Oh my...I just realized the OP was serious. I thought it was a joke.

With suggestions like that he is indeed qualified to take public office. What a great lawmaker he would be.

Although I think this post made clear my previous position, I have removed it and I offer my sincerest apologies to all the people I was intentionally trying to make angry.

Wow, featherbop! You sure know how to insult people. Not very christlike of you, now is it? Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they aren't a Christian. I don't know anyone who would be so heartless as to agree with your notion that women who marry abusive men deserve to be beaten. You probably beat women so you talk like that to excuse your actions.

I, personally, am not an atheist but if I was and you were the only example of Christianity I had ever come into contact with, I would run away so fast from your faith it would make your head spin.

I just think it's sad that everyone can harp on these posts by him when he has since said this

I just had all these ideas about what I wasn't getting right. I don't know what triggered it, but its good, because I don't feel cynical now. I felt like I had the best idea of what a real person for a real marriage would be like, and that feels good.

I still don't really feel like I'd ever want to marry, but I'm not consumed in anger with the idea for now.

Let's celebrate the fact that he is on this journey ... and recognizes some changes that he wants to make in this area of his life....Let's lift one another up....not drag them down.

Wow, now these must be the new atheists. I think we're up to like 1000 atheists on these boards now. ugh.

Your Christian love is just oozing through the screen here...

People who are stupid intentionally deserve the bad effects of their stupidity. If a woman marries a man who beats her before the marriage, marries him then yes.

Some women have extremely low self-esteem. Whether that is the fault of society, parenting, bad genes, spiritual oppression, etc...it's really not important. The important thing is because of this low self-esteem, it may cause them to make some really bad choices in their lives.

If she isn't stupid intentionally, then no.

Are you referring to situations like I posted? Where the woman is completely deceived by the man into thinking he is something that he's not?

So you are saying that divorce is permissable....

I completely must have said things all wrong, but no matter, for I repaired the meaning to the correctness, negating most negative comments concerning me. The rest are wrong. Have a nice day atheists.

I see that what you mean by "repairing the meaning" you actually mean you simply deleted your OP. Interesting. Does that mean you take it back?

And why this animosity toward atheists? For the record, I know several of the posters in this thread, and I would be hard-pressed to find an atheist among them.

*Looks around*

Nope, don't see any atheists here. :biggrin I think you're confused. It's not ideology that makes people disagree with you, but rather the obscene ridiculousness of your statements. Like the following...

People who are stupid intentionally deserve the bad effects of their stupidity. If a woman marries a man who beats her before the marriage, marries him then yes.

While doing that may be ill-advised, no one deserves to be abused just because their spouse is a moron. There can be many reasons a woman would go ahead and marry an abusive fiance. In some cultures, it isn't even looked down upon; women raised in abusive households may not even recognize anything out of the ordinary; and love is the greatest blinder described by so many poets and writers. None of those means the lady "deserves it," which is a very disgusting thing to say. Basically, GROW UP.

Featherbop (or whatever)

I've accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. Could you please use your wonderful gift of discernment to tell me if I am truly a Christian or if I'm just playing church?

Oh, and you need to come out of that basement or wherever it is they have you locked up in and realize that some people marry abusers thinking that they deserve that kind of treatment because they were raised by an abusive parent that never supported them. The abuse seems normal to them and they are just happy to hear someone say that they love them.

Now, the question I'm left with is this:
If someone is stupid for knowingly marrying an abuser and gets what they deserve, what, exactly do you get from your particular brand of idiocy.

Forgive my attack if you are actually as young as you act. I don't like to be too rough on 12 year olds.

I don't know how to hammer this point any clearer. Its just like I also beleive that if someone intentionally jumps off a mountain knowing what will happen to them, they deserve the consequences. Sometimes, people are just asking for it.

But Featherbop, if that person who jumped off the cliff manages to grasp a rocky outcropping before tumbling to their death, would you give them your hand and pull them to safety?
Or would you say, "You asked for it, now suffer the consequences!" ?

Not atheists? Fine.

Leninjachic:I didn't delete anything, I simply explained in a more correct way, what I meant. I believe divorce is permissible, society and people allow it for anything and any problem.

Funny, when I went back to the OP, all that was there was a smilie face.

I also do not have animosity to atheists, just to the religion, which is harmful and evil, and illogical, and contains many errors, poor ideas, and fallacys, I'm sorry I mistook you for one.

Gosh, if this isn't animosity, I'd hate to see you when you're showing it...or when you're angry :shudders:

Apology accepted.

Yes, I would reach to them, they had a change of mind, and became sensible, they are asking for rescuing at that point, and that is what they deserve(if thats what they want.)

So it sounds to me like you are changing your tune on whether or not divorce should be outlawed? Or am I not understanding a new form of double-speak?

The smilie face is what I put there as the original post. That was it.

and I don't get angry. I have animosity towards noone.

My mistake then. I thought you had put commentary in the OP.

And I'm not angry. :Fade-color

I'm not talking out of two sides of my mouth. I just beleive that if the person wants something bad, they deserve it, if they want something good, they deserve it. I would like divorce outlawed to reduce the stupid peoples marriage decisions that end in divorce. Make the penalty high enough, and the problem will be solved.

That would just be one more free choice taken away from us. I like living here because it's the "land of the free!". Let people make their own choices. We've all made stupid choices in life, and most learn from them. I've learned from MANY mistakes in life.

Plus, in the end, it all comes down to one thing, and that's between the person and God.

It doesn't matter though....you've changed your tune a bit, so I feel like you're getting somewhere! I'm just hoping that someone soom comes along and you fall hopelessly in love! Oh, I can't wait for that day!!!!

I'm just hoping that someone soom comes along and you fall hopelessly in love!

Yes, because it seems Feathbop has such a great handle on what true love is all about.

Pay attention, he admits that he doesn't.

(who does though??)

Well if he realizes he has a problem and obviously has no concept of love and marriage, then perhaps he should refrain from posting such offensive, disgusting threads.

Um..."Not having a great handle on what true love is all about" and "obviously has no concept of love and marriage" are two completely different things. Dont' put words in my mouth or his.

If it's that offensive and disgusting, refrain from reading it. You've made your point, so move along.
