I am going to read (actually listen to) Psalm 51 everyday leading up to Easter. Anyone care to join me (we can encourage each other).
'Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity And cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, And my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom.'

This is only up to verse 6. If you use the link above (starting at https) it will bring you right to the chapter. At the above right you will see a sound icon. Click it and the text will be narrated. I hope to memorize most of it.

There were 3 things that struck me when I read the psalm today.

How Great God's Compassion and forgiveness is

What great faith David had.

Just how much I need to be cleansed.

Psalm 51 NKJV

Verse
7. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8. Make me hear joy and gladness,
that the bones you have broken may rejoice.

9. Hide your face from my sins,
And blot out all my inquities .

Praying that God will pour out His grace on us all.

Can I share a story? An Evangelist came to my Church and preached on Ps. 51 (Different Church back about 1999, I lived in a different State). She was a Missionary. From India. TO the United States. At MY Church?!?

She thanked God for Eugene Peterson and the way God used him to make such deep Truths simple in English, so that she could get it. This of course referred to the version called The Message; I had heard of the project, but hadn't paid much attention.

She was there for a week of services. The next service she prayed for everyone that came forward. BY NAME! I think that's what they used to call 'livin' right?' I mean, this alone was miraculous, it was a large congregation and if she knew anyone by name it was just a few. Not to mention the power of her prayers that continued to be evident long after she left.

I decided to listen. Yup, Ps 51 is good stuff!!

Well so far so good. This is Monday already and this was posted on Saturday. I've been here reading it every day since then exactly like I promised I would.

You know, I have read that verse every day since you posted it and every day since then it has become clearer and clearer. And today I think it is the clearer to me than ever. And I didn't even really make any sense of it at all the first day. I think I just discovered the secret of understanding the Bible. The more I read it, the clearer it will become. And the closer I will be to God and understanding how He wants me to live my life.

I'm going to be completely one hundred percent honest with you, I might have missed a day so I read it twice just in case to make up for it.

Alright, since I believe that honesty is the best policy, I totally forgot about this challenge so I read it through several times making up for the last week that I missed doing it and every single time it starts sinking in more and more of what that verse actually means. At least to me. :)

I had to read it through a few times because I keep forgetting, but... I think that I'm the only one still trying to meet this challenge lol unless others are being very private and secretive about it. :readbible

I forgot to post on here yesterday that I think I'm the only one who actually met this challenge. Unless others were just choosing to remain silent about it. Even on the days when I forgot since I didn't always remember, I still read it multiple times to catch up on it. So I have to say that I am rather proud of myself since I feel like that was quite an accomplishment. I hope everybunny had a very hoppy Easter yesterday! Lol And thank the Lord that death has been defeated! :cross
