I have not talked about Joyce Meyer in a while, but I was watching her this morning, and she was talking about being raped by her father until she was 18. Joyce is the kind of preacher that talks about life. I don't like preachers who just preach the Bible, and don't add everyday life in their preaching and use the Bible to put that everyday life in perspective. Joyce makes preaching come alive, and as far as I am concerned, I don't care who does not like her, I and millions of others get a lot out of her. Why because she teaches us how to live. God has made different type preachers so that they can cover all aspects of living, and some people just can't get that through their thick heads. They think that preachers should just teach straight Bible, that kind of preaching is out of date. Preachers should teach about sex, and drugs, and the everyday life that people go through, this makes Jesus come alive in people. As I said before Joyce is a preacher who teaches us about life, she teaches us how to live, she is a honest down to earth preacher, and I just love her. And of course some of you will try and dig some dirt up on her, and call her money crazy, but that is ok, because they talked about Jesus too. As for me, I will keep watching one of my favorite preachers. Some of you people say that her way of preaching and teaching is not Bible based, but it is very much Bible based, and if you can't see that you are blind, and if you can't hear that you have stopped up your ears.

and you have no problems with her having two lear jets
only millionaires have those. i see those at the airport , as my compound is near an airport.
so i have a problem with any pastor that owns one of those, what happened to moderation and also flying like all us poor folk and so on.
 
Jason, you don't have to wait to get to Heaven to be blessed. We are children of the King, and you can be blessed with all sorts of things right here on earth, with Heaven being the ultimate prize. And so if her ministry does have 2 lear jets, so what. And there is nothing wrong with a Christian making millions of dollars, God is still into blessing people.And not all preachers who get rich are crooks.

at 2million a pop! plus saleries.and maitence! and fuel!
wwjd, how many of the poor would that help? how many dhalits saved in india? one can sponsor a missionary to india for 15.00 usd a month. millions could be reached in the 10-40 region.

yes the lord does bless,but a pastor shouldnt be like that! my pastor has two old cars and took a pay cut so that we could afford a worship leader (paid).

he is agianst that style of prosperty and usually has a list he wont listen to and strongly suggests we follow

i need to give to my church, prayer for that too happen.
but when i give i want it help those in need not for some joy riding in a private jet!

how much more so with that jets out of the way, and that is the tip of the iceberg.

she has been investigated by the irs for illegal apporations of funds(toilets seats made of ivory or other expensive materials).

lear jets require a pilot and copilot, and a flight attendent. then theres inspections, and also the mechanics that must maintain that craft.
 
Lewis, I'm not a big fan of hers. I've seen here on tv a few times, and superficially, I just don't care for her delivery. She also is clearly on the side of the Prosperity Preachers fence. She's not nearly as bad as Osteen and others.

I hope you don't buy into her Prosperity Preaching, but I've heard her have some other good stuff.

On the surface, I don't know if a female preacher will ever sit very well with me. That's just my personal taste. :nod

Rom 16 Salute Andronicus and Junia, my relatives, and my fellowprisoners, who are prominant among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.

Junia is a womens name and there have been many attempts to hide that fact in bible translation over the years by some parties.

Judges 4:4 Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, was judging Israel at that time.

'Judging' meant ruling. Israel was overseen by 'judges' or servants of God during this period. That was before the nation instated a monarchy, against Gods wishes.


I like Joyce Meyer personally but I don't like prosperity teaching, and she's too much a proponent of it for me. But I do like her. She has a lot of common sense and a lot of strength for a woman. She says a lot of helpful things. (I like her hubbby too. Good man.)
 
PS. And I have no problem with a full time minister of the gospel being well off, the bible tells us that we can 'earn a living from the gospel'.

In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.

There's nothing that says that shouldn't be a good living. Channelling funds meant for the preaching of the gospel into your own lifestyle is deceptive if a party is guilty of that and the giver is unaware. But we don't know whether this lady (or any other famous televangelist) does this. I think most people are just happy to trust her.

BUT, I do have a problem with celebrity christians, or preachers that have become enthroned upon the gospel through the gospel. That bothers me. Because that can only happen at the expense of other christians.
 
I guess what we have to look at is not all preachers are for all people and who one may like another may not and who ministers to one is not necessarilly the other . I also think that she is more for women than men and if you listen to her testimony and her past you will really get to see and hear miracles that have taken place in her life and it is only God who can transform some one like that .

Yes, she is down to earth and has so many teaching books and tapes and conferences and I just went to one of her conferences here and learned so much . I have read many of her books and the one that impressed me was " The Battlefield of The Mind " .

Suffice to say , I don't think it is my bussiness to see what she has and what she does not have but for me to see how the Lord is blessings her ministry and that people are coming to know the Lord and isn't that the objective of a Christian Ministry ?

We will always have the media looking at the negativity and trying to tear down . That is their job but for me to look beyond all the accusations and see a lady who loves the Lord , doing HIs will that He has called her to do and being aware of all the goodness she is doing with her monies generated all over the world , That good enough for me .
 
So, we should base everything on emotions and feelings? I don't, I base what I know on facts. Joyce is a false teacher, the evidence is in, and folks are too blind and deaf to hear and see.

i will agree with this, and that is the biggest problem for charismatics.

theres a verse that she uses to support the prosperty gospel, in mark

" theres no man that given up life, endured suffering that shall not recieve blessings now in the world to come"

that is a paraphrase, but that really says this, serve me and you suffer but the lord will bless you. lose your family, the new one you have became a part of is even bigger and better, lose a house or home. the homes of the saints are yours( the early church shared if need be)
 
Yes, not all preachers are for everybody, God has made preachers to be different, Joyce preaches about everyday life, and connects it with the Bible, she preaches about things that people go through in our everyday lives. I don't care what these people say about her, she is a good Christian women, and a mighty woman of God.
People are always trying to bring other people down. I love revolutionary bold preaching, it keeps us on our toes. And most people can identify with that type of preaching except for some. My thing is, if you don't like her type of preaching, and you think that she is a fraud, don't look at her TV shows, that's all, and you won't have her to worry about.-

I agree wholeheartedly . Like I said who are we to cast the stone ? If she or others is bringing in the unsaved by whatever means and she is called of God to preach and teach then I will never be the one to criticize .

I am thinking of this little saying " People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones " :yes
 
Lewis & Dusty, would you two agree that she is of the "prosperity preacher" ilk? I've never read her books and don't watch her a lot, so I'm not the strongest judge of her ministry. From what I have seen, she goes there. Not to the extent that someone like Joel Osteen goes, but she does appear to go that way.

Part of my feeling about her preaching is personal. Her style just doesn't connect with me. But I could overcome any personal preferences with her style if I didn't hear the prosperity message from her. The extreme preacher of this kind is very destructive to some honest believers, IMO. But that's a whole other topic that I've been a part of before.
