And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the world.

Then He made the earth round and laughed and laughed and laughed.

We're supposed to love our wives as Christ loved the church, which means we are to serve them sacrificially, even to the point of laying down our lives for them, if that becomes necessary. You'd be amazed how much better your relationship with your wife becomes when you start looking at marriage in this way.

From Genesis through The Revelation we see a picture, a type, of what marriage should be.

An obedient wife is a picture of the obedient church. A loving husband is a picture of Christ.....

Ha, I don't care who you are, that's just funny :toofunny

...and we are told also that husbands should love their wives as Christ loved the church (Eph. 5.25); what a high standard expected...! Blessings.

Just think how wonderful it would be if all of mankind lived by God's standards....

The Scriptures are not as restrictive on wives/women as some may think... the example of a Godly wife is found here...

Pro 31: Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

reba;

Great passage!

Reminds me, too, of Lydia in Acts, a seller of purple, 'whose heart the Lord opened'.

Blessings.

The husband is to be the Spiritual head of the house as he is guided by the Holy Spirit. The wife is to stand beside her husband as a helpmate and is not beneath her husband nor above him.

For his glory: It's a true joy to see husband and wife united in Christ and in their lives together in this way.

It's sad for Christian wives, whose husbands aren't believers, too.

Blessings.

Well said!!! In a marriage we need to help each other fulfill our part of the marriage covenant.

Around here if you even mention Eph 5 to a woman they flip out at you.

There are also very few intact families here. This is a very worldly place :sad

People who flip out about Eph 5 do so because they don't understand what submission means. Submission has nothing to do with being abused, degraded, and dictated to. It means being led in love, sacrifice, and kindness. The reason many women don't like the word submission is because cavemen use it as a form of abusive control over their wives. Real men lead through love and by example, not threats or abusive control.

It's ironic that some would view any woman dressed in silk and purple and dressing her daughters in scarlet as anything but "virtuous".

I agree. People don't understand what submission means and often view a wife as having the same status of a child or slaves. Submission is different than obedience.

As for the OP...

:biglol That was funny!!!!

Yeah, I split at the seams every time I read it :toofunny I think we all need a good laugh once in awhile :biggrin

It's about this time that I say to my wife, "Get me a beer and chicken pot pie woman!" Ha!

For you serious folk out there, that's a joke ;)

Steve had the DJ play "Put Another Log on the Fire" at our wedding reception. It was really funny... looking out over our guests and seeing which one's "got" it and which were beginning to feel sorry for me. :lol

What I'd like to know is , what is the proper Christian method of disciplining a disobedient wife? :pray

There isn't one.... she's a wife, not a child or a slave...

A husband loves his wife... he doesn't "discipline" her as if she were an errant child.
