OK. So does anyone here know anything about this new fad diet? Its supposed to be a biblical path to training the body to burn fat. We 're about to spend $50 on this to give it a try......wife watching the video sales pitch now.
 
Well we paid the $50 and downloaded the diet. My wife is going to add a couple of meals at a time until we fully transition over. It does include some targeted fasts. I'll update more as we go along. It comes with an intense/thorough shopping list for groceries.
 
I still believe that with any diet the bottom line is "calories in....calories out." If you put more fuel in than you are consuming (taking out) your body will store it for later use. As we get older, our metabolisms and our level of activities slow down and so our bodies don't consume as much as fast as when we were young and that adds to the problem because we still think we can put fuel in like we did when we were young so our bodies store it even more. We need to constantly adjust our intake to balance with our outgo. Exercise is a means to increase the outgo. What is really needed is a change in the way we think and a change of lifestyle.

All these diet programs do nothing more than feed on our desire for instant gratification and actually compound the problem because once we've achieved what we're after we figure we're done and go back to our old ways repeating the cycle, sometimes without realizing it. What we really need to do is work on personal discipline. Increasing exercise is a good way to help because the health benefits from exercise are added to the mix but again, that takes discipline and a change of lifestyle.

Diets cannot be maintained. I always see persons that have dieted gain all the weight back after a while.

The best diet is just to eat less or move more.

Many go to gyms because they find the motivation you're talking about. Difficult to get it at home...

There is actually more to it than calories in....calories out. I have witnessed this twice in my life now. 2 years ago I studied hard to find how a good diet would work and saw the truth to calories. There are actually good calories and bad ones. It seems logical that for every one you eat then you can burn that one. But some are "easier" to burn than others. Your body will store bad ones easier also.

I just finished with a diet that I did consistent for two weeks. The first week saw great gains(losses), the second week not so much. It was a very low diet(>1000) a day. What happened is my body noticed this loss in calories and adjusted my metabolism to fit them. I did not change what I did each day and exercised the same amount each week. But the second week my body switched over and stored more than it burned thinking I was going to starve myself maybe?

The best diet I ever did, and will be doing again now, is a whole foods diet. Anything that is natural is on the list. Yes you have to watch that you don't over eat, but at the same time you do not want to under eat. So yea calories do matter, but metabolism matters most. The reason exercise helps so much is because it raises your metabolism and keeps it going - if its the right kind at least.

There is really a lot to weight loss. And a real science to weight loss with no muscle loss - just fat. And an even greater science to weight loss with muscle gain.

Also, if you don't eat enough fats, the body thinks it's starving and will make its own fat. This is why some persons who eat very little fat have high cholesterol.

What is supposed to be done is that the food intake has to change. Also, you're not really supposed to diet but you're supposed to change your eating habits.

Another thing to keep in mind is DNA. Some of us are prone to stay thinner than others, no matter what we do. And some will gain more weight.

Goldie Hawn was once asked how she stays so thin, and she answered that is was all in her DNA. At least she was honest.
 
My body likes 180lbs. I'm supposed to be 145 according to my BMI. That's nuts. Ya gotta have some fat. I'd be happy with 160. I'm 3 months pregnant.

I would think I would be genetically geared to be thin. I was always sick as a child. I weighed a whole 129lbs when we got married but hit a high of 261lbs last year. Over double my weight. I dropped to 241 just before the holidays but picked up 10lbs over the holidays and keep yo-yoing between 240s-250. So we're gonna give this diet a whirl.
