present giving at Christmas

Do you agree with giving/receiving presents between families at Christmas?

  • I think its good, just TOO MUCH, a present or two would be best

Of course giving eachother presents is a good idea.
It's a time honored tradition given to us by our european pagan forefathers, where do you think Christmas comes from?

I don't care where it came from. Now, we make it what we want it to be.

I'm somewhat still thinking whether I like the presents thing or not.

I like getting and giving them, but on the other hand it seems so like nothinness.

:-? :robot: :crying: :x :sad

That lateshift is going to your mind and turning you into a philosopher. If you're worried that giftgiving has become to commerciallised, you're right, it has. But that doesn't mean it ought to end. The act of giving loved ones gifts is still very important. It's part of what makes the holiday special, its a break from winter work to look forward to the year ahead and celebrate family and friendship.

It should probably just be cut down a considerable amount.

All this greed ruins the real Christmas, along with other things. :sad

I believe the kids today get way to many presents.

I do like the idea of gift giving with family and friends but keeping it to a present or two per person.

As long as we remember the true meaning of Christmas, there is nothing wrong with exchanging presents.

I also think that kids should give some of their old toys to the Salvation Army before they get their presents.

what about "love not the world nor the things of the world"
and "whoever loves the world or the things of the world cannot be a friend of God"
and "do not study nor take part in the ways of pagans"
and "do not seek nor do as the other nations do"
(paraphrased somewhat, but that's the gist of a little i remember) ..... .... I have to go now, but will try to look up Scripture if someone wants it specifically (I think it's pretty commonly known amongst Bible types, but don't know for sure.... )
