It is written in the words of Jesus, 'But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you'. (Mathew 5:44)

Does that mean we should pray for the devil too?

Friend, that is not in the context of what Jesus' teachings and would make us fools.

I would think it more benefficient to pray for the Christian that does not follow those words.
God has a relationship with the Devil. We learned that in the book of Job. The Devil is part of God's plan too. God is sovereign. The Devil's fate is known to them both, God and the Devil.
Pray for yourself that you be armored against the Devil. Being he is the adversary of all things righteous he would never appreciate your prayers. They would only be serving to ask God to change his mind about what he has already set into motion for that one that was his first and most intelligent and beautiful angel in the beginning.

Pride goes before a fall and this is what lead Satan to be who he is. He has sealed his own fate and dwells in a demonic realm that separates him from God. God has already shown Satan's final destination being the lake of fire and God will not go against that which He has already said. From Genesis to Rev we have always had an adversary that seeks to destroy those of faith as this is his rebellion against God seeking who he can devour. IMO I really do not think Satan has the ability to repent as the evil is to overpowering within him.

pardon my bluntness but what kind of question is that ?

Are they really separate? Satan conferred with God before inflicting the trials upon Job.

Separate as having no fellowship with God, but still has access to God like in Job 1:6. Satan hasn't been completely kicked out of heaven yet as that will happen after the seventh trumpet is sounded, Rev 12:7-17.

No... The devil is destined to be cast into the eternal Lake of Fire according to scriptures .. So we could all pray for the devil and and it would be to no use.. He is doomed..

The verses you quote are i believe teaching us to pray for our human enemies..

good question

no - the devil knew God - how powerful and wise He was - and he chose to rebel against God - he was perfect as well as fully informed and fully experienced - so there is no hope for him - Hebrews 6:4 - Hebrews 10:26 - Ezekiel 28:15 - i know 2 of these scriptures are about humans - but it shows you about wilful sin and how it is different from human ignorance - lucifer and the rebelling angels knew the truth about God and chose to rebel

unlike humans who were created with limited knowledge and intelligence - we are like children who are learning - we need prayer because we have much to learn - 1 Corinthians 13:9-12

God Bless you my dear friend

The Devil and his demons are lost forever and forever our enemy. He has lost sight, no, God has removed sight .. His existence is void of God no redemption what so ever .. No we do not pray for the devil, all business, we cast him out in Jesus name is the most we have to do with him .. The enemies we pray for is for building our character in love for those who have still have hope and their salvation
Jude 1:9

I am on this forum to learn, my friend and to understand the Bible better.

My God bless you.

hello The Truth, dirtfarmer here

I see that you joined the forum in April 2017. So, you are fairly new to the forums. If you are a new believer or have only been studying scripture for a short time, then welcome to the family of God.

In Hebrews 2:9 it is stated, " But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man." Angels don't die, they are spiritual beings and are eternal. Some will spend eternity in the lake of fire because God didn't offer those that sinned a plan of salvation.

We should pray for each other as we are told to do. We should guard against Satan as he is our enemy and seeks our destruction. His fate is sealed and one day he will cease being an enemy as God will do with him as Satan deserves.

He's not our enemy in the sense that the Bible tells us to pray for our enemies. I would never pray for Satan as we are not directed to do that. I would (and do) pray for my family, friends, church, community, and for those that hate Christians (they are out there and are the enemies of God and therefore our enemies as well) - those we are directed to pray for. But Satan? No.

Papa Zoom has said well and he said it well, Satan goes to the Lake of fire because he is the Eternal Evil Being.

A thought worthy of consideration will be the Nave's Topical Bible. When I converted mu hard copy cost me 25 Dollars but it is available for free on your computer. If you are a new believer or have only been studying scripture for a short time

Hi dirtfarmer,

I have been a believer for over 20 years and have been studying scriptures on and off over several years. I have never been encouraged to read or study the Bible when I was younger and because of this, it did not give me a good stead later in life with sound ground knowledge or understanding of God's word for when I got persecuted for my faith later in life. If I misinterpret the scriptures, then God will violate my interpretation of it, so it is important for me, as well as other believers, to fully understand the meaning of the verses from the Lord.

Have a blessed day.

hello The Truth, dirtfarmer here

There is no one on these forums that hasn't misinterpreted scripture at one time or another. Remember this, scripture interprets scripture. The meaning of that is, if you find one scripture that contradicts another scripture, first find out to whom the scripture was written, to the Jew, or the gentile, or the church.
2 Timothy 2:15 states, " Study to show thy self approved unto God, a workman that ineedeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
There will be those that will quote 2 Timothy 3:16," All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: But they fail to quote verse 17, " That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." This verse in my belief refers back to 2 Timothy 2:15.

Can we take the old testament sacrifice and make them doctrine for the church? Those sacrifices were for restoration of fellowship given to Israel, not the church.

This is just one example of rightly dividing the word of truth. Continue to study and rely on the guidance of the Spirit.
