And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his Commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the Earth (Deuteronomy 28:1)

In this tremendous Chapter, we have a promise of Blessings which are absolutely unparalleled. Some may argue that the Lord did these things for Israel under the Old Covenant, but will not do them for modern Christians under the New Covenant. There is nothing in the Word of God that even remotely lends credence to such an idea. We presently have, in fact, a much better Covenant, based on better Promises than anything in the Old Covenant (Hebrews 8:6).

In this panoply of Promises, five great things are said.
They are:
1. "And all these blessings shall come on you, and overtake you": This literally means that the blessings of the Lord will literally chase down the individual. What a promise! (Deuteronomy 28:2).

2. "The LORD shall command the Blessing upon you": At this moment, if we will only believe it, the Lord is commanding blessing upon us. We must believe it, expect it, and receive it (Deuteronomy 28:8).

3. "And the LORD shall make you plenteous in goods": "Plenty" is what the Lord here promises. The word "goods" means everything that we need, whatever it might be (Deuteronomy 28:11).

4. "The LORD shall open unto you His good treasure": The Lord here tells us that we Believers literally have access to the treasure house of Heaven. Again, what a Promise! (Deuteronomy 28:12)

5. "And the LORD shall make you the head and not the tail": To use an earthly vernacular, someone, regarding an Alaskan dog-sled team, has well said, "if you're not the lead dog, the view never changes." To continue to use the earthly vernacular, the Lord intends for His People to be the "lead dog" (Deuteronomy 28:13).

All and every commandment is kept by the Holy Spirit if the Believer is operating and understand "The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus!" (Romans 8:2)

Majority of Christians are living under the "Law of Sin and Death." Very few Christians live in "The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus."

There are seven great Laws outlined in the New Testament, all devised and created by God. They are:
1. The Law of God (Romans 7:22)
2. The Law of Sin and Death (Romans 7:23)
3. The Law of the Mind (Romans 7:23)
4. The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:2)
5. The Law of Faith (Romans 3:27)
6. The Law of Christ (Gal. 6:2); and,
7. The Law of Liberty (James 1:25)

Romans 8:13 says, "If you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live" (i.e., all Laws of God and commandments of Jesus can only be kept by the Holy Spirit when the Believer place his Faith exclusively in Christ and His Finished Work, i.e., the Cross, i.e., the Blood of Jesus).

Paul warns the Believer, he said, "For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, (the) sin (nature) revived, and I died (failed God by sinning, using the flesh) (Romans 7:9)."

The Way Of The Spirit
Focus: The Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:6)
Object Of Faith: The Cross of Christ (Romans 6:1-14)
Power Source: The Holy Spirit (Romans 8:1-2, 11)
Results: Victory (Romans 6:14)

Man's Way
Focus: Works.
Object Of Faith: Performance.
Power Source: Self.
Results: Defeat!

Does this sound similar to the destiny of Israel future as head of the nations during the millennium?
And then judging of them will be done according to Mat 19:28 And Jesus said unto them (the disciples), Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory (Jesus receives His own throne in Rev 4:2), ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. :shrug

Paul commented on such a "gospel"

Do you have explicit quotes as examples?
If Pastor Jimmy Swaggart feeds some of the flock in this present time, should we seek fault with it, or even seek to tear down the faith of some`?
I read in Php 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
 
I was under the impression he was a "prosperity gospel" preacher.
Did I get that wrong?
I haven't noticed it, though he may have been at times, but I would ask since you stated "I quit paying any attention to him the second time he was caught with a prostitute", what is scriptural in such situations? To me it is evident he has yet to have committed a sin unto physical death as did Moses, Ananias, and Sapphira. Thanks.

1Ti 3:2-7 Now the overseer*** is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.
He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?)
He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil.
He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.


*** Overseer: (Gr. ἐπίσκοπος - episcopos) The word refers to the senior elder (Gr: πρεσβύτερος - presbuteros) or what we would call the "pastor."
By his actions, he is disqualified.

And, rather than submit to the discipline of the church with which he was affiliated, he refused to accept their judgment which was according to the bylaws and regulations he had agreed to when he was ordained. Then he started his own organization so he could continue his television show.

If he had submitted to the discipline of those whom he agreed to be under, he could have been properly re-instated. BUt he rebelled against them and broke his agreement with them.

1Th 5:12-13 But we beseech you, brethren, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

That is false.
The commandments to which God refers in Deut 28:1 is the Law of the Old Covenant.
What did Paul say about keeping the Law?
Gal 3:10 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed be every one who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, and do them."

In order to observe and to do all his Commandments which I command thee this day, a Christian must keep all the Jewish festivals, (that means going to Jerusalem 3 times a year), eat only clean food, offer animal sacrifices for his sins,etc.
In other words, Jimmy Swaggart is telling Christians that if they keep all the law of Moses they will be blessed.
Only, no one other than Jesus ever kept all the law of Moses.

Also, then only thing that scripture says that Gentiles are required to do is:
Act 15:28-29 For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols and from blood and from what is strangled and from unchastity. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell."

And the Law was specifically given to the Jews with the promise that if the kept it they would live long in the land which God gave them and they would prosper.
Deu 5:32-33 You shall be careful to do therefore as the LORD your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. You shall walk in all the way which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land which you shall possess.

Well, you certainly have scripture describing what an overseer’s, or elder’s spiritual life in a church should reflect, but what do you think about Gal 6:1? Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Now I’m not speaking of an unrepentant Christian such as we find in 1Co 5:1. It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. Not only was the man guilty, but the Corinthian assembly was told to repent as it were in 1Co 5:2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you, and the verdict in 1Co 5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Now the man was punished by his peers, but then we read in 2Co 2:6-8.
2Co 2:6 Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.
2Co 2:7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
2Co 2:8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.

Should we do the same? Was Jimmy's public confession sufficient? I'll go no further with this, but I believe there are going to be many doubters surprised to see what the redeeming blood of our Savior accomplishes in Jimmy's life, and where he will appear in eternity.

That is not talking about a pastor.
And, since Mr. Swaggart refused to submit to the discipline of his superiors, the following is more appropriate:
Mat 18:15-17 If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
He just started his own thing and continued to march.
Should we do the same? Was Jimmy's public confession sufficient?
It was sufficient for the forgiveness of the specific sin.
It was no sufficient to restore him to a position of leadership.
And he did not repent of his rebellion against the oversight of and submission to the church in which he was ordained.
That sin has not been repented of as far as I know. God knows.
But it appears that his rebellion and refusal to step down has something to do with the $150 million that his "ministry" takes in every year. That does not reflect the Gospel of Jesus.
And it does not address the damage he caused when all the teachers and administrators got laid off from his university when the students left after his error.
I believe there are going to be many doubters surprised to see what the redeeming blood of our Savior accomplishes in Jimmy's life, and where he will appear in eternity.
Well, that is speculation, "pie in the sky."

The scripture says he is disqualified.
