Do you mean yell or do you mean rebuke? I don't think Jesus ever yelled at anyone, but I think his rebukes were sometimes harsh.

Matthew 18:1-512 Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’â€Â

Matthew 23: 13-2813 “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. 14 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.
15 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.
16 “Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obliged to perform it.’ 17 Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold? 18 And, ‘Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obliged to perform it.’ 19 Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift? 20 Therefore he who swears by the altar, swears by it and by all things on it. 21 He who swears by the temple, swears by it and by Him who dwells in it. 22 And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by Him who sits on it.
23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. 24 Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!
25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.
27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. 28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

I think He yelled in that temple, when he drove the venders out. God expect people to get upset sometimes, everybody on earth being a goody goody 2 shoes, is not being realistic. God did not make everyone the same. He makes some men actual warriors, and some men He does not. He does not expect everyone to get punched in the face, and then turn around and say I forgive you. Now if you are to that point in your walk then you can do that.

Right, how can you have the mentality to be a worrier, yet be able to talk in quiet soft tones.

If you feel like you are being convicted of speaking harshly then stop. If you are trying to find ammunition to stop someone from speaking harshly or because you are speaking harshly and want to prove it's okay... If the two latter reasons are true it would mean someone was being hurt by it, and there are plenty of verses, that show you should be kind, and gentle.

I Corinthians 13:4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up...

I will say to you what I have said to others. If you do not like a thread, do not respond to it. I can't always bend over backwards to make sure every last member is happy. If I am the one asking the questions, I am not required to answer myself. I allready know what I think, but I am interested in what others think. I may post my thoughts eventually, but for now, I am gonna sit back and read everyone elses. :)

To me the more interesting question is how do we know when to speak in harsh tones? I suspect Jesus yelled at people - most notably in the temple scene already discussed. But he was Jesus. He knew when only yelling would get someone's attention. I do not.

I don't think that means I shouldn't yell. But I do think it means I need to be careful choosing my moments. I don't have the insight that Jesus had. So for me personally, I think it's better to default to loving on people than using "tough love".

99% of the time I would say it is wrong. "A gentle answer turneth away much wrath". The Bible has many things to say about the the tongue and basically it reminds us to restrain our tongues, speak less, listen more, but when we do speak, speak with love, wisdom, and encouragement. Very rarely should be speak harshly, but as humans it`s much easier to justify harshness than to exercise control over our tongues and minds.

Should a Christian cop an attitude?

Should a Christian cop an attitude with people? What would Jesus have to say about this? Did Jesus ever cop an attitude?

Many including me think that Jesus said the turn the other cheek thing, with humor. Yes Jesus had a sense of humor too, because Jesus knows that most people are not going to turn the other cheek when slapped. Some people can, but many will try to defend themselves. Why ? Because God created you that way, God does not expect you to let someone stomp you into the ground, or stand there, while someone busts you in the head with a hammer. Come on now, let's be realistic. Or your wife is being raped, and all you say to the guy is, I will pray for you, and then you leave the room. And also sometimes you have to raise your voice at your kids, or they will run all over top of you. And also the book of Proverbs, tells you to beat your kids behind, when you have to. Now what do you think about that ?
