I love sci=fi, and have recently read a really interesting fantasy series... I've written sci-fi, and would love to write some kind of fantasy too! :)

Not too much into fantasy (apart from Narnia and Harry Potter), and sci-fi is pretty awesome.

I don't see a problem with it at all. I'd like to see anyone's reasons for answering that Christians shouldn't write sci-fi or fantasy novels.

My problem is not with sci-fi or fantasy. My problem is with literature/entertainment that promotes an interest in sorcery, something the Bible tells us to stay away from.

so you don't like the following then star wars, the force aint no science thing, but a magic in a sense, the metaclorans were an add in later by lucas, who turned the books in to the movies, no disney movies at all then, no uther pendendragon, King arthur, or any such things, yes i see your point, but not all magic/fantasy is that way. I avoid getting too much into the occult, but i see nothing wrong with the person who has a creative imagination and wishes to express himself/herself so long as it doesnt glorify satan, some fantasy does.

I have a dispostion to this as i have played rpg and d&d

jojo, i thought that i was bad as i dont have a lot of interests, i do the folllowing bjj, lift weights, visit here, and i dont watch much tv, because the shows that are on aren't too interesting to me. I do like ncis,bones, but they are on too late and i catch them on reruns. I havent looked any of the upcoming sci-fi yet.

some christians are different and dont share the common interests like sports, or other typical things, that doesn't mean all those fantasy things and sci-fi are evil. I see your point, I gave up watching ghostbusters the cartoon and i loved that show, it can get too much into the occult at times

lol jason, I have interests! Although I'm not a fan of Star Wars (sorry Nick :nag ) or most sci-fi or fantasy films and books, I have other interests. As far as TV and movies go, I love many sitcoms, reality shows, love stories, documentaries, history, some cartoons (like King of the Hill) and I love the Food Network most of all. I'm actually more open-minded than you might think, though, and I'm no goody-goody. For instance, I enjoyed a couple of Quentin Tarantino films like Jackie Brown. I hate the violence, but I really dug Jackie Brown and her relationship with the bail bondsman. Anyway, all that is to say that I have varying interests and just because I'm not a sci-fi fan doesn't mean I am boring. lol (although my son might disagree) I just don't care for books or movies or TV shows that promote an interest in sorcery, magic, magick, whatever.

jojo then you agree that we are different, yes we have our quirks, i avoid most Quentin Terintino films, because all they do is glorify violence, I saw the movie Glorious Bastards as a kid , btw that's also a book.I recall some nudity in that, wonder if the new onw will have even more. King of the hill, yes i have watched that, not my thing, lol, that show started as a spinoff of beavis and buthead.

jason

it edits the actual movie name, huh the software should allow that one.

I'd like to write one. Heck I even started on a christian horror fiction dealing with vampirism. The main character wants to seek redemption from what he sees is a curse. Still needs some work.

I doubt I'd ever publish it. I'm still on chapter outlines. But I think you'll get to read the finished version:salute :thumb

WUT?

:mouthdrop :o :headbomb No Star Wars?! No King Arthur? No DISNEY?! :pray

I think writing about both is fine. Innocently exploring the possibilities of other races than ourselves (whether plausible or not) is fun and doesn't strike me as sinful. I could be wrong, though, so don't take my opinion for much value. ^^;
