Hell is the beginning of the eternal consequence of Christ Rejection that is applied to an unbeliever after they die.
For no other reason is it required or applied by God.
A person does not go to hell for sinning, they go to hell for rejecting the pardon of their sin,... so THEY pay for this rejection of pardon and imputed righteousness, (hell)(lake of fire) instead of letting Christ die for their sins (atonement) and thereby HE pays for them instead... by not only dying for their sins but also by giving them for free His very righteousness.
The issue is "righteousness", and you cant go to where God exists to live with Him unless you are as righteous as He is, and you cant be as righteous as He is unless He Himself recreates your spirit man as "the righteousness of Christ" via the "imputed righteousness of Christ", which of course IS Salvation, Redemption, Atonement, = to be born again, or redeemed.

"Reaping and sowing" is the earthly consequence of sin that affects both the Christian and the Unbeliever, universally.
The Blood Atonement solves the (Eternal judgment for sin) situation for all who are saved, but it does not remedy the 2nd earthly (consequence for sinning) situation.
This is because the spiritual law of "sowing and reaping" is still in effect on earth right along with being Justified by Faith as a free gift. (Atonement).
They walk hand in hand in this world regarding their application for all.
So, while its true that the eternal consequence of a person's lifetime of sinning is atoned for on the cross, (once and for eternity), its also true that the literal deed reaping consequences on earth for what we choose to do, bad or good, is in effect for as long as we are breathing and making choices and this world keeps turning.
Choices are seeds. Deeds are seeds planted in the earth realm that have spiritual consequences and these deed seeds eventually harvest for good or for bad on earth in our lives regardless of the person's justified or non-justifed standing with the Almighty.

As a believer, (a blood bought justified Child of God), you're already eternally forgiven for your next sin (work of the flesh) , but you are not going to escape the consequence of it on this earth. (sowing and reaping).
This is why a preacher who was a whoremonger 30 years ago for a month, then stopped, sees his ministry destroyed when all is uncovered 30 years after he stopped.
The Paradox is....he was always forgiven of the sin, but he was always going to reap what he has sown at some point.
You can repent and you can plead for help, but your deed is a seed and the seed has a consequence....it has a harvest time.
God may deliver you from the consequence, he may save you from the harvest.. sure and hopefully, but, the law of "sowing and reaping" will not be set aside for anyone, ever.
Have i done things since i was saved, where the Lord God himself protected me for the consequences, yes.
And He's done the same for you.
But in all cases, the consequence was going to come, and that He didnt prevent, tho he certainly so many times in His great mercy, delivered us from the worst of it.
But not always.....so, dont test His mercy.
Bad idea.

A stone dropped in a pond creates a wave, and a deed done by a person creates a secondary situation, which is the consequence of the deed........this is to reap what you sow.
This is very important to understand, as without this being comprehended correctly, a believer will not rightly divide the New Testament meaning of "Grace" as provided as an eternal consequence of the Cross.
Here is how to understand it ...
Not going to hell after you die, is the consequence of being saved, its the eternal consequence of the deed of Justification by faith, = redemption.
Eternal Life is the reaping of the faith you sowed on earth that is accepted by God to justify you and pardon you because of the Blood of Christ being shed on the Cross.
Sowing and reaping is also the end result on earth of all deeds done.
Eternal life with the Father is the end and eternal result of the SOWING of your faith..= the Blood of Christ being applied to your sin and the righteousness of God himself being imputed to you, = REAPING justification and eternal life.

Perhaps you've known someone who teaches this type of theology.....
"""Well, you cant live in sin and be a Christian.."""
This type believer has not understood a distinction = that the Cross satisfies God's Judgement in eternity for sins, yet, does not free the earth bound from the consequences of daily "sowing and reaping".
The best way to understand the idea of a "sinning Christian" is very simple....they can lose everything but their salvation, as this is the earthly consequence of their lifestyle that does not effect their eternal justification or status as a redeemed Joint Heir with Christ.
In other words...if a Believer chooses to live in sin, then the earthly "sowing and reaping" spiritual law will destroy their lives first, and them eventually, but it wont affect their redeemed born again Sonship position in eternity, as in eternity they have an advocate with the Father and a blood atonement that is not based or sustained on their earthly behavior AFTER they are saved.
Every true believer who is honest within themselves, at some point will realize that if the Blood of Jesus does not forgive future sins, and thereby all sin, then its useless....ITs ither all, or its nothing.
The Blood of Christ Atonement ither keeps you saved based on its own authority and power to do so, or it has no power to save at all.
Many believers have not this understanding of Grace, and that is why they are not skilled or complete within their most basic understand of the first principles of soteriology.

Regarding salvation,.... Your living in sin or not, subsequent to your salvation..= Understand that according to God's Grace your lifestyle does not define you as a born again child of God in His eyes, as only the Blood of Jesus and His imputed righteousness verifies our Sonship position on our behalf in God's eyes.
The atonement is the eternal consequence provided by the imputed (born again) righteousness which Jesus alone provides for us for free by death and resurrection (through faith.
Never are we by deeds or confession or any other "self" motivated method able to atone ourselves back to relationship with God, or keep ourselves atoned.
Atonement is the domain of the one who provided it for free.
Thats not us.

So, while Grace via the blood atonement once and for all delivers all believers from being eternally judged for sin after they die, it does not omit or remit or otherwise exclude anyone, Christian or Non, from the earthly consequences of sinful deeds or thoughts.
You plant a seed of sin, you harvest a world of hurt.
Done deal.
Simplified..... The Blood of Jesus eternally rescues and pardons us from the eternal consequences of our lifetime of sinning, = that is "Grace" "Redemption", "Salvation".
However, the Blood of Jesus does not and never will excuse or omit anyone from the earthly consequences of what all will reap for what all have sown, and that is because the spiritual law of reaping and sowing is in effect on earth, and remains so.
To Reap faith in Christ is to gain heaven and never lose it.
To Reap seeds of sin is to gain misery, loss, and regret....on earth.
