Should Race matter in a Christian Marriage? I ask this question because I actually had an ordained minister say

"Inter-racial Marriage are unbiblical. Just because Moses had one, doesn't make it right. Inter-racial marriages will cause some to mock their Children, so that is causing them to stumble. That makes it sin."

Dime and I have already talked a little about this, but I'm curious to see your responses.

I don't think it matters one bit. We are creatures-anew in Christ!

This man's cowardly "protecting the children" cover for hiding his racism, or atleast the appearance of; could cause far more to stumble than a gasp.... child of mixed ethnic-heritage!

We should always have respect for everyone, but remember being ordained is meaningless. Unless ones called forth from God and ordained "by His Spirit".

I concur! I don't think it should matter that much because we are ALL Children of God.

I think a point Dime made when we talked about this really clarifies the issue.

We as Christians are the Bride of Christ, correct? He was most likely of mediterrainian discent, so he would be having an Inter-racial marriage to everyone who is not Jewish.

This clearly show the hypocrisy in such a racist perspective.

I agree with all of you, but I just figured it was something worth discussing.

Exactly right Brutus.

Racism is truly caused by ignorance. My grandfather refuses to visit my church because my minister is black and his wife is white. It is scary that these opinions still exist today.

Perhaps this ordained Minster needs to read his Bible again. Blatantly racist statements make me incredibly angry. :smt093

So if there is the possibility that my children will be mocked because of others stupidity then that would be a sin for me to have children???

Wow I love that logic (sarcasm) :-?

I better not have kids they might be short and obviously thats a sin on me for making them short with the possibility of them being harassed. :biggrin

Sorry people can't base their lives on others ignorance and flat out stupidity.

BTW this goes back to another post I made earlier. :-D :-D

Is that his whole argument?

I think when someone makes such a bold statement, the onus is really on that person to prove Biblically that interracial marriage is *ahem* unBiblical ;)

I have never seen anything to support such a sad point of view, we are all the same in God's eyes, regardless of what colour of skin we may have.

First, there is nothing whatsoever wrong with interracial marriage.

That being said, are you sure you stand by this logic Brutus?

Couldn't I just as easily change it to:

We as Christians are the Bride of Christ, correct? He was definitely a male, so he would be having a homosexual marriage to everyone who is not female.

This clearly show the hypocrisy in such a sexual orientationist perspective.

The Logic could not be streched so far because Homosexuality is proven as sin inter-racial marriages are not. But for such a sake, how does this sound though:

We who believe are the Church. The Church is said to be the bride of Christ. The Church is made up of many races, so then that would be an interracial marriage.

Nice brutus.

I actually think this is the first thread that everyone is in complete agreement. :biggrin :biggrin :biggrin

Not even close. I have always been against interacial-marriages. If you are white marry white. If you are black marry black. People should have enough common sense to stay within their own race, but common sense is something many people lack in todays society.

Okay, that's clearly your opinion, but can you back it up with God's word? If Not, why hold such a view?

I am sure there is scripture if I were to look for it. Why would you want to marry outside your race?

If you're sure there is a scripture, find it. Otherwise your view is unbiblical. As to marrying a woman of another ethnicity, if It were God's will, I would in a heart beat.

Actually there is a very good reason for interracial marriages. If you start marrying too closely in the gene pool the ears start getting larger, diseases start occuring more frequently and the general health declines.
The larger the gene pool the better biologically.

One of my best friends is getting married this weekend. He is Chinese and his fiance is white. He treats her extremely well and she treats him extremely well and they love each other, that is the reason why they should marry.

Until you find the scripture you seem to be in the wrong. If you find it let us know, but you may be looking for a while and find some really cool stuff that is even more interesting.

I would be incredibly interested in seeing that actually.

Why would you want to marry outside your race?

why not? If I fell in love with someone outside of my own race, and it were within God's will I would

That says it all...what is the will of God in ones life. I am single and content. But if God allowed me to find a man who stood on the Word of God, strong in faith, and edifying, loving me as Christ loved the church...well, it wouldn't matter if he were a native from an island of his own...after careful prayer and confirmation from God...He wouldn't have to ask me twice!!
