Skillet's going to be at Wild Adventures in August. That's around my brother's birthday, and I told him about it. He may or may not ask to go there for his birthday.

Skillet, then! your favorite. Maybe you'll want to be there yourself, whether or not your younger or older brother goes, too.

Did you ever hear Skillet at such close quarters before?

Blessings.

Yeah. If we go, then I'm definitely going. xD But my brother also wanted to go to the zoo, so he doesn't know. It's his birthday, so he gets to choose.

No. Not even at Winter Jam 2012. It was indoors, though, so it was LOUD. Sound quality for indoor concerts isn't too good. At least, not in that building.
Skillet likes to have these fire things at their concerts. Even at Winter Jam, you could feel the heat from where I was sitting/standing.

You like to be close to the 'action', then, I guess.

Sounds like it was your younger, not older, brother, then. Skillet in someways is quite a thoughtful adult band, so maybe your younger brother would still be a bit young to appreciate their range of sounds and thought, that you now have really gotten into.

Blessings.

He likes Skillet, but I tend to be more into music than he is. Also, he seems to like Crush 40 a bit more.

@questdriven :

So would you classify Crush 40 as well as hard rock?

Blessings.
Yeah. Maybe even a form of metal. Not sure.

Hm...*searches*
Wikipedia classifies them as hard rock, alternative metal (which I tend to go for a bit more than the super hard, super strong bass metal, I think), and alternative rock.

Interesting; thank-you. :)

Seems still that you as a Christian woman have basically become an adult that is into Christian hard rock, whatever its underlying variations are. Is Crush 40 maybe a bit loud for you, though?

Blessings.

No, I love them. And their vocals. Almost as much as, if not as much as, Skillet.

Here's one of their songs:

Please note, however, that Crush 40 is not a Christian band. They are a pretty clean secular band, though.

Ty.

Fast and loud. It's how you love it, then.

Seems like you don't mind it loud at all. Loud is I guess all part of the hard rock authenticity.

And I guess that a Christian band with good Christian lyrics makes a powerful statement.

Blessings.

So is your other brother into Christian hard rock as well, maybe?

Do he have preferred bands?

Blessings.

Some Christian hard rock vocalists (Skillet, Disciple, Red) sing with a throaty roar. A kind of a carefully projected shout from the throat sometimes; do you think this can make it special, as part of the hard rock authenticity? (combined with strong base guitar and beat).

Blessings.

There are times that it just fits, I do like it when it's done well.

@questdriven :

Yes, well, musical appreciation matures, and if you do I guess it kind of confirms that Christian hard rock is what defines many now grown up Christian young adults.

I think that the throaty roar that you like does need to be controlled and projected at appropriate times, and its purpose should be to reinforce hard hitting Christian lyrics, rather than obscure them. (I think you said that as you became familiar with Christian rock you didn't have a real problem following the lyrics.) Some of Red's track are a bit loud (which is okay) but following some of Red's lyrics can for me at least be a bit hard.

Blessings.
