One of the most difficult things to do in the Christian life is to pinpoint exactly how every believer is to live. It is difficult because it is not God's intention that every believer live the same or be the same in manifestation of the Christ in him.
Actually, the very heart of the message of the Christian life is that Christ will flow out of each human being differently, and because there is only one Son, God has elected that all who are created in His likeness and image should be different so that one Son might be manifested unto Him in many various ways.
This means that typical religion and doctrine, derived to make all believers look and act alike, are not only error but a tremendous effrontery to the Christ who has been birthed in the believer.
It is God's grace that has allowed Christ to come into the believer, regardless of the believers condition of sin and the kind of person he is.
It is God's intention that Christ overwhelm all that the believer previously was. By no means, however, is the distinctiveness of that believer taken away because Christ flows out of him. As we so often say it is Christ in us, as us.
The salvation that comes by Christ, which God accomplishes for those who believe, includes, among other things, the placing of the saved one in three distinctive positions.
1) the believer is placed in the position of a son of God, 1st John 3:2.

2)the believer is placed in the position of a citizen of heaven.

3)we are placed as members of the family of God. Paul is very confident in this matter that believers are distinctive part of the house of God, John 14:2.

I think we struggle with this because we want to identify with each other based on the outward appearance. "birds of a feather stick together"

Its also ingrained in us to be one in Christ. So the pull to unite is strong. Except we unite over the outward things instead of the inward ones.

We fit doctrine to our outward 'style', instead of understanding it based on who God is. Its very interesting to say the least.

I think what you say is so true in that its not God's intention that every believer live the same or look the same - outwardly. Rather, they should all be able to come together and be of the same mind and heart toward God.

I was contemplating this very thing this morning. 1 John is very much along this line of thought.

Yes true, the problem we run into as the born again is "there is no fellowship" outside of Christ.
Believers for whatever reason, mainly religion-my opinion, who do not understand the message of who we are, it's no different than the world, no fellowship.
Example; we are all born again in this forum, and there is very little agreement, outside the of death, burial and resurrection. Why is this happening, answer; lack of knowledge, no teaching, no sound instruction on reading your bible. Not blaming anyone so to speak just stating a fact. So someone say as myself comes along preaching Christ as life, basically that's what I am saying when I write, and I'm labeled a heritic.
Just for speaking the truth in love, that's one of the reasons I did the thread on Martin Luther.
Religion is in full bloom in this world and the Christian has to dig himself/herself if they are going to know anything. Really it's not rocket science as they say, but there are things written that absolutely have to be revealed. As I have said before religion will reject anything it can not control, revelation is not a controllable component therefore rejected, with out thought or a mind given to it.
