Didn't doubt that at all. The bible has loads of violent material in it. The rule itself says violent material falls under a banned category. This is about clarification and whatnot isn't it?
Yes, the Bible has some extreemly violent and sexually explicit material. The book of myrters does as well and we are ok with both. Really, we are talking about porn and Hollywood Gore.

How would you suggest we append the rule for clarity?

So actual images? Easy enough to just say "No posting images depicting scenes of gore."
If you mean something else then I don't know. The entire crucifixion scene is way more detailed in gore than most movies out even now.

It's just that 2.2 in its plain present state makes the lot of us look hypocritical. Someone who doesn't frequent here can pop in, read one of Bill or Jasons' stories, go read the ToS before signing up to talk, and see potential partiality. NOT by any means saying those stories need or should have any censor whatsoever.

And wondering , Truthfrees
Originally, I was kinda thinking the same thing as Bob...

Here is a big what if...

What if we eliminated section 2 entirely and leaned heavily on section 1 and our statement of faith?

I know... Kinda scary.... Can we ponder that?
thinking about the tos at only section and the sof

for the kind of members we want here it is a good idea

for those that want to attack others no amount of rules can fix them - building unity is not their goal -

so probably writing the tos for the kind of people who WANT to build unity is the way we should go

and dealing promptly with those who mistreat us and our goal is the best idea

how good and how pleasant it is when believers dwell in unity /love/ understanding / caring compassion / truth

there truly is a way to speak the truth in love - irl i do not associate with those who are unloving - it makes for a wonderful life

doing this here would make this a wonderful forum

there is one issue though - when people come in here posting strange things it does bother members -

what would be the method of dealing with people who do not attack via aggression but do attack the peace of the forum via crazy doctrines/posts? - would that method need to be outlined in the tos?

if onlookers see a bunch of strange stuff on the forum they will wonder what is going on?

Maybe section 2 could read something like this.

Do not make posts hostile to our statement of faith.

(Link to sof)
Maybe not "hostile to our statement of faith"...
How about "please respect the beliefs of this forum".

It already says this in the first pages....but everyone doesn't read everything so maybe it could be repeated in section 1.

The way I understand it, section 1 pretty much says it all, but something could be added.

What about just saying that heresies should not be encouraged? Or that only the bible and legitimate writings are acceptable for support?

And section 3 is even worse.
I mean GOD only needed 10 commandments!!

LOL
Most adults will know what is meant by explicit images.
Did you ever hear of that judge that said:
I can't explain what pornography is,,,
But I know it when I see it.

The word BEHAVIOR would need to be eliminated from Section 1.

Maybe we could add to section 1 ...
no. 2.4??

2.4 Promoting other faiths other than biblical and historical Christianity. This includes images, links, messages or photos, Ask the Atheist/Agnostic threads promoting non Christian faiths such as:
Agnosticism, atheism, dual seed or two-seedline doctrine, full preterism, serpent seed, universal reconciliation, universal salvation, J.W., Mormonism, and idealogies from the Book of Enoch and the Gospel of Thomas, etc. (alphabetical order for easy listing of
more if needed)

The list is too long to go through everything
Crucifixion
Parting of the Red Sea
Thumbs getting cut off
Gideon's family dishonourably executed
God's actual commands to slaughter
etc...
Oh, I see.
Well, it's one thing to see a news article that speaks about a murder and it's another thing to watch it on the screen, made up by some guy that wants to take advantage of violence to please some weird audience members who went to see a movie.

I think the difference is obvious.
A love scene could be beautiful and it could be gratuitous sex.

BIG DIFFERENCE!

:thumbsup

one question - why remove BEHAVIOR - i'm not understanding the reason to do that?
If we eliminate section 2 and section 3 that would only leave one section....so it would have to encompass everything; not only behavior. (not using certain books for support is not behavior,,,for instance).

Love your post Truthfrees. If all the things we don't want posted were to be listed tos would be pages and pages long. People know how they should behave. The vision of StoveBolts forum is one that shows the glory of God. We are to be an example as far as is humanly possible. If we love God and love our brothers and sisters, which I belueve we do, it will come through on the forum. We and guests should be able to feel the presence of God on the forum.
Matthew 18:20
"Where two or three are are gathered together in My name , I am there in the midst of them, "
How beautiful would that be, and would attract the right people.

We would still get the strange posts, the insulting posts etc. But doesn't that happen to us in real life, and isn't it to be expected?
With God with us who can be against us? We have to move forward in faith.
One way of dealing with undesirable posts could be for admin to delete the contents of the post and in it's place type "inappropriate post deleted" then pm the poster with the reason why.

StoveBolts wondering

if we go with only section 1 and the sof we might need to add a line that says something like:

if these points are agreeable to you we welcome you into our family

if these points are not agreeable please do not post here

we could actually give options of other christian forums to post at to make it easy for those who disagree with our tos to easily hook up somewhere else - like when the political forum was about to close and i posted a list of other christian political forums so people could find another home to post in

amen - i 200% agree -

as far as it happening irl - i suppose so - i used to put up with it with christian grace and charity - but i found i became a garbage magnet when i did that - i had no time for truly wonderful christians because the complainers/gossipers/thoughtless/selfish/unloving people would DEMAND all my time - and sooner or later they would turn on me anyway and tell terrible lies about me

so i learned why give these kind of people my time? - there are truly wonderful christians that need good fellowship - and i need their fellowship - and together we create an atmosphere that facilitates the love / grace/ peace / power of God

so now i have a rule for myself - if the person is NOT inspired by the love of God to be loving then i don't want to play - i say a warm hi how are you to them when i meet them but i no longer make time for them - i say hi i gotta go - God bless you - and they have learned from that to leave me alone

because you know all the years i let people dump their garbage on me it never changed them - they seem to NEVER get tired of garbage - in fact they seem to LOVE garbage - they seem to be garbage collectors - and then they want to come visit me and dump it all on me -

well no more - if they want to collect garbage instead of collect fun loving beautiful experiences with God then i shall leave them to it - and i will go enjoy myself in the presence of God with others who hunger and thirst for the presence of God as much as i do

What a post !
I still talk to them.
I feel maybe something will sink in.
The meanest persons and they speak of the love of God.
It's scary TTYTT.
I'm glad you posted this...I have to think this over.
Really late here...
Good night y'all.

yes - i did spend hours with demanding selfish critical people talking to them - helping them - etc - because they demanded i help them - their needs were always urgent - and i help them solve one issue and they immediately have another one - and they always DISLIKE others - they are the only good person in their opinion - and they never improve - i water and plant and do everything i can and NO fruit EVER

but now i spend hours only with loving people who need help - i find loving people are apologetic for even needing help - they are very respectful of my time - i spend hours with them and they ALWAYS grow in Christ - they are really good soil - and any seed of love truth kindness mercy prayer i plant in their life shows good results

so i have seen that if i invest my time into the lives of good loving people who NEED help they DO grow closer to God - because they are thankful and appreciative

complainers never seem to be thankful for anything from me or from God - they seem to be like a black hole - they swallow up everything you give them and DEMAND more - imo it is the lack of thankfulness respect love appreciation that is either a cause or effect of their perpetual eternal misery

so i still spend massive hours helping people - but am now selective in who i help
