Well, Deb is doing ok. Not great, but OK. And I am in northern Alabama on my first trip for the company - to a HUGE (and I DO mean HUGE) steel plant in Decatur, AL. I have been here since monday, but head home by noon today.

This was a fun trip - the mill is a NUCOR mill, I cannot tell you how big it is - it goes beyond words. They take up about 3,000 acres and have their own 500,000 volt powerline direct from the Nuclear Plant about 3 miles away! Peak consumption is 300 megawatts - enough to run a city, all used up in two buildings. This place is interesting, noisy and dangerous. They melt steel with electricity - a lot of steel and a LOT of current. One wrong step around here and several hazards can kill instantly.

The road is fun - every dime I spent since Monday goes on the corporate card - I have not spent a DIME of my own money since breakfast on Monday.

I am seeing the technology we manufacture and sell being used by actual customers - the guy I work with makes the case that this plant (with almost 1,000 radios) is the busiest NEXEDGE network in the USA. I believe it, too.

So, at this point, this is a praise thread! And it all started with a 5 day hospital stay.

I hate to tell you all about this, but my sister needs prayer. She called today, the whole state thing is messed up . What it all means is, if the home she is in is not approved by December 8, she has to move BY DECEMBER 8 to another home - or loose her place in line AND in another 30 days, she loses her medicaid.

The whole thing stinks - she is almost paralyzed by M.S., yet "does not qualify" for much of anything.

This is such baloney - I'll tell you, if you THINK that the money deducted from your paycheck insures you of "disability" someday - think again. THose of us who WORK, or USED TO WORK, do not qualify for help from the gov't.

Help from the gov't is for those who simply don't work, never have, never will.

It is so disgusting.

Will be praying for Deb...hopefully this is just one of the many "snafu's" that always seem to be a part of any kind of government activity and things will quickly be sorted out.

yes i know of that system. but the GOD we serve is big enough to provide.

LORD, WE SEE THE CRY OF THIS MAN and ask that you deliver him and his sister and work this out and also give them strength and the finances needed. in your name Jesus amen.

:pray May God show His mercy and blessings right now! :pray

I have an IME on Monday...and found out that most people have to pay for it themselves nowdays. Whew.

THere is some hope, turns out there is no agreement written between her and the place she is staying - this makes it a "roommate" situation in the eyes of the state - so there may not be a big problem - except that she DOES need to get into a contract and get the state paying the bill - so the home DOES have to get approved so the lady can actually get paid like she should get paid.

I am considering paying the $400 difference for Deb for a few months until this gets fixed.

As for work, well, I was in Alabama last week on a fun job and in the office this week. Next week, I spend a week at a nuke plant in PA. I'm busy, stressed at times, still learning, etc.

I should be around here this weekend some... but wow - I am tired. Off to bed with ME!
THanks for the prayers.

I posted the following on my facebook page:
My sister's situation is worse than ever. She may loose her Medicaid, the home she's in is not as good as we hoped, the state is taking away some of what little benefits she gets... her M.S. is, of course, getting worse. Words can no have

    • Mark Christopher Stupid keyboard... words cannot express the stress on her, or on me now. Her story continues to get worse and worse, there is no hope - and she has finally said it: "Mark, my life is hell." I know not what to do.about an hour ago · Like
    • Mark Christopher Please don't offer to pray for her... prayer does not work for Debi. It has worked for me, but it does not work for her.

  • f I was in her situation, I'd have shot myself several years ago. Her will to live is amazing.52 minutes ago · Like

  • Mark Christopher Thanks you two.52 minutes ago · Like

  • Mark Christopher I just cannot believe how awful this is getting... how I can care for an invalid when I am home is one thing, how to do it when I am gone a week at a time is another...

Words cannot describe how bad things are for her. And I don't know what to do. I have signed a lease here, and the agreement is that no one else can live here without the landlady's permission... and this condo association is not going to put up with a lot of traffic - Deb is visited by a nurse twice a day and often is carried to the doctor's in a special van that comes to get her.

If I break the lease and move, I must pay $2500 to the landlady .... in addition to moving expenses.

And where do I move? It was hard just to find this place.

And what happens when Deb gets even sicker? Her prognosis is for things go to downhill even more over time. Someday, she may live to a point that she is consci9ous, but unable to even lift her head from the pillow, unable to speak, etc. What a living hell her life is now, and it could get even worse if she does not die within the next few years.

This is unspeakably horrible. I know not what to do - but I DO know that prayer works for me, but does not work for Debi.

GOt to get to bed, gonna call a lawyer or two tomorrow...

You're at your whits end. I'm sorry, Mark. :sad I know your job isn't the most important thing right now, but you are still relatively new, and that can't be making it any easier to find the time to take care of her. I hope somehow we get a happier update from you soon.

I sure hope so, but I have realized that there is no solution. Perhaps I see why Frank divorced her, and I SURE see why he wants no part of the Gospel.

My faith is taking a terrible hit here, how could I/we expect him to accept God who is God over THIS nightmare? I could understand if Deb had done something so that M.S. was a consequence of sin. But nothing any doctor has said would lead me to that conclusion.

Could it be that M.S. is a punishment she endures here so she bypasses punishment in the afterlife? I've never heard such a theology expressed by anyone... so I am left without an answer.

We are all without answers. My last idea is to try to find a lawyer who can help - the problem of paying said lawyer is a big one, but I CAN do it, one way or another.
