cubedbee,
I am afraid that you are totally miss-understanding the passages as well as the term that is translaterd "glutton."
I will say that this is not all yuor falt since the translators did a bad jog of translating the word. First the word does not mean overweight or fat. It has nothing to do with that. Here is what it covers in the Hebrew;

zalal {zaw-lal'}
1) to be worthless, be vile, be insignificant, be light

a) (Qal)

1) to be worthless, be insignificant

2) to make light of, squander, be lavish with

2) to shake, tremble, quake

a) (Niphal) to shake, quake

In other words it is someone who runs into excess of riotess living and sin. The gluttony is for sin, not being overweight. It is not dealing with being over weight as you are trying to suggest. Again give me the scripture where God calls being overweight sin and the scripture where it gives the requirements as to how much we should weigh. My friend you are simply trying to justify a false beliefe you have. It is not sin to be what you call overweight. God NEVER says or even suggests such.

No, being overweight is not, in and of itself, sinful. Some people are unlucky enough to have hormonal imbalances. However, the reason most people are overweight is because of lavish and excessive living. Instead of eating for survivial in moderation, people consume huge meals that contains double or triple of what they need to eat. People don't eat the basic healthy foods God has given us, but instead crave worthless junkfood with sugar. Overeating is a harmful addiction, just like drugs. Look at any study on dieting, and you will see that people are unable to break away from the hold of food on their lives.

Speaking of drugs, give me the scripture where God calls using drugs a sin?

cubedbee,
prove what you arte trying to say with the bible! You are adding to scripture and the bible says that those who do that will be judged. There is not a hint in scripture for what you say. I will answer your request if you show me scripture on what you are saying or admit that you are wrong for adding to scripture about being overweight.

Speaking of drugs, give me the scripture where God calls using drugs a sin?

gal 5:20, rev 9:21
in galatians the word witchcraft (i use kjv) in the greek is pharmekia, and in rev 9;21 the word sorceries is also pharmekia

pharmekia as you can probably guess, means drug use

So, then its ok for me to be a witch, since the verse is really talking about drug users? pharmekia definitely does not refer to drug users, but to drug makers. This is where are word pharmicist comes from. Witches mixed various drugs and herbs to form concoctions which supposedly had magical properties.

saved,

I have repeated myself that it is not being overweight that is a sin. It is overeating. "Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be with overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares" (Lk.21:34). Surfeiting is the act of feeding to excess. It's hard to draw an exact line, but surely someone who is 100 pounds overweight, without a phsyical disorder to cuase them to be so, is feeding well in excess. Probably someone 50 pounds over. Maybe not someone who is just 10.

The fact is, Christians should be temperate in all they do. "That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience." (Titus 2:2). " Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand." (Phil 4:5). Overindulgence in any physical pleasure is sinful, whether food, alcohol, sex, sports, etc.

So, then its ok for me to be a witch, since the verse is really talking about drug users?

oh, c'mon now... you already know the answer to that. the bible gives plenty scripture dealing with witchcraft, divination and all that. here's one from acts.

Acts 8:11 (KJV)
And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

note the word sorceries...
mageia, Greek 3095, Strong's
mageia, mag-i'-ah; from Greek 3096 (mageuo); "magic" :- sorcery.

mageuo, Greek 3096, Strong's
mageuo, mag-yoo'-o; from Greek 3097 (magos); to practice magic :- use sorcery.

you specifically asked for verses condemning drug abuse and i gave it to you.

Sorry, I was edited that post as you posted. Here is strongs for pharmekia.

pharmakeia: from pharmakeus 5332; medication ("pharmacy"), i.e. (by extension) magic (literally or figuratively):--sorcery, witchcraft

pharmakeus: from pharmakon (a drug, i.e. spell-giving potion); a druggist ("pharmacist") or poisoner, i.e. (by extension) a magician:--sorcerer.

Drugs today are not the same as drugs back then. In those times, drugs were like a magic potion. As Strong's indicates, these were often concoctions of malicious intent, meant to poison.

Today, drugs are chemicals which we use to alter our bodies. If this verse is really speaking against those who use drugs, and not those who maliciously adminster magical potions, then all of us who use doctors, painkillers, coffee, or soda are living in a horrible state of sin.

Hopefully without sounding as judgeing others but my own standards, let me state that if I am not using my God given brain (as in Hosea 4:6) about obesity, then I am sinning! No one has to be 'brain dead' (:robot:) today to know that people ARE [killing themself]!!! Yes, all the while telling us that.. But Lord you NEVER TOLD ME ANYWHERE!!

And Strong's definning of the Hebrew Words? Lord, are these Ph. D ones not 'inspired'?

One might do a prayerful study of 1 Cor. 3:16-17 regardless of every content of its meaning, to see how the brain dead 'conscience wise' one does his killing & its SURE outcome?

Notice a message seen in Judges 3:20's last part through the first part of verse 22? (and verse 17?) No idea, huh? See verse 29's all 'lusty'. (Or fat in the margin)

And surely a Christian is to be more in subjection to the Master of the Universe than any 'earthly ruler'?? Check out Prov. 23:1-2.

NOW: True, there is a sin that one has more trouble with than others! Diet just might be one of these? (there is a sin that easly besets [us]) But to say that it is not sin to be stay fat without putting forth any effort is gospeless at best! :sad Notice 1 Cor. 9:27

Re: NO. NO. NO

If one could have serious discussion's about this to the point of God's Supreme Rule & Caesar 'conditional' responsibility? Then, one might take time to discuss it.

But, it is such a [documented] evil, that most professed Christians & nonchristians would want to pass a constitutional amendment for its stoppage. And this will once again set the last precedent to follow for abanding religous liberty. Yes, forced Sunday worship.

Let me be clear. No constitutional amendment is needed for church to have Caesar enforce laws that are on the books. If they would do so! But, it is not only Caesar that is caught up in this moral decay & sexual perversion. :crying:

See Rev. 17:5 for even a worse state of 'Spiritual' affairs! No?? Well then read what Christ Himself reports in verse 15 of Matt. 10 as Inspired Truth!

So what is the way out? Individual cross bearing! Phil. 4:13 & 2 Cor. 12:9.
And as seen first in Jer. 11-20 & finally Rev. 18:4. (for some only, huh?)

PS: But what will or will not 'deceive the very elect if it were possible'? Why is it not possible, is the bottom line question to answer? MOST ARE ALREADY DECEIVED![/quote]

********
What, no comment seen on this above one?? :sad
This posted remark is WELL BEFORE the Bush indorsement came to change the USA Constitution! WAKE UP GUYS & GALS & SHE/SHIMS, or whatever? The gay issue is a sidetrack of the devils real agenda!

The world is in its LAST progressive slide [towards] the seven last plagues. And as we see it escalate, 'we' Christians of USA will do anything to get out of the judgements of God, huh? Even force a Caesar Christian Sunday Sabbath Day! Surely that will put Christ back into a Christ/less church & stop His Fathers Judgements they all agree with even now, huh?! :robot: Get your Lord's Day Alliance Booklet ordered

---John

PS: Just in case there are any per/verted one's *desiring a change? It is not to late to have Christ CHANGE you. Your sin is no different than any other sin, in God's eye. (see James 2:8-12) And all it takes for Him to change anyone, is for a [complete surrender] to His will! (even the evil desires will be removed!)
