Do you feel incompetent at times to take control of your life when it seems like nothing is going the way you want it to go? Do you feel powerless like you can not accomplish those things in your life you want to do because you feel so inadequate or out of your league? As a Christian there are times many of us feel this way when we know nothing of the authority and the power that we have through Gods grace. Grace means unmerited favor, Gods willingness to give us his power and authority even though we do not deserve it.

Power and authority is given to us for Gods purpose and his timing in our lives as we serve him daily within his ministry. I’m not just talking about a pulpit ministry, but each individual ministry within us all as we reach out to others with the gospel through the works we are to continue in for the Lord to bring glory and honor to his name. The works are simply to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and visit those who are in their own prisons as when we do this we are doing it unto the Lord.

Gods power and authority is what helps us to stand against the principalities of darkness of this world so we can continue in the ministry of Jesus as when we first asked him into our hearts this created a new inner man or Spiritual man whom is no longer part of this world, nor should he or she conform themselves to this world. We may have to live in this world and as a servant of God Satan will try anything he can to silence Gods word in us, but we need not fear what Satan or this world can do to us as we have Gods Spirit dwelling in us and guiding us and God will see us through all the trials and tribulations that can come against us to bring us out victorious in his name.

Never feel inadequate or incompetent as this is only unbelief that Satan is trying to put in your mind so he can quench the word of God that is already in you. Gods’ power and authority in your life will bring you to places you only dreamed of and were afraid to go to. It’s Gods strength within us through the Holy Spirit that gives us the freedom and privilege to take his gospel where it needs to go in the timing and purpose of Gods ministry in another’s life that needs to hear the good news of Gods salvation.

So does God give us His power to accomplish our will even if our will does not line up with His will for us?
What happens when God knows that what we want to do will be a disaster for our faith?
Do we still get to use His "authority and the power we have through Gods grace" to accomplish a goal that will be detrimental to us?

Was Jesus full of unmerited favor?
Jhn 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

I'm just wanting to clarify.

Yes indeed!

We can't just take God's power and authority for it is not for us to willy nilly use it, but is given to us by God for His timing and purpose of His ministry through us. All things must remain in Gods will that brings glory and honor to His name.

he gave us power to live the Christian life
2 Peter 1:3 New King James Version (NKJV)
3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,

sometimes i think we get things backwards he wants to bless us spiritually but man wants materialistic things..dont get me wrong God will bless us with nice things . but many times he makes a way for us to have it through our job... but yes we are inaugurate of our self..

If we are in Gods will our lives will be abundantly rich. Maybe not in the material things of want, but that of self satisfaction of knowing who we are as a child of God that we no longer live by the ways of this world, but by the plan God has for us.

There are fourteen definitions of authority found in the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance Greek definition: (exousia, ex-oo-see'-ah) freedom, influence, delegate, jurisdiction, ability, control, force, privilege, strength, liberty, mastery, competency, power and right

I will start with freedom:

FREEDOM is God giving us liberty through his power that gives us the authority to speak his word to those who need to hear no matter the location or the environmental situation that would otherwise prohibit freedom of another religion or speech. Although we are given this freedom we have to exercise restraint from forcing our beliefs onto others. As we came to God through our own freewill so will others that hear his call to salvation. If we use force then we are outside of Gods will of love and compassion and become no effect in another’s life and only become as sounding cymbals like the Pharisees who loved to be seen of others.

Galatians 5:13 for, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Matthew 23:1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
Matthew 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
Matthew 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
Matthew 23:4 for they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
Matthew 23:5 but all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
Matthew 23:6 and love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
Matthew 23:7 and greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
Matthew 23:8 but be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
