I wasn't sure where to put this but I just wanted to give you all the update about my baptism. My pastor just emailed me and we are going to set up a time this week to talk about it and the questions that I have so,.. it's going to be happening very, very soon! :) I just thought that I would let you all know and I will update this thread once I hear back from him and have more information. Too bad that I can't post the video of it actually happening because of privacy reasons.

Great news April. Hope it's very soon. Way to go!

Me too. I still have to wait for the pastor to get back to me though and plus I still have some unanswered questions that he's going to hopefully answer so I can get a better understanding of what Baptism really means at this new chapter in my life and just how it will help me strengthen my relationship with Christ. :cross

Prayers with you :wave2

Thanks. I said this before (and I really hope that it won't turn into a long drawn out debate again) but what Baptism means to me is the next step in your relationship with God. It shows that deep in your heart you believe that Jesus loved you enough to die for you and that you are ready to turn your life over to Him. That's why I'm so against infant Baptism. It won't mean anything at all to them and they won't remember it. I believe that it should be left up to the individual if they are ready for that kind of commitment. That's another reason why I'm meeting with my pastor. I have to be sure that I'm ready, what that means, and if I have what it takes to prepare for it. (which I really hope I do)

I hope yours goes better than mine did. I was baptized in the Episcopal Church at the age of a few weeks, but that was just to appease my rich grandmother. When I was baptized as a Southern Baptist at the age of 20, my pastor - who knew me very well - managed to mangle my first name three separate times. And not only mangle it, but mangle it into a girl's name. I kept trying to correct him under my breath, but he never took the hint. It was bizarre. I don't know why, but he must have been extremely nervous.

Hey guys, I just got another update for you. My pastor just emailed me back and we are meeting next Monday at 4:30 PM. Eastern time. My actual Baptism will probably take months but I promise to keep you posted! :cross

i do think it is good to fully understand baptism before being baptized ..so how long you been saved?

Truthfully, for about a year or so. I always called myself a Christian but I didn't understand fully what that meant until I became an adult. I don't want to make the same mistake with my Baptism.

the important thing is not baptism it self.. the real importance is the new birth . first this i would ask is are you truly saved.. you said you always considered your self Christian till you became a adult . please understand this is not any of my business ..but did the Lord show you something? read a scripture that showed you something? maybe hear a message the preacher gave and the Holy spirit spoke to you? there is all kinds of ways.. the Bible says we can know we have eternal life . so ask lots of questions many things to consider once we are saved. there are many influences out there .that can lead us to the wrong path . i like how your pastor is dong this...i dont know him but sure like his method.. he does not seem the type saved baptized your on your own .he is trying to be a pastor to you that feeds the sheep

He is being more of like a friend and counselor than a pastor because the thing is that I'm not really sure how and when I got saved or if I really am like I think I am. He's going to help me understand all of that. :)

i appreciate your honesty..i want you to know this type openness is very important so many will just say yes i am and not really be...

that is what a true pastor is . ask them questions i wish i could run onto a hundred like you wanting to make sure . please keep us updated i could explain a few things in the forum..but honestly it is better to ask and get counsel in person... imo your headed in the right direction be upfront with him....have him give you scripture

Yeah all I want is to be assured in my salvation and to know what that really means. I am always, always a hundred percent honest. Especially when it comes to something as important as this. I have to know for sure and I really want to be too.

I have to know for sure and I really want to be too.
you can know beyond a shadow of doubt... that ye may know 1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. my only suggestion a head of time is pray ask God to show you .. Psalm 139:23
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. :readbible:amen:thumbsup

Oh believe me, I believe and trust that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior with all my heart, it's just my mind fills me with doubt sometimes which is my biggest enemy. I don't have a shadow of a doubt that Christ loved me enough to die for me in my heart though. The doubt in my mind is the only thing that causes me to doubt my salvation. Luckily for me there is less of it than there used to be but still.

this will always be a battle of the mind... Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. the Bible says we walk by FAITH and not by sight .. so if you know in your heart take it by faith..sounds like your dealing with devil warfare

I am. He is the one who keeps telling me that I can't really be saved if I struggle with doubt in my mind and that I won't go to Heaven. :sad

just do your best we all have doubts at times... your young in the Lord as you get older mature in His grace and knowledge .you learn to cope with it.. for me he knows what buttons to push..i then react wrong if your truly saved your sheltered under his wings of protection
