Nope! Not on my calendar. :sohappy
How about 70AD when the Roman general Titus entered the Most Holy Place and had a statue of himself erected in the temple before having the temple torn down?

That would fulfill Jesus statement as well as being a type of things to come. (So I can have it both ways! :) )

And you don't have to count! :lol

http://biblehub.com/daniel/12-11.htm

There's an exact amout of days from one event to another. So your saying someone can't count the days from one date to another.
There are some people who can count. And there are some people who pay enough attention to God to know when certain things happen. Not everyone pays attention to God.But those who do will uderstand alot more than those who dont.
So years before the abomination of desolation is set up,many people will know the exact date. Not everyone. But those who have been watchful will.

Shiloh,

Matt 24:36 (NET): 'But as for that day and hour no one knows it—not even the angels in heaven—except the Father alone'.

Mark 13:32 (NET): 'But as for that day or hour no one knows it—neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son—except the Father'.

I'm sticking with Scripture's direct statement and not some speculation.

Jim,

That's one theory but I can't get it to fit in Matt 24.

Jim,
That's one theory but I can't get it to fit in Matt 24.

It's Jesus' response to the disciples request: "Tell us, when will these things be?" (mat 24:3) which the disciples asked because He said of the temple; "Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

That is exactly what Titus did.
So it fits that portion of Jesus' teaching.
It does not address His coming or the end of the age which were the other two questions the disciples asked.

Mat 24:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying,
Tell us, when will these things be? (question number one)
And what will be the sign of Your coming, (question number two)
and of the end of the age?” (question number three)

In any attempt to understand Jesus response, it is necessary to recognize that He is addressing three separate topics: (1) the destruction of the temple, (2) His second coming, and (3) the end of the age.

Conflating these three topics will lead to some false conclusions.

Also, Jesus' answer is not that easy to unravel. It is to some extent difficult to tell what part of His answer to apply to which question.

It's also fertile ground for all kinds of speculation and esoteric deep meanings, if one is so inclined. (If you're preaching on this passage, be sure to bring you power-point charts and illustrations. :wink)

Well stated, Jim.

Seeing we are already in end times,i thought j would make a few predictions based on my undetstanding of biblical prophecy .

1-Trump will greatly increase military spending.
2-Trumpshall give money to wounded soldiers ad the families of fallen soldiers.
3-About midway through Trumps reign,a millitary comprised of gentiles shall occupy Jerusaelm.
4-The israeli conscription shall end.
5-Israelis shall all be given microchip implants to be used for buying and selling.
6-A drought lasting 42 months shall plague the middle east.
7-Trump will move the US embassy to Jerusalem.
8-Three and a half years after the conscription ends, ten musimscoutries attack and capture Jerusalem.2 million strong will sweep through Israel.
9-Trump responds with nukes destroying most of the middle esst and north africa.
10-The saints in israel, who died for thier testiony, will be resurrected and shall reign with Christ over the nations.

This is my understanding.
How about yours?
i will pass on predictions but will I will be willing to bet that this raw egg will explode in your hand a get egg all over your fac3 for all to see. How do I know that? By Baby Christian Experience and I can assure you, it will humble you.

You do not consider the premier religion of the world (the one God, Himself, ordained) being all but totally destroyed, to be the biggest thing to ever happen?
Sorry I may be a bit confused. Didn't God end that with the whole death/resurrection thing?

And the sun and moon and stars all failing in their political dominance certainly happened. (Look up Joseph's dream to understand the symbolism)
Well yeah I do understand symbolism but how does it apply? Who fell from political dominance?

How about 70AD when the Roman general Titus entered the Most Holy Place and had a statue of himself erected in the temple before having the temple torn down?
I think you got your guys and times mixed up. Swap Titus and Caligula. Rewind 30 years. Titus wouldn't even accept a victory wreath for what happened in Judea, but they went ahead and built a monument to him in Rome anyway. Caligula on the other hand sent an army to ensure his statue would get built in Jerusalem, but then he went and got himself murdered and the whole matter was dropped.

Sorry I may be a bit confused. Didn't God end that with the whole death/resurrection thing? ???????????

The entire political structure of the Sanhedrin (who were all killed) vanished with their last breath and the flames that destroyed the Temple.

In Matthew 24:4-14 Jesus gives answer to the three questions the disciples ask of him and the final question is found in vs14. Vs 15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:). The holy place is a place of a stronger faith in Christ that we fear not what has to come before the return of Christ, Matthew 10:28.

Compare Matthew 24:15, 16 with Daniel Chapter 7 and you will see that of what the abomination is in the end of days that started with the destruction of the Temple in 70AD. that Jesus told the disciples would happen. We as the body of Christ through the Spiritual rebirth are His Temple not made by hands as there never will be a third Temple built. As the literal Temple was destroyed in 70AD and the Temple mount taken over in 691AD the abomination that we are to flee from as the Jews were instructed to flee from is found

In Rev 13 the beast (revived Babylonian Empire) rises up out of the sea as the sea here is symbolic of people and nations as in a sea of humanity, Daniel Chapter 7:1-8; Revelation 17:15. This beast out of the sea gives power to the beast out of the earth who is the son of perdition/false prophet, 2Thessalonians 2:3-12 who will declare a peace treaty, 1Thessalonians 5:1-5, with the Arab nations and will be given the refurbished (being refurbished now) Dome of the Rock (Temple Mount) where he will sit on his throne to rule over the nations causing all to take his mark or be killed or taken captive. This is the abomination that causes desolation that Daniel spoke of in Daniel Chapter 7 and that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24:15,16.

The entire political structure of the Sanhedrin (who were all killed) vanished with their last breath and the flames that destroyed the Temple.
So the Sanhedrin were the sun, stars and moon?

I noticed all the question marks....I just meant that God Himself ended official Judaism with Christ. The sacrifices, the priesthood, the new command, the old way was over. The temple served no purpose after Jesus died and was resurrected. Not telling, just trying to convey my understanding on this.
