup

I got pictures!
Now, one thing everyone needs to keep in mind is this. The Car was painted and given a coat of clear coat. Then is was what we call block sanded. So, what you're about to see is the paint after it's been sanded.

The graphics will be put on sometime soon, and it will be given another 4 coats of clear.

Also, it looks like my camera lense is dirty, so they didnt' come out right... :sad

Ohh Lewis my Brother,
It's not what's going to be under the hood, it's WHAT's already under the hood :biggrin

If I can get it tuned, I be in the 500 club baby!

Ohh goodness Lewis, I know I can't even remember all the specs because I built the engine so many years ago. That being said, I've got less than 30 gallons of gas ran through her.

Let's see what my memory can drum up...

It's a 350, 4 bolt main.
10.5-1 forged TRW pistons
Balanced crank and rods.
7 quart oil pan w/ high volume oil pump.
Dart Iron Eagle heads; 215cc intake runners, 64cc chambers, 2.05 intake valve and 1.6 exhaust valves.

I've got a comp cam's Xtreem energy solid lift cam. Can't remember the specs, but I think it was around 560 lift. I don't even know what I did with the cam specs now.... Also, I have custom push rods and Comp Cam's roller rockers.

Fuel is delivered through a highly modified Holly 850 that I'll tune in for E-85 via a Weiand Team G single plane high rise intake manifold.

Lot's of other cool stuff, like fuel pump, filter, fuel cell etc. Oh, and my $200 harmonic balencer... the small stuff goes on and on and on and on and on...

Tranny is a turbo 350 with a large capacity pan with a Coen rebuild, hardened shaft, manual valve body etc w/ a 2800 rpm 10 in stall converter.

All that transfered to a 3:72 Posi rear end with custom Eaton multi-leaf springs packed with QA1 shocks and Competetion Engineering Slide a Link bars.

yeah... did a 180 on accident last year.. ooops :biggrin

Thanks theLords! She's been a long time in the making and it's exciting for me to finally believe that I'll be able to actually drive it this coming summer. It's been a lot of work over several long years. It's just nice to have it all finally start to come back together. :)

Wow that car is going to be a beauty, a good fast running shiny beauty. I am a Ford guy, but I always wanted a Chevy with a 327 in it because they could be modified to the max, or a Chevy with a 396 in it that came with 325, 350, & 375 horses. And hey Stove I have not even seen a Holly carb in years, I have to find that site I found on Holly carbs some years back. Found it
