Some verses I was reading today that I thought I'd share. Pride is such an easy trap to fall into.

Job 41:33-34
33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.

1 Timothy 3:6
Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

1 Peter 5:5-8
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

I like that wording "clothed with humility". Wear your humility like you wear your clothes.

Here's another to add to your list

Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Yes, thank the Lord our sins are covered!

Colossians 2:13-14
13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

14Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

I stuck around St Petersburg
when I saw it was time for a change

Isaiah 14:16 "They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble"

The inflection here is key. He will be despised. When it refers to gnashing of teeth, I think they'll be gnashing their teeth on this character here, lol.

When "every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess," referring to this guy being made to do so, my first Pastor preached he'd be there saying "make him do it again, Lord!"

Talking about David today...
He was anointed by God.
"A man after God's own heart."
But his deal with Saul and Mical. He paid Saul double his asking price for the daughter.
When David became King he went back for her. Nobody was really happy with that choice. She bore him no children. Her "temp husband" was especially upset. Even throwing mud at David when he was running from his son.
IF David had simply asked her "temp husband" for some kind of reimbursement and loyalty for keeping the woman he would have done wayyyy better.

But David as "God's anointed" believed he could do no wrong...and was grabbing more wives when going back for Saul's daughter too. That belief that because God is blessing us we are doing everything right and won't do anything wrong while being blessed just doesn't compute.

We all feel like we are special to God. And to some extent that is true. We all are called. But very very few are chosen to lead. And the extent of those few chosen can be very limited.

David understood that at the very end. The beauty contest winner lost so much. She didn't get to marry David or his son. Solomon's brother lost his life asking his mother to ask for her... Bathsheba almost lost her life for asking.
You would think that we as forgiven people would Excell at understanding that we are usually wrong...but we just don't.
