If I could ask questdriven, do you think that the fact that many Christian rock and metal musicians are tattooed is coincidental?

Or do you think it's kind of part of what they are, as professional/specialist rock and metal people?

Blessings.

that doesn't justify your position. I could as much as really don't like futurism put 666 on my back and start up a convo on that. on that note. I read a water meters who numbers were 666.lol. the water must have been from satan.lol

There is plenty that could be said from various angles and various believers might put more stress on one angle as opposed to another. But you're right in saying that some rather illogical things are sometimes said. Not a few Christians will be simply matter of fact about getting some ink, especially if it's faith based.

Blessings.

yes but I do think that its wrong. im not going to debate this all over again.

Well, no; no need. In terms of the arguments one way or another that are sometimes used, anyway, there is a lot of illogical stuff said and a lot of bold claims made, in order to try to justify entrenched positions, in any case.

Blessings.

.. As for the fish sign, I respect the intention, but I do not think that other people will care enough to approach you and ask about your faith.

Okay, but actually many Christian have found the opposite to be the case from a practical point of view, whatever the theory; they are proven to be great conversation-starters.

Blessings.

Respectfully, what I read into this statement is that we must essentially box ourselves in because of what western society thinks.

We are told that we should not conform to the world (Romans 12:2). And so how is it biblical (or even correct, for that matter) to allow society's view of a thing to define the thing itself?

Society also tells us that marriage is a joke - it is a tax bracket, a gateway for insurance and benefits, a contract of convenience, and even for some just a guarantee for sex (which is like buying a 747 to get peanuts, but I'll digress).

So considering society's view on marriage, does that mean Christians shouldn't marry, as well?

Unless, of course, I completely misread your statement. In that case, please accept my apologies and ignore this little rant of mine. :dunce

God bless.

Hi Matthew! I guess what you (and Kay) mean instead is, to turn the tattoo into a bold Christian statement, right? or something like this?

Blessings.

Do you believe this is an entrenched position..

Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

...and what about the no trimming of beards in the next verse?

Stated differently, Do you come down hard on Christian men who trim their beards?

If not, maybe there is the need to look at how one is interpreting such passages, particularly in the light of the New Testament.

Blessings.

But has anyone ever led someone to Christ using the tattoo?
Is this also an argument against Gospel tract distribution, on the supposed grounds that only a very small proportion of them might ever bear fruit? We are called upon to sow the seed, however. Blessings.

...I worked in a youth outreach center for troubled kids. A lot of them wouldn't talk openly and honestly to staff members. Because of my tattoo I was able to open up a conversation with these kids. They saw that I wasn't like your typical churchy Christian. You make think it's silly, but it does help in witnessing. I've gotten lots of respect from those kids for having a tattoo that was faith based.

I guess one truth has a point.

Blessings.

Yes, I've seen it. I respect that, even though I can't really comprehend the whole thing. God bless.

What I would also say is that I would not expect to convince you; and certainly would not advise you actually to do it.

Probably you would not feel led of the Lord ever to do something like this yourself, anyway.

Blessings.
