I was just sort of wondering if there was a difference because I consider myself more of a spiritual person than a Bible thumping attend church every Sunday religious person. Dont get me wrong, I'm not trying to bash those kinds of people just because I'm not one myself. It just isn't the type of person or Christian that I am. I attend a Methodist church occasionally and I'm going to be getting baptized there soon as I already announced, but I have my own set of beliefs as well.

A Christian can be religious .. A Christian can be spiritual
religion and spirituality does not make one Christian

Oh you go girl! :clap To be rather frank with you I wasn't sure how you would respond to this. As I was just telling a friend of mine what makes me Christian is the fact that I follow Jesus, doesn't really matter what else I believe. :) Just follow Him and His commandments.

It is important to define terms.

Being "religious" can mean dedicating your life to obeying God by acting in love toward His creation of people, animals, nature, etc.

It can also mean memorizing scriptures but never putting them into action except for judging other people whom you believe are not living up to your standards.
And, remember; Christianity is a "religion."

Spirituality can mean spending many, many hours in prayer and fasting as a way of life and serving others as best you can. Christian spirituality is the pursuit of holiness which is God's will for us.

Spirituality can also mean following every guru, spiritualist, new "spiritual" fad, past life regressions, seances, seeking a "spirit guide" and similar nonsense which will distract and misdirect people away from God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. That is pagan spirituality which is demonic.

Well I am definitely against that. Let's just say that I consider myself more spiritual than religious because I feel like being religious means having to follow a strict set of rules set by other Christians and I rather live my life the way that God wants me to not lIke they want me to. Meaning, what I believe is just between me and the Lord.

Religion tells you what you can and cannot do and becomes socially acceptable by mans interpretations, traditions and doctrines. Religion is what nailed Christ to the cross because the Bible is not socially acceptable to society, if it were then Christ would have died in vain. God is not about mans religion, nor does he recognize organized religion. God is about a personal relationship with you and His son Jesus Christ.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
