Is a practising homosexual saved? I've been hearing a lot of gay people claiming to be saved Christians (I live in Canada) and with the Fed election coming up gay unions are a topic that is often disscussed.
 
No! One cannot be a homosexual and be saved at the same time.
  • Why? Because homosexuality is a sin and if one does not leave that lifestyle then there is no repentance involved.
 
No - as Collier said, if they are continuing in the lifestyle there is no real repentance and therefore no salvation.

That being said, I do believe that there are many Christians who have homosexual tendencies, and that these tendencies in and of themselves are not sin. If the individual dwells on these thoughts and cultivates their desires then it becomes sin. If his/her desire is to please the Lord, they will deny their own desires and strive to live a holy life for God's glory. I don't see this any differently than a single heterosexual lusting after someone who is not their spouse. Sexuality is a powerful thing and many heterosexuals have fallen into sin in this area - I think that we need to have more compassion and understanding for what it is the homosexual has to deal with when they come to Christ.

Yes - If they realize that homosexuality is a sin hated by God, and they give themselves over to Him, then yes, they are saved.

We are all sinners. What we need to do is to strive to live pure lives by turning from our sinful habits, and trust that He will sustain us. We all need to be able to say "not my will, but Yours." We need to trust that God will work in our lives - that He will refine us if we seek Him.
 
I realize that my post may be deleted because I am LDS, but I just wanted to ask because it is on topic, if it matters if the non-practicing homosexual still has those carnal lustfull thoughts even if he doesn't act on them.

Can a homosexual be saved?


Not while he's continuing in this practice.
We , as Christians, are not to comform the Word of God to our lifestyles,
but we are to comform our lifestyles to the Word of God. The apostle Paul clearly, condones this practice.
The Bible says , that anyone walking according to the lusts of the flesh,
will not inheret the Kingdom of God.

the bible is clear on this matter. It is also clear that there would be those false teachers that would come along and try and get the church to believe that people who practice sin are saved. They are part of those who lead in the falling away from sound doctrine. The bible says this.

1Cr 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
1Cr 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
1Cr 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

1Jo 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
1Jo 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jo 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1Jo 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.


So you see that the bible is clear on the subject of practicing sin. No one who does so is saved. Those whoa re false just cannot accept this truth. They are on the worng raod and headed to a condemnation with those who practices sin since the way is narrow.

Mat 7:14 Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

There is no such thing as a non practicing homosexual. They are either a homosexual or they are not. A homosexual is someone who practices the sin. Those who come to Christ do not practice it. The word says and such WERE some of you, but you were washed. The fact that we all suffer temptation only shows thta we all are in the fight, but we do not carry a title of non practicing whatever.

The sin of fornication includes sodomy, promiscuity and all forms of sexual practices outside of Marriage.

Ro 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

You have to be kidding. Try reading the bible and you will see what it says.
It is true that the word homosexual is a modern day word to discribe sexual relations between people of the same sex, so sodomy is iused, but the term homosexual is a valid word to discribe the same term.
 
i was just flipping through the forums and i came to this one first...

i figured i better mention to u guys that there is a place for god's healing with homosexuality. its no so cut and dry as you would like it to be... salvation is a change in heart, repentance is a "change". changes sometimes take time... homosexualy its a big problem because of how most unbelievers view it. they see it as a preferance. while most christians understand that it is indeed a sin. a practicing homosexual could be somone who knows that it is wrong but lacks the growth/conviction/spiritual strength to withstand the temptations presented.

also i think there is another problem with homosexuality that hasnt been mentioned here, its very addictive. i would give the same advice to somone who has a cocain addiction as i would somone with a homosexually addiction. give it to god, and let him help you work through it. work with your believing family and let them help you grow to a better understanding

im pretty sure all christians have struggled with sexual sins of one kind or another, and me myself have fallen to my knees at the altar of lust on more than one occasion. does this mean i am eternally damned because i make a mistake? no... we are saved by faith, not by our ability to be good.

the question that i think is really being asked here is "Is it possible for somone to willfully sin and disregard the spirit's callings, CONSTANTLY and still profess the faith and be saved?" to that i would say yes it is possible but it is very dangerous, and a christian that finds themselves doing this needs to make a carefull evaluation of their life and double check their spiritual wellbeing. failing to withstand temptations is human, but living like an unbeliever can be evidence of a unbelieving heart.

I was not kidding. The Bible is quite clear about what constitutes sin and what does not. There are a number of people that indulge in the act of Sodomy but who are not "Homosexual". There are people that are "Homosexual" and have never indulged in the act of Sodomy.

My point was that "sexuality" is not what the Bible speaks against (Homo or hetero) it is Fornication and Adultery that are sins.
