Why is the renewed mind so important to the born again? The renewed mind will be the only mind the "Christ in you" will have for life expression.
Yielding the mind to the HolySpirit is a foundational process, when the mind relinquishs control it has had to have over the sin-nature then the HolySpirit has availability to the believers mind, and not until then, Gal. 6:13
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

The individual must be willing to do this, but the problem with many individuals they do not know they are still trying to control their new Christ in you nature, which only operates in Grace and does not need to be controlled.
Mind renewal brings life transformation, Romans 12:2,
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

This is the same thing as "until the time appointed of the father" in Gal. 4:1-2.
Christ cannot live through you from His Jesus of Nazareth Mary body.
The mind of the believer is the only organ of life-expression Christ can have in this world.
A many membered body, with each member having its own expression of Christ.
The Mary body being Glorified, and seated at the right hand of the Father.
For example; let us use the fruit of the Spirit, it is exactly that, the fruit of the Spirit.
It is not your fruit as a Christian, it can be in you as your only life, and comes out of you in expression but it can never be produced by the believer.
The soul is the organ for expression, in the case of a Christian, Christ comes through you, you're creation, you were created a living soul.

It is offered to the believer to live by the new life-nature in them, but there is no longer an "I" Adam since the cross. All there is for the believer now, is Christ, Gal. 2:20.
The believer is crucified in Christ, all in Adam dead.
So how should a Christian live; a Christian is to live by the life-nature in them, it will be expressed by your soul.
This is a glorious life for believers, but on the other hand trying to please God all the time is very arduous task.
The pleasing of the Father is Christ in you, and then of coarse coming to knowledge of the life you have in Christ so the life of Christ can be expressed as your creation, Gal. 2:20.
But the simplicity of the birthing (because of the cross) is; the pleasing of the Father is Christ in you, Col. 1:19,
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

You coming into understanding of that birthing will help you live life here and now.
Why do men not preach this, simply because they do not understand the birthing and the full impact the cross has had on humanity, therefore cannot lead you in this manner.
Preaching about some end time event or giving history lessons, is a far cry from preaching the certified gospel, which is "the revelation of Jesus Christ," Gal. 1:11-12,
11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

The most miserable are the ones that know Him only as the historical Jesus, never coming to the revelation that Christ is in them, 1 Cor. 15:19,21-22,
19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

Reiterating; I thank God for the faithful leaders of our time, searching and researching the word of God to give meat to the saints.
But there is another element to this religion business, they become nothing more than a warehouse manager, CEO's of God's people, reaping their reward now.
Paul says "it is not another gospel, but the gospel of the lord Jesus Christ perverted."
Twisted to fit the listener, if you have an itching ear, their message will take care of you.
Can you see the importance of "let this mind be in you."
We squabble over doctrine, all the while Satan runs ramshod over the believer.
Never getting anything fixed in our mind, no absolutes, no lifestyle conducive to the Christ in you ,the mystery of the word stays a mystery, no revelation.
When! the scripture says it has been revealed.
"Allow this mind to be in you, that was also in Christ Jesus."

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

I know this passage is about little children, but I was drawn to it in the sense of when we first come to Christ through the Spiritual rebirth that we are at that time a very young child of God that needs Spiritual training.

A Spiritually renewed mind is an empty mind void of worldly things as now we seek those heavenly understandings from above. Like a child that is born from the womb that has no knowledge yet, this is the same with the Spiritual rebirth. We have to allow ourselves to grow in Spiritual knowledge and understanding as the Holy Spirit is our comforter teacher and the Church, body of Christ, nurtures our growth.

Soul man, you have presented an absolute crucial thought process that If researched by everyone who studies seriously, will change their walk in Yahshua ha`Mashiah (Jesus the Messiah). Because your thread is so important for all Forum participants, I'd like to jump aboard with you, if you don't mind.

To stay with the OP, I see your presentation as "Replacing The Knowledge of Evil to Good." First of all, most Christians (Called Out Ones) ignore, or have never been taught the importance of a faithful study, every day, of the Word of Elohim (God).

You ask, "Why is a study of the Word of Yahweh so important?" Because it washes us from the filth of the world and the energy of the cancelled Adamic nature....Here's a verse that helps to explain this process....
Ephesians 5:26 "That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water with the word". Cleanse it? What's the it? Glad you asked, Ephesians 5:27 "So that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing." The Church is all the "Called Out Ones" (Christians).

1Peter 2:2 "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby." AND Ephesians 4:15 "But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even the Messiah." There are, IMO, so many folk who put little interest in studying the Scriptures on their own. When asked why? They say, "I go to church on Sunday two times and go to Wednesday Bible study, that's enough for me. My Pastor teaches me all I know." Boy, that's dangerous, isn't it?

The quality of your relationship with Jesus and your walk on that narrow road, depends on your own walk with God, not your Pastor's. Many pastors have wicked private lives. It is my opinion, in order to change evil to good, is to have a private serious Bible study of your own. Asking Abba Father to reveal Truth, and knowledge on how to navigate that narrow road that leads to His Kingdom. Ask Him to wash you with His Word before you start any Bible study, and to grow you up.

May Elohim richly bless each one of you at this honoring Christ's birth period of time.

Come on now Chopper......................"my preacher says differently as after all he should know what he is talking about!!!" (not directed at you Chopper, just using your name to go along with this phrase as to what I am sure we have all heard.)

How many times do we hear that come from others that only open their Bible on Sunday or a Wednesday Bible study, but have no idea of what was being preached, but it sure made them feel good.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. 7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

The Christian mind contains and functions by either one of these two prime principles, bondage or compatibility.
Bondage to the Christian occurrs when we use 'the knowledge of good and evil' to live life.
Freedom occurrs when the mind becomes compatible with our new nature through Grace knowledge or revelation knowledge.
There in lies the the bondage or freedom for the believer.
An avid student of the word should give themselves totally to understanding how our Father desires for them to live in this world.
In time through understanding they will see their Father has desired for them to live by a nature. Since the first nature was contrary to Him, He provided a new nature by which His sons and dauthers can live by.
As Christians we are taught many things through the years, some good and some not so good.
Religion has trained the believer to war against anything they have not taught them.
That is what causes the confusion in Christianity, like we are going to be demon possessed if we listen to something other than their doctrine.
So replacing the old man knowledge is what needs to happen, having the Lydia heart out of the book of Acts, she was open to the things of God.

I know this passage is about little children, but I was drawn to it in the sense of when we first come to Christ through the Spiritual rebirth that we are at that time a very young child of God that needs Spiritual training.

Yes it is a good verse with the reference to mind renewal.
For the most part the mind goes unchanged at salvation, and will need to be trained in the things of God.
The HolySpirit is a very patient teacher, understanding the believer for the first time in their life are spiritual beings.
The training can be severe at times, the battle for the Christian will be; the world-the flesh-and the enemy of their soul.

There is a lot of Truth in what you are saying here, my friend and Team member. To go along with this statement of yours Soul man....
Religion has trained the believer to war against anything they have not taught them.

I have been criticized for the amount of time that I spend in the Tora (first five books of the OT). There are preachers who never teach out of the Old Testament. Is there anyone out there that values the Old Testament? Am I the only one that see's Christ Jesus (Yahshua) all thru the Tora?

You hit a Chopper home run there my friend :salute. Without the teachings of the OT we could never understand in full that of the NT. Many do not realize Jesus was also from the beginning before the foundation of the world.

I'd go so far as to say that the five books of Moses really has all the information a person should need to find the Lord. But I wrote "should need". God's people then did not wind up listening to God. They said, 'let not God speak to us", so the cross became necessary.

Now we talk about renewing of the mind, and seemingly get very complicated and confusing with our interpretations and meanings, so that we have long studies of what that means. OK, maybe that is all needed, but Abram just listened to the Lord and followed Him. Moses just listened to the Lord and followed Him. Could it be that renewing our minds and having the mind of Christ is as simple as just listening to the Lord and following Him? What was Moses trying to tell the people?

Deut 6:3 O Israel, you should listen and be careful to do it

Deut 6:4 Hear, O Israel!

Deut 8:19, 20... I testify against you today that you will surely perish. Like the nations that the Lord makes to perish before you, so you shall perish; because you would not listen to the voice of the Lord your God.

Deut 9:12 Now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require from you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and love HIm, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the Lord's commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good

So what was the commandments and His statutes which Moses was commanding on that day?

Duet 6:4 Hear, O Isreal!...

[That is the commandment!]

... The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!...

[That is not a commandment, that is a statement of fact that you find out when you Hear the Lord]

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your might.

[That is not a command but a conclusion. It is what happens when you Hear the Lord. You start loving Him with all your heart and all your might]

So, "Hear. O Isreal" is the foremost commandment!

But incase you missed that in the Old Testament, we have the New Testament to help explain it.

Mark 12: 28,29 One of the scribes came heard them arguing.... asked Him, "What is the foremost commandment of all? Jesus answered, "The foremost is, Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is One Lord; and you shall love the Lord your God with all you heart...

So the New Testament helps explains the Old Testament to people that were not willing to listen to the voice of the Lord! The had not renewed there mine, right? They didn't have the mind of Christ, right? That is to say they were not listening to what the Lord our God tells us, but were leaning on their own understanding. They did not Hear!

OT man did not follow God
NT man do not follow Jesus
OT, NT all the same Spirit of God that man refuses to follow back then and until the end of days. When one has the mind of Christ they also have the mind of God, John 1:1-5; Colossians 3:1-4

I'd go so far as to say that the five books of Moses really has all the information a person should need to find the Lord. But I wrote "should need". God's people then did not wind up listening to God. They said, 'let not God speak to us", so the cross became necessary.

The Cross was necessary from the beginning
Rev_13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

We study scripture to justify our sin.. When we should be studying
2Ti_3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
And will not listen

Thank you Glory Girl for defending Elohim's whole instruction to his children. Many people don't know that the Tora (first five books) are Jesus' loving instruction to those who believe in Him. The Tora is the foundation knowledge that prepares those on the narrow road of belief in Christ Jesus, and who are headed to His Kingdom.

As you say, "Without the teachings of the OT we could never understand in full that of the NT." That statement, Glory Girl is a home run as well, Bless you for being used by the Spirit of Almighty Yahweh (God).

I love You,
Chopper

We study scripture to justify our sin.. When we should be studying
2Ti_3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
And will not listen

The cross necessary because we didn't listen to Him!!!

Adam and Eve didn't seek His voice to get instructions from Him when that snake started talking to them! And they didn't follow the one rule (law) that God had given them either. But if they had decided to ask God, who was Omni-present them also, they would have gotten an answer and indeed that already knew what they shouldn't eaten from that tree.

Now Abram heard from God in a vision and believed it was the Lord talking to him, and that was counted to him as righteousness even before the Law Moses handed down from God, and even before the cross!! And Jesus while on earth and before going to the cross tells a story about a rich person in hell talking across the divide to father Abraham. And there is something about many eating at the table with Abraham.

And what do you mean by writing "We study scripture to justify our sin.. When we should be studying" You don't really think we study the scriptures to justify our sins do you. Have you not read where Jesus told the Jews "You search the Scriptures because you think tht in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life: (Jn 5:39)

The Jews when Jesus was on earth were making the mistake of thinking there study of the Scriptures would justify them and give them eternal life, when it is coming to Jesus whose name is called the "Word of God" that gives you eternal life. And if you come to a person are you not going to hear from Him? So it that Abram heard and believed and it was that which justified Him!!

Gen 15:1...the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying

So Jesus, the Word of God (Rev 19:13 ...His name is called The Word of God) came to Abram in a vision and was saying (talking) to Abram. And Abram believed it was the Lord talking to Him and that belief justified him! And that before the cross!!

Gen 15:6 Then he believed in the Lord; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.

And Paul went over that same problem with the Galatians

Gal 3:5-7 So the, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing by faith? Even so, Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham.

Gal 3:22 But the Scriptures has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

So the Scriptures are good for study and reproof, but not for salvation. They can give you the wisdom to get salvation with comes through Jesus Christ, but though that can give you that wisdom it doesn't mean they did. The Jews studied the Scriptures and missed the fact that salvation comes from hearing by faith like Abraham did and Jesus and Paul explained! It is all explained in the Scriptures, but people are still studying the Scriptures because they think in them they have eternal life, instead of using the Scriptures to lead them to Jesus Christ via the Holy Spirit who speaks, not on His own initiative but as He hears from Jesus Christ He speaks to us those words. The Spirit takes the words of God which He gets from Jesus Christ and speaks them to us. (Jn 16:13-15). So the Spirit is like a living telephone line to our Lord Jesus Christ. How did Abram hear from the Lord since it was in a vision? It was by the Spirit of God! And that before the cross.

So it was that Jesus explain, to those stiff necked people who had and studied the Scriptures when He was on earth, that is was the Spirit who gives life, and that His words were spirit and life.

Jn 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

That also was said before the cross! And Jesus said, "that I have spoken". He had spoken words that were spirit and life before the cross, but who believed?? Who was seeking Him and His words? They searched the Scriptures, thinking those words that their flesh picked up was going to justify and thus save them. And so it is that some are still thinking that today!

So what of the cross? What did it do?

Our sins separate us from God, but it is not that God wishes it like many think! When we sin we (not God) think that God will not want to talk to us sinners. So sadly we dismiss the fact that God is love and is still there for us. That is why Jesus Christ, the Word of God, came down out of heaven and let himself be killed by us men! So that He could show His forgiveness! It is not that His personality had ever changed, He was always forgiving!! Abraham did not do everything correct, but he believed and listen to the Lord despite the fact that he was not worthy to have God talk to him. Abram understood that he was not worthy and so looked to make sacrifices for his failures. Yet God never needed the sacrifices! What good are they to God? God needs our belief and always has needed it! The sacrifices, even the great sacrifice by Jesus Christ was made not because God needed it to talk to us but because we needed it to feel worthy enough to even listen to Him. And if was for that reason that God put it in the Law of Moses. God understood how we were! We needed the sacrifices to help us understand and listen to His words. Yet even the Law of Moses was not enough for us, because we keep sinning so that the sacrifices were just piling up and making us numb to the purpose. So His son was sacrificed at our hands, but even then He forgave us to show us His personality and how bad He wants us to be able to just listen to Him!

But you can read and read and read and not understand the depths of God's love for you!!

He loves you so much that He wants to be your friend, your wonderful counselor, your teacher, your father, your savior. Will you believe and listen, like Abram, or will you go back to thinking you are justified by reading?

Thank you Glory Girl for defending Elohim's whole instruction to his children. Many people don't know that the Tora (first five books) are Jesus' loving instruction to those who believe in Him. The Tora is the foundation knowledge that prepares those on the narrow road of belief in Christ Jesus, and who are headed to His Kingdom.

As you say, "Without the teachings of the OT we could never understand in full that of the NT." That statement, Glory Girl is a home run as well, Bless you for being used by the Spirit of Almighty Yahweh (God).

I love You,
Chopper

Satan tested Jesus by telling Him to make bread out of the stones in the desert and Jesus reproved Satan by saying the man but live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God!!

Can we recognized that test today?

God is Omni-present and Jesus explained that His sheep hear His voice. And we read over and over, "Today, if you hear His voice". So what day are you to hear His voice? Is it not "Today".

So it was that Moses brought down those stones in the desert with words of God written on it. But we live by every word that comes out of the mouth of our Lord who said He would never leave us!! That is to say we don't make bread out of those stones in the desert but Jesus Christ, who is called the Word of God because His sheep hear His voice "Today". We live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God, and note that it does not say that has proceeded, but instead it is written that proceeds, as in a current sense not a past sense!

So who would write "Elohim's whole instruction" when the words of God proceed out of the mouth of God "Today" to be heard.

And from whom did that instruction about "Today" come through. Was it not Moses? So the instruction in the Torah was good but it was also written that to this day God has not given them ears to hear. Thus Jesus came to earth and found those who had failed the test and were trying to make bread out of the stone Moses brought down and did not know that Jesus was the true bread that comes down our of heaven. Those mistaken people, even leaders they were, had thought the Scriptures were going to save them, as if the Scriptures were the "whole" instruction that God had for them. They had said in their hearts, who would ascent into heaven, and did not understand the Word was near them, though Moses had explained that also.
