which is better, the American fighter jets? or the Russian?

I will be the rusky advocate. im not an aviation expert, just in fun I do this

View attachment 6589 up first the mig 29 fulcrum, Russia's response to the yankee f-16.

The MIG-29 is reasonably capable, but it has reliability and durability issues. They tend to be off-line for maintenance more often than the F16. Most export customers prefer the SU series instead.

More important though, Russia could field 10,000 military aircraft in 1991, but only about 1000 today. They don't have the resources to properly upgrade existing models, let alone design new planes.

Just as important is pilot training. If they can't afford to let their pilots frequently fly their planes in training missions, they are just target practice for air forces that can. Syrian pilots don't train often in their MIG-29s, so they are no match for Israeli pilots in their F-16s. Israeli pilots train extensively.

The Sukhoi series is one of their best. Its popular with the export crowd, so the manufacturer has the cash to upgrade the model on a regular basis. India and China are licensed to produce various Sukhoi models indigenously, further adding to the number of engineers working on innovations.

We may get a demonstration of how Russian designed planes fare against US designed planes. China has been building military bases in territory claimed by US allies. Russian armed forces are carrying out joint war games with China in the area.

Post WWII China has repeatedly demonstrated that it is not afraid to mix things up. China fought the US to a standstill in Korea, and won in Vietnam. China even invaded Russia a few times. They seem to be serious about claiming nearby fish and energy, and Russia is backing them up.

US troops won Tet. Tet did achieve its primary objective of making US voters lose confidence in the strategy being followed, and demand withdrawal. The US won the battle (Tet), but lost the war (South Vietnam was conquered by the North).

Voters don't like long wars. Especially when conscription forcibly takes unwilling children away from voters.

next up the sukoi 27
It's 'look down' radar capability is somewhat unconventional

And you think has changed? I know that but militarily China would hit pearl harbor.yes we still have that in hawaii.

China will not attack Pearl. They only care about their borders. They will defend newly built military bases, and claim nearby fish and energy. The Phils have no hope of dislodging them, so it comes down to whether or not the US will.

BTW, the Japanese attack on Pearl accomplished nothing. It was a silly strategy.

If they had more might.they did make it to alaska.they also bought a year as we had to rebuild.so in boxing one doesn't jab first to set up an attack.odd the hit of pearl harbor would remove any threat of our presence for some time.Japan can't engage them for long right now but they are building.Korea idk

Japan attempted to defend their transports across an island empire, but they invested little in anti-sub technology. Their transports were easy target practice for our subs, even before the rest of the fleet arrived. Honshu could not import resources to feed their factories. Their ships and planes did not have enough fuel to train properly, they could not upgrade hardware without resources, and their troops on remote islands could not be supplied.

Their only chance was to ferry natural resources across the short hop from the mainland. Their entire fleet would have been needed just to protect their transports, along with CAP flown over the fleet by land based fighters.

China is not an island. They can import resources by land from their ally Russia, the stans, India, etc... Russia alone has vast resources in Siberia, which China will be happy to help them mine. China can stay in the field for years, waiting for voters to tire of a war where no American territory is as risk. They proved this model in Korea and Vietnam.

Japan enraged US voters with a sneak attack. Voters were behind FDRs declaration of war. China has been careful not to directly threaten any US territory. Just far away places that most Americans have never heard of, or care about. Will voters really send their children to defend uninhabited islands just so the Phils can fish there?
