Gal. 5:19-21
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
The works of the flesh is; the manifestation of the sin nature.
The Mind given to Nature constitutes flesh and this is the manifestation of the sin nature. You cannot see nature so how do we know it exists? By it manifesting itself.
If not for the manifestation of the sin nature by flesh, we would not have known it even existed.
God gave Israel the law to control these manifestations of the sin nature, and prevent a mind that would become totally reprobate.
A mind that would not want to retain the knowledge of God, Hebrews 1:28
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
When those under the law failed to obey the law they did not know it was their sin nature that was manifesting itself. This is what Hebrews calls a God to people relationship, Hebrews 8:10
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
This Covenant belonged exclusively to Israel.
So the law in its simplest form, was given by God to Israel to guard the Mind against the sin nature.
How did others live their life; good morals, good rules, good regulations, and so on, or nothing at all.
This is how the world is still living, it makes you acceptable in society, but not to God.
This is where the church needs to be warned, just because Society is living what seems to be a moral or even Godly life, don't be fooled into changing your message (to fit the times some purport) to fit the world. Prosperity does this, people are more prone to a better Living standard to keep a certain lifestyle.
Well what we are seeing in the world today is the curtain pulled back somewhat and getting a look at what a reprobate mind is possible of doing, God has a way of exposing man to his folly and need of a savior.

So now for the believer that does the same thing, it does not come from nature.
The nature we have is Christ, do you believe it is Christ that does the sinning in the Believer, I think not. Every sin you commit now will manifest the same as when you were in the world, through the flesh, but it comes from mind only, the memories, the residue and leftovers of the old man nature syndrome, 1 John 1:8
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
It is not Christ doing the sinning, they are soul/mind-sins on the Believers part, 1 John 3:9
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
