Consider this, you have an illness that can manufacture any sensory form of information.

Such as:

Auditory
Visual
Taste
Touch
Smell
&Feel

These are the 5 + base senses we all take for granted, but my brain can create false readings.

Here's my question:

God has to be met by one of these sensors in order to communicate with me, but how can I trust my sense's when they can operate as invisibly as God.

Can you perceive the dilemma I face

God is supposed to communicate with me via one of my sensors invisibly.

A psychotic affected mind can manufacture sensory information invisibly.

And don't just say the usual ok, thank you.

(1) Does God have to be met with the 5+ base senses?

The answer is no. Here's why:

John 6: NKJV

63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.”

How does God accomplish this?

John 3: NKJV

5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

(2) Does God effect a believer using the senses.

Answer: Yes. This is how He builds faith in the believer....answered prayer.

I did not understand what I considered a fascination of some with fasting and prayer. However, in a faith building moment of close to two weeks, God taught me. I was at the height of my chemotherapy and could not keep down a bite of food. So I stopped eating about day three as I knew it would just be 'refunded.' I could barely keep fluids in me, however was able to sip just enough water to sustain me. During that time I could not look at anything that glowed. The sun, a light in the room, a computer screen. I found it hard to even read my Bible or a book. Every sense I had was sharpened. All I was able to do was pray and when I did I praised God for allowing me this time to be 100% with Him. It took that almost two week period to finally realize "Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear?" (Mark 8:18)

Which the apostle Paul elaborates on here:

1 Corinthians 2: NKJV

13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

Having the mind of Christ....Important point. We do not accomplish such looking for the inner 'good' in ourselves burning scented candles and meditating. The changing of the mind and heart is a sovereign act of Grace from God. He gives us the grace and understanding to realize we are a destitute damned sinner in need of His forgiveness and deliverance. On a relational human understanding? It says those who seek Him and call upon His Name (Isaiah 55:6) will not be put to shame (Psalm 25:3). The apostle Paul explained this in more detail in Romans 10:

Romans 10: NKJV

5 For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.” 6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, “‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Now of course you asked how God could be reached with the human senses. What I provided is how God reaches us in Spirit and in Truth. What happens to the senses once God has laid His Grace on a redeemed soul? We are a new creation:

2 Corinthians 5: NKJV

16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

We become a new creation. The old things pass away and all things become new. What does this have to do with the senses? Not until God did this miraculous transformation did I see His Creation the way He intended. No longer was sunrise and sunset just a way to tell time. It was now a Painter's canvass. No longer did I look up at the night sky and say "wow stars and constellations." It was now a mosaic of a Master Builder. I started to realize what all my senses were created for. To appreciate what God created and to Glorify His Name.

Hope this helps you see the senses from a born again (born from above) Christian perspective.

I see your dilemma.

In order to understand it I would have to ask why you say God is supposed to communicate with you via one of the ways you listed? I've personally never heard of this is why I ask.

There all the bases senses one has to interpret any information, I can't see how the spirit of God can communicate with someone deprived of any sense.

So when the spirit of God talks to you in it's voice, is that not an internal auditory stimulation?

Or when the spirit of God moves you in praise or worship, is that not an emotional stimulation?

Or when the spirit shows you something spiritual in your mind or outside of yourself, is that not a visual stimulation?

A schizophrenic mind can create such thing's and more.

He is the potter we the clay... He knows the number of hair on our heads... Man tries and tries to put God in the box that suits the man..

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

A bunch of Bible verses won't cure me reba, the doctors that help me would be out of a job if they approached my illness with bible verses.

The important thing to understand when you feel God is communicating (however it appears to happen) with you is to test it against the Bible. Many times God will illuminate something for you that helps clarify something in scripture. However, Satan will also try to tempt you in the same way, which is why you always test any impression you are getting against what the bible teaches. If it is biblical, then you know it is from God, if not then you should dismiss it.

Interesting. I see the possibility here that the OP (using senses to reach God) may just be considered a false dichotomy from the perspective of God (as we know what is revealed in Holy Scriptures). As reba pointed out in an eloquent manner.

Yeah, I tried that.

These are some things the voices have lead me to:

I let myself be robbed (That lines up with the bible)

I let myself be punched and had my nose broken (That lines up with the bible)

I gave away all my money once (That lines up with the bible)

I let people mistreat me generally (That lines up with the bible)

There are lots of other things the voices say that line up with the bible, some are ok. Other things are down right insane.

Sounds like you misunderstood what was being imparted to your, or possibly being led astray. When following biblical teachings you are to be more loving and giving, but not to the point of being a door mat. God will never put you into a place/situation where He will not see you through.

Consider that any trial that God puts you through will end up making you stronger in faith on the other side.

Well thanks for that. I'm sure reba can confirm if we have multiple accounts here, which is what a schizophrenic may do.
There are plenty who come here to play games... We have a number of folks that God has healed one way or another of many things... So many want to act like God ignores them when in truth it is mankind ignoring God...

As I pointed out in post 2 if one does not have a discerning mind such as you list above will not be pleasant and frankly fruitless. Jesus also said to cut off our hand and pluck out eyes if they keep you from the Kingdom of God. Hope you have not attempted that. You must discern and that is the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Bear with me, this may be a simple answer, but you "just know" if its God or not. I cannot say how you may "know", any more than I can say how another (seemingly)normal person may know. Let me try to explain my thoughts a little more.

The reason I say it so simply is because God is the Creator of all. As in, everything we "sense" is everything He created. It did not exist before He created it. If He wants you to know/feel/understand something........your going to know/feel/understand. God is either God or He is not. If you believe He is, then it makes sense that He knows about schizophrenia. And, it makes sense that He would know the person He is speaking with has it.

This may be a really simple answer, but if there is any doubt of God's communication with you, then I would simply write it off as being apart of the schizophrenic mind. If God can make things exist that never have existed, then I am 100% positive He can communicate with you in a way you will have zero doubt. I would highly suspect that some may wonder, what if He really was communicating with me and I blew it off as apart of my schizophrenia. To that I would revert back to my original statement that God is God. He would understand a person may take this approach.

Put another way, it may not be commonly accepted, but I would stay away from trying to compare things you "sense" against what others have experienced in anyway, shape, or form. God deals with us all in different ways. There are times when He communicates in a "blanket form"(for lack of a better word), but on a personal level - which seems to be what your asking about - He deals with us individually.

God searches the heart and examines the mind.

Jeremiah 17:10 "I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."

You cannot deceive God if your heart is evil and he knows if your mind is not right (mental illness)

Matthew 15:18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man unclean. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

You cannot create false readings if you do not have a mental problem, that would be a spiritual problem if you make it okay to lie to yourself.
