Anyone have any insight on Nephilim. I am just now learning of this. They were giants that roamed the Earth and is talked about before the flood in Genesis. Sons of God (fallen angels) that took on human form then bread with women and then created Nephilim. I beliee this was one of the reasons God wiped out the Earth because the devil was changing human DNA and creating these beings and it definitely did not please God. I'm confused as to how Goliath came about though if he was and offspring of Nephilim..? Maybe there were more that came down after the flood...? The book of Enoch talks of this, but is not included in the Bible. I was reading it yesterday and it is very interesting. I'm wondering if it's wrong to even get into this stuff, it's just fascinating to me. I almost think that Norse mythology might have a base in the Nephilim. Thor.....

Another theory, which I strongly agree with, is that the Nephilim created the ancient egyptian temples. Think about it. These dudes were half angel half human so most likely they had knowledge of what comes after death and they were a lot smarter about construction than any man. Maybe they even had powers, but basically I think that if you have a group of 14 foot tall dudes their strength is probably insane. I'm sure they could lift those stones. Also, the pyramids are the exact alignment of Orion and where the Nile river runs it matches up exactly to the Milky way. What i'm trying to say is if you superimposed the milky way and Orion onto the ancient Egyptian temples and the Nile it would be an EXACT match. It just makes sense that these pyramids were created by something not human, something that understood this world a lot better than we do.

What do you guys think?

NEPHILIM (Nehf' ih lihm) Transliteration of Hebrew word related to verb, "to fall," and often interpreted as "aborted ones." KJV translates as "giants," following the earliest Greek and standard Latin translation. Nephilim were on the earth both before and after the sons of God married the daughters of men (Gen. 6:4). The existence of Nephilim joined with marriages not sanctioned by God set the tone for God's condemnation of human wickedness, preparing for the flood. In Numbers 13:33 the spies Moses sent to investigate Cannan, feared the Nephilim, who appear to have been of large stature; hence interpreters have labeled them as giants. Another Hebrew term (raphah) is translated giants more often. See Anakim; Rephaim; Sons of God.

NEPHILIM (Nehf' ih lihm) Term probably derived from the root "to fall" and meaning either "the fallen ones" or else "ones who fall [violently] upon others." At Genesis 6:4 the term designates ancient heroes who, according to most interpreters, are the products of sexual union of heavenly beings ("sons of God"; compare Job 1:6; 2:1; 38:7; Pss. 29:1; 82:6) and human women. The account illustrates the breakdown of the God-ordained order separating heaven and earth (Gen. 1:6-10) and specifying reproduction "each according to its kind" (1:11-12,21,24-25). God intervened to reestablish limits inherent in creation (6:3; compare 3:22-23). At Numbers 13:33 Nephilim designates a race of giants descended from Anak against whom the Israelites appeared as grasshoppers. See Sons of God; Rephaim.

ANAK, ANAKIM (ay' nak, an' uh kihm) Personal and clan name meaning, "long-necked" or "strong-necked." The ancestor named Anak had three children: Ahiman, Sheshai, Talmai (Num. 13:22). They lived in Hebron and the hill country (Josh. 11:21) before being destroyed by Joshua. Their remnants then lived among the Philistines (Josh. 11:22). These tall giants were part of the Nephilim (Gen. 6:4; Num. 13:33). Arba was a hero of the Anakim (Judg. 14:15). The spelling Anakims puts the English plural "s" on to the Hebrew plural "im."

I don't believe that the Nephilim are offspring of fallen angels.

The Bible tells us that in Heaven we will not marry or be given in marriage but be as the angels. This tells me that they are not interested in relations and would not be sexual beings. I cannot equate the demons with having sexual organs. I do need to look further into this and do some more study on the subject though.

This is a very deep bible study, and I'm hoping to learn more from reading the posts in here.

Funny you should mention ARBA was the hero of the Anakims.
The word arba is the number 4 in Hebrew, and there are MANY
associated mysterious definitions attached to all the numbers, in the
Hebrew language.
Here's what I found, about the number four, or, arba:
http://asis.com/~stag/godcount.html
FOUR - Denotes creative works, and always has reference to the material creation, as pertaining to the earth, and things "under the sun", and things terrestrial.

The symbolism of the number four was based on the contemplation of the quaternity as found in the universe, which included both heaven and earth (comp. Job xxxvii. 3; Isa. xi. 12; Ezek. vii. 2; I Chron. ix. 24; Dan. viii. 8.) The number four connoted heaven as the throne of God.

The Holy of Holies was in the form of a cube, and the Holy Place was a double cube in length. All the vessels of the Temple in Jerusalem (except the candlestick) were square. According to Ezekiel i. 26-28, the number four symbolized the divine revelation, while in the view of Philo it was the number of complete harmony ("De Opificio Mundi," pp. 13-15).

Another source of thought, not sure how valid:

Another highly controversial source:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numerology
Four derives its significance from various sources. It is the first "composite" number; that is to say, the first number that can be created from multiplying numbers other than itself and 1, in that 2 X 2 = 4. The simplest solid object  a tetrahedron  has four sides; hence four denotes solid matter in general and the Earth in particular, as the Earth is a solid object bounded by four cardinal points (North, South, East and West). Time is another concept strongly associated with four, on the grounds that the year has four seasons and the month has (roughly) four weeks; Christian-oriented observers also note that the life story of Jesus is told in four gospels, each of which is in turn linked to one of the four classical "elements" of fire, air, earth, and water. Specifically, the Gospel according to St. Matthew is associated with earth since his Gospel stresses Christ's incarnation in earthly form; water is accorded to St. Mark since his Gospel emphasizes the importance of baptism, fire is ascribed to St. John since his Gospel is the most "spiritual," and air is assigned to St. Luke since his Gospel is the longest. The association with Earth means that four symbolizes being practical and "down-to-earth," while the fact that four is the first composite number is linked to the idea of an other-directed, "composite personality" that takes cues from different and often conflicting sources, leading to fiercely independent, "out-of-the-box" thinking. In the Jewish religion, the number four is significant because of the Tetragrammaton, the four-letter name of God which is so holy it is never spoken.

To elementary number symbolism we add the Old Testament, in which everything is numbered. Sometimes the numbers have symbolic meaning, but the numbers are often used, it seems, just to make the narrative more concrete, saying, for example, that "Solomon built a house 100 cubits long"instead of "Solomon built a really long house."

Umberto Eco says that much number symbolism can be attributed to the passage from the Book of Wisdom of Solomon, from the OT Apocrypha. XI, 20.

Four Cardinal Points
The Old Testament has many references to the four cardinal directions, such as in Isaiah 11, 12:
"And he shall ... gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth."

and Ezekiel 7, 2:
"An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land"

The point I'm making is there is so MUCH more to the Bible than we take time to learn.
The depth of the wisdom of God is endless. What are we doing, wasting time with other trivial pursuits?
Has anyone ever gone as deep into the Bible as is humanly possible?
I trow not.

This is a subject that has interested me for a long time. Although I have not spent much time studying it, and it does not appear that there is a large amount of info in the bible it I would like to learn more about it.

It appears to me that God was not very happy with this, and there were instances where God appeared to go out of his way to bring destruction to these "Giants". The land of Canaan appeared to be inhabited by extremely large individuals and of course Goliath could have been a descendent - if there were more instances of this after the flood.

Its obvious that angels have there own free will, and not all are/were happy with the set up "up there". I am sure there is so much that we do not know about God/heaven/demons/angels that it would bogel our minds....which is probably why few of us know.......
