Sure we will still get junk calls, but I don't think it will be these same people who have been trying to get a hold of our personal information (that I don't want to disclose on the internet)for days several times a day in fact.

Let me guess. They're selling extended warranty on your car. Or, they're selling extended warranty on appliances and such in the home?

Yes, saw that. So why are you still complaining about a company that's calling you multiple times a day trying to get your personal information? How do you know that's what's happening multiple times a day if you don't pick up your phone? Because companies like that typically have a fake ID that shows on the caller ID.

Another thing you can do is call your phone service provider and tell them you're being harassed multiple times a day by one company. There's a code you can enter after that company calls you and that record logs at your phone providers end. Then they can pursue against them later. But you'd have to check with your provider to see what options they have in that regard.

Exactly my point. I don't give out any personal information anywhere especially over the internet.

I read a posting ages ago about this kind of telephone harassment. A guy said he had enough when the same company , a warranty rip, called him multiple times a day for two weeks.
I copied the particulars in the event they call me.
He said he telephoned the FTC and the woman that answered knew the company well. They'd been calling her parents for 10 years! Every single day.
That's nuts.
So after that call that led nowhere, he said he decided to see if he could scare the company so they'd stop calling.
Sure enough they telephoned moments after he hung up from the FTC.
This was brilliant! Off the cuff he answered the phone, hit the prompt to talk to a real person, and told them this. I copied it.
Hello, my name is ____________________ (fake name) , you're telephoning me at , and he gave the real time. I'm hereby informing you that this call is being monitored by my phone service provider. As well as is being recorded by myself. At the conclusion of this telephone transmission, I will report your telephone number, which did appear on caller ID, as: And he gave the phone number, to the FTC, the FBI, the NSA, as a suspect Al-Qaeda front!

They never called again. He posted about this five years after and had peace and quiet ever since. :lol

Because they leave messages on the answering machine and I still think that it's really annoying that they're calling so many times a day and I have to hear the phone keep ringing.
 
You can buy an answering machine with a mute button that turns off the ringer. It will still record the messages for you to listen to later. Check your machine for a mute button. If it has one, press it.

That's a really good idea, but it still takes up space on the answering machine.

The people who call you to say that you're being arrested like the recent phone scam, (police never hand out warrants over the phone) or say that you won a free vacation, or the fake viruses that pop up all over the internet. The sad and unfortunate fact is that and according to my mother, none of this is and cording tally considered illegal and for the life of me I can't figure out why. If somebody lies about having cancer and uses the money that they have collected to go on a Disney vacation, then that person will definitely find themselves in the back of a policecar. So what's the difference? In both cases it's considered to be dishonest and fraud and taking advantage of people and their money.

No. More scammers means more quality memes on YouTube. I like to see scammers getting scammed for entertainment. I love watching the Indian tech support scammers lose their crap when they steal someone's "payment info" to find its a virus.
 
I know I'm late to this party but I sure do enjoy acting like an idiot and keeping those guys from Pakistan on the phone running up their bill. :yes
