Now and again I doodle, sketch, draw, paint and make things from my heart.
I am not afraid to open my heart for you to look into. After all, all you will find is yourself.

Faces of Christ #1

I miss my companion named Luke. He was a red and tan Kelpie dog, much like this one.
We would go walking every day, mostly to the local park. He was so smart and very affectionate. I could talk for ever about him.

One day I decided to sit on the top step, of the backdoor, to watch the world go by. Luke came up behind me and with his muzzle nudged me over to the left; then sat right next to me and leaned against my body. While we both watched the world go by there was a strong connection of love for each other.

It amazes me how some people cannot make that connection with God's creatures.

By the way, I not only talk to animals, but to insects and plants too. They all respond to love.

Because animals are innocent, lacking any evil whatsoever, they love as God does, completely and unconditionally. Humans and dogs have been changed by our long association, each becoming more like the other. Between us is an ancient friendship that transcends the boundaries of species.

Research has shown that when a human and his dog gaze into each other's eyes, they both show brain changes that are healthy and pleasant. We understand each other, from long partnership.

By the way, I not only talk to animals, but to insects and plants too. They all respond to love.

I notice that people who have a bond with animals, talk to them as if they were people. And it seems to work.

Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened.

Partial sketch for a painting idea.
Needs a title: ________________________ any thoughts?

The story is, the world is like a dense forest, all dark, full fears and self-denial. Everybody is living in the dark. Then one day someone comes across an open field, all exposed, for all to see. The word gets out and all come to have a look-see. They fear the exposure of the light, yet are drawn in by what the light reveals. Color, brightness, fresh-air, fragrance and life of the flowers and grass in the field.

Their fear of exposure keeps them hidden behind their tree of self-denial. Some risk getting closer than others. One eventually steps into the light of full exposure and vulnerability. With their truth revealed for all to see, they feel totally liberated. That one is now dancing under the spotlight of Truth. Even though that one gets glorified by the light, and even the flowers join in with the glorification, the others still fear letting go of their tree, to join in.

It's surprising how care and affection can be shared by humans and animals:
Thanks for sharing video, for I can relate very much.

Back in 1989 a Bobby Hawk got blown off course by a storm. It was weak and hungry. Fed it and eventually set free. Whenever I was reading something, it would perch on the rafter above my head and look down to see what I was reading. Merlin became its adopted name.

One night a Tawny Frogmouth (Nightjar) flew in front of my car and got hit. I took it home for rehabilitation. It suffered more from shock and bruising than anything else. When I went to hand feed it, its mouth opened up so wide it frightened me. I was not expecting it to be so huge. Unfortunately I did not know that I should have released it back from where it got hit, and at night-time. The Frogmouth got chased by the local birds.

You're an amazing man, Hermit. I once as a child, adopted a mallard duck that was unable to fly. Don't know why, but after we took him in (I named him "Ivan" for the duck in Peter and the Wolf) he thrived. Every so often, we'd walk him the block over to the Mississippi River and he'd swim around a while and then we'd go home.

One fall, he was swimming when a flock of ducks flew over and he remembered who he was. He joined them. I remember that moment with sadness and pride.

Because animals are innocent, lacking any evil whatsoever, they love as God does, completely and unconditionally.

Unless its a hungry lion.

I have four dogs each seemingly with their own personality and characteristics and I love'em to death. But they do behave like dogs, they are pack oriented animals and will bond and protect most members of the pack, even us humans. But remember when a dog comes up and starts licking your face, they aren't kisses. Its trying to get you to regurgitate your food so it can eat too.

:biggrin

You are right. And as I was thinking about this, how much God loves us, and that many animals were put here merely to comfort us...that I will bet you a dollar that when we get to heaven...that our beloved pets that have passed on will be there waiting for us.

Because that's how God rolls. Awesome and super cool.

Unless its a hungry lion.

I don't think so Brother. Daniel walked out of the lions den. We're promised to walk out...

13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

We humans are exactly the same but in a human way - Group psychology is similar, and we war and defend our group to the death.

I am assuming you are making a funny.
My dog Luke often gave just one single lick. Remember, dogs use uninhibited ways to sense and determine the condition (health, emotions, intentions) of others. Licking is a kiss and also an added way of determination of well-being in the other.
Humans, in an uninhibited way, do the same. We can sense the condition of others by how they look, behave, smell, feel, and react.

A lick from a dog is meant to communicate affection and trust. It's not given lightly, although there are dogs that will nervously give you many tiny licks. That is generally meant to express submission and elicit affection.

One day Luke was pawing his left eye, trying to get something out. I had a look at his eye, but saw noting. I flushed his eyes with water but that did not help. So I took him to the vet. I put Luke up onto the examination table and told him to sit. The vet pulled out a harness to put over his muzzle. I said he did not need that. The vet looked at me and decided to trust what I said. As the vet tried several times to grab the seed with a pair of tweezers, it would slip and make a snapping sound. Finally the vet grabbed it and fulled the seed out. All along Luke sat still, did not flinch one bit, and just looked at me. I gave no concern for Luke to worry about what the vet was doing. Luke trusted me explicitly. When it was over the vet stepped back and said, "In all my life as a vet, I have never seen a dog with so much trust." No doubt, I was so proud of Luke.

Here is a picture of him. He is wondering what I am doing with a metal contraption to my face.

it will be hard to say good bye when you have to use his trust to allow the injection to end his life. I had to go through this with Cheyenne. very heart wretching for me and while I have bella to make it easier. my heart aches for the blued eye husky named Cheyenne. she would hide between my legs when vets were going to give her a shot. she knew what needles did and while not so afraid that she would bite I could see the fear of the needles. I have a lot of memories of this dog. all my wife's grandkids are in photos with her. Cheyenne was a character .
