Well this may be nothing but I haven't been to an eye doctor in several years now, so wondering.

Lately I've noticed a thing where I'll be reading manga but have to stop and blink or rub my eyes before I can continue reading. Like, I can definitely see, but suddenly I can't concentrate on details enough to read, or something. It's hard to describe.
Any idea what that may be, if it's anything?

They could also be dry. Try a product designed to lubricate your eyes. There are dozens OTC.

Switch to High-Contrast extension if using Chrome, all these bright white backgrounds are really to bright to be staring at for long periods of time.

As a thought, my eye doctor says over the counter readers will not hurt your vision..

Vision is nothing to ignore ...

Have you considered the possibility that your eye problem is spiritually based? I confess that I don't know much about "manga", but I have read stuff by those who do read it, that many of those comics have content from false religions (spirit guides, false gods, etc.). Do you get the same problem when you read the Bible or Scripturally based Christian books?

Job made a covenant with his eyes to not look upon certain things (Job 31:1) and David said, " I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: ..." (Psalm 101:3a).

I'm not saying what you are reading is wicked. You need to be the judge of whether or not it is acceptable in Yahweh's sight.

Are you saying you can't concentrate on details enough to read because it look blurry, or you have double vision? Does this come and go at different times that don't always coincide with, perhaps being tired, thirsty, or whatever?

How long has it been since you've had a complete physical with blood tests and all? Sometimes other physical conditions can cause eye problems that an eye doctor isn't qualified to diagnose. I'd suggest (and this is what I did) having an eye exam and getting glasses if that's what's needed. If that doesn't work, I'd get a complete physical from an MD to make sure there isn't anything else causing it. Vision problems that come on suddenly like that can also be symptoms of other things. Like Reba said, it's not something to mess around with.

On the manga, the main reason it happens when I'm reading manga is that manga is 99% of what I read lately. So of course if vision problems come up it's going to be then. (Which makes it sound like I'm reading 24/7, but really I'm just reading a couple series and mainly that's on or near weekends.)
Think I've also had it happen with the computer, like when doing PowerPoint...?

It's not blurry, I don't think. And don't think it's double vision. It's happened only a few times now, so not sure if it coincides with anything.
It's....kind of similar to how I see the world from my left eye, maybe? Like, my left eye isn't blurry, but I have trouble seeing details with it and reading with it is super frustrating and nearly impossible. (Right eye is 20/20. Left eye is 20/40. Or at least that was the case when I went to the eye doctor yearly.)

And I can barely take my animals to the vet right now, really can't afford to see an eye doctor.

Thinking more...seems to be at times like when I get off the computer to rest my eyes or something. (Being on the computer for several hours does strain my eyes.) And the time it happened while on the computer I was tired, had been up all night the night before I think.

I like to live dangerously :)
(That and there are important things I do on the computer, like draw, which is a long process. Guess I need to take more breaks.)

If you are not wearing reading glasses, it may be a simple fix like that. Walmart sells cheap ones that you can try or you may need prescription lens. I wear different strength lenses for reading and computing.

With all due respect, you should be reading the Bible 99% of the time and manga 1%. Man does not live on junk food alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of Yahweh. :readbible

Try different distances.
Blinking a bit more...

Not that you need reading glasses yet....but it's coming down the road for you. Until then your arms will be long enough.

"One person's faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables." (Rom 14.2 NIV)

It certainly does sound like extended computer usage may be the issue.
I would recommend you to focus on an object in the distance which allows your eyes to adjust to different distances; this is good practise if your job requires you to use a computer for extended lengths without frequent breaks.
Your eyes are very precious and can be easily damaged so frequent breaks and eyecare is essential.

Last month when I went to eye doctor to get some new glass's she said I was going blind from this glaucoma. It's scary but I believe its from looking at these computer screens for the past 15 years for 8+ hours a day. I've lost about 1/2 sight in one eye and its putting a lot of strain on the good eye to get the work done. It started with seeing halo's at night on headlights and street lamps, go get checked if ya see that. Switching to dark backgrounds and white text for the past couple of months has made a huge difference. The eye strain is 1/2 what it was before. If you go outside on a bright day it's not as bright as the bright white screen's we are exposed to everywhere on the net. If you look at the sun it'll blind ya, so will bright white screens for hours and hours.

I think both of my biological parents had glasses, so I guess it only makes sense that I might need them sooner or later.

I actually wore glasses for years, but it wasn't to see. It was for a different eye condition.
