    In reading over some threads there is no doubt that some people have some very intimate questions. Many are in the area of sexuality. I think that it would be good to have a forum area where the poster can post a question and no one else can see it or the answer except the person/moderator in charge of that area who will answer it. This way the eyes and minds of the young are not so violated and questions can be asked in total privacy. Also posts can be moved there that fit.

    I don't think that a forum on here can be made "private". And if just the poster and moderators could see the question, how would it get answered? The purpose of a forum is to have a place for people to "Discuss".

    All sexuality topics are to be posted in the parenting and marriage forum. That forum is intended for adults.

    I've learned not to be ashamed or embarrased to ask such questions. Why be ashamed of something that God himself created?

    God Bless! :angel:

    sillynikki,
    actually I have seen boards that have the type of setup I mentioned. I am not sure how they are done except that it works off the cooking on that persons computer. Only that person on that computer can see his own post and any response from a moderator or designated forum responder.

    As to not being ashamed of sexual topics that is fine. It was not about being ashamed. However there are some very sensitive questions and the young do not need to be seeing them in my opinion. I would not be ashamed to have sex with my mate, but I would not invite my children or the neighbor childsren in to watch or even discuss the details in front of them. The same applies with some topics. They need to be in private in my opinion. That was the reason for the suggestion.

    I agree with you that some of the topics are too mature for children. I just hate to have a moderator say that talk is no longer allowed because I know there are people that come here asking genuine questions. Sure, there is the occasional immature post that you can tell someone posted just to see what kind of reply they'd get, but not that often.

    I know what you mean about the private folder/forum. I was on a forum and certain folders/forums could be made private. The only problem with that is how do you honestly know the person trying to get access to the private forum is really an adult? It's kind of a no win situation....

    I am not doing a good job of explaining this by the last question that you asked;
    "I know what you mean about the private folder/forum. I was on a forum and certain folders/forums could be made private. The only problem with that is how do you honestly know the person trying to get access to the private forum is really an adult?"

    In the private forum, age has nothing to do with it. It is a forum that simply has a title (perhaps "sensitive issues forum") like every other forum. When anyone posts in the forum no one else can even see the topic except the moderator who will answer the question and the one doing the posting. A cookie keeps each persons question and the moderators answer hidden from everyone else. No one else sees the question or answer. For all general purposes the that forum will always look empty except to the one posting a question and then they will only be able to see their own post, no one else's.

    Actually, private forums are quite common. One board I moderate at has one that only the moderators can get into so we can discuss the behavior of posters and issues like reprimands and (occasionally) banning without causing a furor among the general population.

    This forum does have private forums just for the mods. What you are talking about though is a little different. I don't see a need for it at this time. If someone has a question they aren't comfortable asking in public, they can always send a private message.

    That is too complicated. The poster is left with ONLY the admin or mod giving advice, excluding the advice of all other members. These type of questions could be asked in the 'Parenting and Marriage' or 'Christian Talk & Advice' forums. That is probably the most appropiate place for them.

    Private forums are very possible with the PHPBB software. But then we have a problem. The admin would have to have create a usergroup AND decide who to add to this group. This is the tricky part...it now becomes an exclusive group, based on maybe age, etc. And it would be a bit of a task to manage such a list.
