Welcome to the Current Events & Politics forum. We are glad you are here. It doesn’t matter your affiliation or belief, we are a community here at christianforums.net, and as a community we have to find ways to get along.

ToS rule 1.4: Christianforums.net reserves the right to remove any content which is considered to be disruptive to the Community, at the sole discretion of christianforums.net Leadership.
ToS rule 2.4: No Trolling. Do not make an inflammatory remark just to get a response. Address issues not personalities.

Do not leave a parting shot or snotty snark at the end of any post; it will be edited out in red, or the post deleted. Threads that become nasty may be closed for cleanup, used as a temporary cool down period, or permanently closed.

Please read, learn, and follow our TERMS OF SERVICE: http://christianforums.net/Fellowship/index.php?pages/terms-of-service/

The longer version of the above appears below (for those of you who like more details)

-the Moderators of Current Events & Politiics

Since I’ve been made a moderator on these board (Current Events and Politics) I thought it helpful if I informed people of my moderating philosophy. I’ll try to be pithy. But do read this information as you’ll be accountable for knowing how I will approach moderating so you won't be caught off-guard. There is a shorter version we will post as a “sticky.” All moderators are in agreement with the following:

We are a community here at christianforums.com. It doesn’t matter your affiliation or belief, we are a community, and as a community we have to find ways to get along. Easier said than done which is why we have moderators on the boards.

For the Christians: We have a responsibility to offer reasoned and seasoned (as in with salt) responses in our conversations with others. Words like grace, humility, charity come to mind. Offering gracious replies is a learned behavior. It’s also commanded by Scripture which means it’s from the mouth of God.

Colossians 4:5 Act wisely toward outsiders, redeeming the time. 6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

For non believers know this: the same expectations apply to you because after all, this is a Christian site and you have chosen to join in the community of CF.com.

These discussions boards are both busy and bothersome (from a moderator’s perspective) when things go south. Moderators are always making decisions: How far do we let something go before we step in? If we wait, we could have a huge cleanup. If we intervene, we may disrupt the flow of conversations. We are, after all, here to have fun and exchange ideas and maybe, if we’re lucky, meet some new friends.

With those things in mind, here is my the approach to moderating the boards. These points are consistent with the TOS.

*First, read and learn (and follow) the TOS. They can be found here: http://christianforums.net/Fellowship/index.php?pages/terms-of-service/
*When I post on the boards, the bar is higher for me. I must engage in conversations with others in the way I expect them to engage. (ToS 2.4)
*I will aggressively moderate any and all posts that address the person instead of the argument (this is a huge problem) Address the issue, not the person. (ToS 2.4)
*If a new thread seems solely for the purpose of trolling, I'd delete the thread (ToS 1.4)
*Any and all threads that get the least bit nasty I'll put in time out or simply close. Time out is just a temporary cool down period (could be hours or days) while a closure could be permanent. (ToS 1.4)
*Every parting shot and snotty snark at the end of any post would be edited out in red - eventually I'll just delete the offensive material with no editing.(ToS 2.4)
*I read the TOS over and over to be sure I'm acting in concert with site rules. So obviously I'll take other actions that aren't listed here.

You are responsible to read the stickys before posting. They are in red at the top of every forum. The same is true of the TOS - it's your responsibility to be familiar with the rules. When you post on this forum, you are agreeing to abide by the terms set down by the owner and the staff of Christianforums.com
