I guess I'm out of touch. Should I have one of these? What is the point or purpose, really? Is it popularity? Keeping in touch? Meeting people?
I have a hard enough time keeping up with "real" people in my life.

I have God, church, work,2kids, 2dogs, karate,dance, judo,baseball games......and I have to sleep sometime. :)

...and what the heck is twitter????? :crazy

:rolling

I started a MySpace once and I used to have a Xanga. I don't use them now. They're good for keeping in touch with friends and family, but I think they take a lot of effort to maintain.

I"ve got a facebook. No offence to anyone but myspace is terrible. The only social networking site that is decent has to be facebook.

Facebook, myspace and other social networking sites help you keep in touch with your family and friends. It's more of a younger generation thing, where we like to just 'be connected' all the time. As I said, it seems to be a younger generation thing, so lots of older generations (gen x and baby boomers etc) just don't seem to get it.

"Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question" - taken from twitter.com

I've joined different groups and still don't know why; I don't use them. I know next to nothing about computers, and I'm barely functional on one.

Email works just fine for keeping up with friends, but some people like all the jumble of things like facebook or Myspace. I have both but I rarely use either.

LOL Nick, I love your candor. I'm a gen x'er and I think I "get it" but I don't really want to! I come from the days of pagers beeping every two seconds to keep in touch and now texting on cell phones, which comes in handy but can get annoying. Social networks are good for other things, though, like finding old friends and linking people that might not normally talk in person. For instance, my daughter started talking to a girl from her school on My Space that she had never spoken with in person. And she and my sister have grown close through MySpace even though we live only a few blocks from her. It's another outlet.

Yeah, I've come back into contact with some old school friends through facebook.

Some peoplel ike leading busy lives - that's me.
Other don't, and that's fine, but if that's the case then they may not suit social networking sites.

:lol Yeah, well I like to tell it like it is - no point in sugarcoating it.

Well wow...umm I have both myspace, facebook, a profile on christian.com, yahoo 360, twitter, bebo, myyearbook, plurk and pagii. Of course, I only use myspace, facebook and the christian.com one. I have found so many people Ive lost touch throughout the years. I like that you can update people quicker on your life on facebook and have one email w/many people on there too. I like the myspace so I can leave cute comment graphics lol! The christian one is to help me find others who love the Lord as I do, but it's not too active sadly. (or that I've seen at least)
