From the video, I believe he is speaking of those who are arguing to the Paleo-Hebrew to make the Hebrew OT say things it does not. It isn't all that different from all the supposed hidden messages in the OT using numbers, from several years back (The Bible Code). Or perhaps it's more similar to the arguments many Christians make regarding the meaning of a Greek or Hebrew word by arguing to the meaning of the root word, or by taking a compound word and arguing to its meaning from the meanings of its constituent words. Both situations are exegetical fallacies, according to D. A. Carson, and he is quite correct, of course.

I am familiar with the Bible codes thing and always thought it was silly. This topic is a bit over my head. I tried to research it a bit and found some things interesting, but not enough to really follow the lines of argument in the video. I just read my OT (NASB) and that's enough for me. Languages make my brain hurt.

Hebrew is a very nuanced language, and can be dangerous in the wrong hands. Heaven knows what we've seen people do this Strings for mercies sake.

There are some very good Jewish Rabbis that I've read and listen to, that gives me pause, and reminds me of how very little I really know on the matter.

And yes, I've heard some pretty amazing gemetria that actually makes herminutical since.

Te major issue with this thread from beginning is clearly spelled out by Papas Zoom and if one does not know what the speak of they should be quiet until they can inquire, in this case of Chopper or myself. The Hallelujah Scriptures are recommended by Dr. Alan Horvath, a Messianic Jewish teacher found on His website and more easily on You Tube, teaching the scriptures from a Converted Jew's perspective.

Please listen to me please! I have and I do always teach against what has happened here. This began, in this string, as an uniformed commentary about Paleo Hebrew letters but the only Paleo Hebrew Letters in this fine translation of the scriptures are the ones translated YHWH in our language and these are the only four letters that are read from right to lleft. Satan iis certainly jerking knots in a lot of tails here! Some of you can ignore this comment but I will not list who can and who cannot. Some of you act like uneducated heathens and these knee-jerk reactions do not serve you well. And please, what does the Paseo Hebrew Alphabet have to do with an English and many other languages translation of the scriptures that is freely distributed to lost people that cannot buy a slice of bread, let alone a copy O YHWH's Word?

Please try to act like the person you claim to represent and stop assuming what you cannot know bbebcause you chose Intentional Ignorance instead of investigation, that habit killed a lot of good men on the battle fields of this nation's history

Who is Dr. Alan Horvath? Any links would be helpful.

Not sure what you mean by most of this.

Are you saying that the English translation of the OT has nothing to do with Paleo-Hebrew?

If I get booted for reacting to a mod's absurdity, the rest of you, please find out what happened before jumping in with dumb and irrelevant opinions.
What in the world are you going on about?

I did say to look him up on You Tube but for those that cannot research or will not I'll include these: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Alan+horvat and http://www.alanhorvath.com/WatchAlan/ A google search reveals much more than, even n conceiting i am willing to do.
Are you saying that the English translation of the OT has nothing to do with Paleo-Hebrew?

This is a prime example of why I try hard to avoid you. You are forever putting words in my mouth that were neither spoken nor were they intended to be worked in there, that is a very objectionable habit. I am a Simple Man and that has lead me to always write these messages at a Fifth Grade Reader's Level. Imagine, that is the same level NewsPapers are written at.

You say you cannot relate to much of the post, I'm sorry but it just says what it says and I researched what I said and know of nothing else to do.

I am sorry but I'm going to assume you meant to ask me if I was saying the Paleo Hebrew has nothhing to do with the English because I can make no other sense of the structure of your question. And the answer to that question is no, I said nothing of the sort.

I found all of that, I'm just not going to go through all of his videos. You said "Dr. Alan Horvath," but I could only find Alan Horvath. Is there a reason you added "Dr."? I can't find anything to justify the use that term.

The issue is that you get too emotional and fly off the handle, significantly impairing your ability to understand. And, yes, this really is a prime example.

I asked: "Are you saying that the English translation of the OT has nothing to do with Paleo-Hebrew?" That is a question. It means I am looking for clarification. In no way whatsoever is it putting words in your mouth. Not even close. Your emotions got the best of you yet again.

You say you cannot relate to much of the post, I'm sorry but it just says what it says and I researched what I said and know of nothing else to do.
You say you researched. Did you watch the video in the OP? That should be included among your research.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the structure of the question. Okay, so you are saying that Paleo-Hebrew has something to do with the English translations of the OT. In what way?

Something running around in my head is about the beauty and complexity of the scriptures.
We can see the subtlety in the nuances of the way things were said that left no doubt as to the intention. On top of this there are the double and triple entendre of the specific words chosen to create beautiful and powerful poetry.

Not to give full credence to gematria, but the equal distance consonant spacing which forms words is also incredible.

1&2 Samuel is a non-stop interlaced synechiae. (Type of poetry that makes it a Limerick...kinda coarse in places too)

There is only one form of poetry that we can't see that likely was in the originals...and that is word art...where the writing on the page actually forms a picture when seen from afar...or possibly acrosstics.

The masoretes did preserve what was written...but corrected deliberately and accidentally misspelled words.
So we don't know what was on the originals.

I would hesitate to speculate as to exactly what was shown but at a guess it wouldn't be anything shocking. (Except for a few with outrageous theological positions)

And one other thing...
The Hebrew alphabet is all consonants...the Aleph is not an "a"... which is a vowel.

And very few words ever have the accent on the first syllable...most are on the second.

I'm not following you..
The way I've been taught to understand it is like this.
The aleph decribes not the ox, but it's attributes. The ancients did not think in nouns. It was described to me this way.
We see a door, and put an emphasis on the object. An attribute of a door is that it swings. Thus, a door would represent it's ability to swing open and shut.
In short, the ancients thought more in terms of verbs than nouns.
In the video, the man described how written language went from pictograms, which represented things, to alphabets, which represented sounds. ("A" = "aah" type of thing.)

The result was that written language went from having 10s of thousands of pictograms to having about 30 letters.

He made the point that the attributes of the objects in the pictograms have absolutely bno beaaring on the meaning of words spelled with the letters even though the letters may be derived from the pictograms.

I think that is what you just said too.

Ok well that simplifies it. I think that's what Free is saying too. I'll let him speak for himself (which is why I tagged him) ;)

Yes, that’s what I’m saying. I think some who have commented may not have watched the video.

Well, those are nearly 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

At this point reading all these pages and I'm sure the arguments will proceed and create many more, I don't think the OP watched the entire video. And I don't think those defending the OP's remarks that seem to mimick the video Dr's crass remarks have either.

When he made the crack about Elvis I was almost outta here but I percerviered to the end to see if he matured and actually acted like someone with the acumen he boasted of in the beginning of it. Nah.

Before anyone keeps going with this back and forth I suggest you buck up and make yourself watch the guy's whole presentation before defending what you think he's about having stopped the video a few minutes in.

I most certainly did watch the entire video. Thanks for that pointless post.

It seems that some people do not think critically and get confused about whati said. He'll be alright.

I read the premise you presented in the title and i watched over three quarters of the perfectly void of relevance to te Hebrew Scriptures and I took note of the sentence Construction of the original statement and i made note that you can not spell jiig. And not being willing to belittle you as you have tried to with me, more than once, by intentionally misrepresentation of what i have said, in text written at the same fifth grade level the news agencies use. so as to make it sim0le to comprehend and still, each time, quite a few, you ask questions that impart a completely foolish meaning and demand that I take you seriously. so answer me, are you serios and for real this post or is this the same ring around the rosey? You did not watch deeply enough into your Proof Video and you did not think when you accused me of using Paleo-Hebrew, and yes I knew you were on my back again as soon as I read the title. But friend, i do not have nor do i believe there is a Paleo Hebrew Text for my Computer that will type from right to left, if there were I cqannot read it annd it is unlikely chopper can either. I know for a fact thuhat I did not learn Paleo in Elementary nor in Middle School. that must have been left for you boys that weren't as hungry as i was when i en;isted and went to Vietnam to protect the tender lads that were learning how to smoke dope and to blow their minds out on acid.

I hate to say your wrong Papa but he designed that title to attract me when i would read it in the New Posts and his posted script was pointed straight at Chopper and/or myself because I asked JasonC a question about a word in Paleo and I mentioned something in a post about our new versions having the Paleo Hebrew names left n the translation and as I said, he must not have gone beyond the title because it has so little to do at all with translating the Bible, name or no names.
