i've been approached by a group and they are spreading the gospel to me...and they introduced me this recovery version bible and the local church movement...what they are teaching and what they practiced seems right to me(so far)...but there are people out there who are worried that it is a christian cult..and with some net research there has been some unsettling results...

Without knowing any specifics about it you should at the very least test what they are "witnessing" against what the bible teaches. If anything does not match up then I would not pursue it any further.

The old saying is very good in this case: if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it is most probably a duck.
 
Don't know what they believe, but if it's true it will stand up to intense questioning and have lots of proof. Think critically, and no one will deceive you.
