Wow- have you seen one?

Are people killing them when they see them on their property?

I think I would.
I don't live near a marsh, and you have to have an permit to hunt but its an open permit. one cant hunt in your backyard for them. if its not zoned for agriculture. im not im rs-6. that doesn't mean if I see one I cant shoot it. just I cant drive around looking for them in the woods by me.

I was just thinking that if you had some on your property, then you could kill it and no one would know.

I would not want one of those lurking around.

lol. I have used my air tools at night and they echo of homes two blocks away.my house is in this image. albeit its not the same as shown. but its there. as you can see a gun shot will be heard.View attachment 5720

We have a ton of garter snakes, I saw a snake one time in the mountains, it was bulgy looking, but short - my first thought was an asp, but we don't have those here. We also have rattlesnakes on the east side but I have never seen one.

I was referring to this gigantic boa constrictors people have as pets and then they don't want them anymore. Is that a huge problem or is it hyped?

When I was a teenager, I lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma. One day, I found a snake in our front yard. I didn't know what kind it was (and still don't). It was completely green, with no markings, and big enough to wrap itself about 3 times around my arm. With the snake wrapped around my arm, I went inside and said "Mom, look what I found!!" I don't think I have to tell you what happened next.

Yes a gunshot would bring the police, but an ax is silent. Or hitting him over the head with a 2X4? Lighting him on fire - lol.

Now, instead of flying to Florida for beaches, I want to find me a boa. lol

they can bite. a boa still has teeth, he just doesn't kill with them.

There has to be another way to kill it other than shoot it. What if you took a magnifying glass and magnified the sun onto it and lit it on fire that way. lol We used to do that to slugs, it's just a bit bigger.

a 9 to 13 ft snake good luck with that.

I saw a picture of an exploded boa after trying to eat one. Did crocs have predators prior?
only man. not to long ago, the croc and gator were nearly extinct and have made come back. there are hunting seasons for those here. I have had gator tail, but not feet, yet.

lol, sorta of.
Is your house the one with the swimming pool?
no, that home I call the no farm barn. a former boss of mine calls it that its shaped like a barn and was owned by his sister whom died in that house. there are about three of those style homes here. one of them is an actually coup. which isn't shown.

It looks like not all the roads are paved? They are gravel?

It looks flat and not too many trees. Here, it is hilly and you wouldn't be able to see all the homes because of the trees. Although some housing developments, the trees are all gone because they can build house 5 ft apart - literally.

duh, florida and this area was a marsh. the roads were cleared but not paved in the 50s. I think the topos shows this are as far back 1957. no homes were on it then. only the road north and south and the one two streets up from the home that has that pool is paved. I also learned how to drive a stick in this community though I didn't live here. a friend did and he used his truck.

We have some gators in a lake two blocks from our house. But they are small (maybe 4-5 feet). You can actually call them with a "sucking, popping" sound from your mouth, and they will come from all the way across the lake.
