Actually, that could never happen since I believe headquarters to be in Panama City, Panama.
I got the gator on my phone...but on my PC I seem to be getting in now.
Eora i believe is was down for maybe 30 minutes or more
Thanks guys. I'll have to look at the error logs tonight.
gzip compression is now enabled. It won't fix our php and database problems, but pages will load quicker.

Was out for 5 minutes
around an hour of so slow and dropping posts.. around 7-8 this morning pacific time
Site was not accessible (after working fine a few minutes before) I THINK aroujnd 7:08 pm eastern time.
At of this post, it is just so slow - a few minutes ago, I loggged onto CE&P with no issue, but could not look at any thread or look in the Lounge (only two things I tried) and just closed the browser.
i think I've found something that will cure this nonsense, picked it up at Firefox forums.
Basically its a compatibility issue, as we make adjustments to our machines, or a server changes their settings, things become incompatible. This is what I've been trying for a couple of days and it seems to be working.. Our browsers have a shortcut icon in the tool tray, right click on that icon, it will bring up the properties window, in that window you'll see "Compatibility" click on it and you will, see "run this program in compatibility mode" in the drop down you'll see a list of operating systems, pick one click apply and check to see if it works, if not, repeat this action only pick another OS. You'll need to rearrange your extensions accordingly.
Here's something else you might want to try, its called Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer.. Over time your computer collects temp files that don't really get deleted with some cleaners, this one will find the ones the others missed..
Why make a big deal about it.
Just erase them
I hope this issue with the site hasn't been swept under the rug and forgotten. I haven't been posting times and problems here because it seemed you have enough to know what was going on. But the truth is it's still just as bad as ever. And it's not a Firefox issue because it behaves the same on every browser I've used and is the same on multiple ISPs in multiple locations. In fact it's become close to 100% of the times I log in I have problems now. Not always right away, but when I do get logged in and it's working fine at first, within a few minutes the problems come back and it becomes unusable.
Over the holidays I referred a co-worker here. He told me he came on several times (I assume as a guest because he never mentioned registering) but just had too many problems with the site freezing up all the time and told me it was just too frustrating and wasn't worth it. That was just plain embarrassing.
I don't know if anything is still being done to fix this or not, but I sure hope it gets taken care of soon. It even affects moderation as it's not good to get kicked off the site in the middle of moderating something. It's a far bigger worry, and a far bigger influence on my decision whether or not to deal with a problem in a thread than any other factors. Last night at work I tried several times to review a thread that I thought might need to be moved, and through the whole night I couldn't do it. (I work all night but have lots of free time for things like this.) This morning an admin finally got it done.
I haven't forgotten.
Over the Christmas break my real life has demanded a lot more attention.
There's not a lot more I can do at the moment. It's up to Greg to move to the new server and he's being quiet at the moment. I'll ask him about it.
There might be something I can do about page speed, but there is a deeper issue at play here.
I have times everyday that it moves slow.
Brother Eora, The following notification of alerts at the right top below shows Netchaplain starting the same thread "Liberating Faith" twice, and he only started one, and it is at 1:43 PM. On the alerts the second false one shows to be at 2:06 PM.
When I expanded that list to Show All (alerts) it shows a list of several other members showing a double post which isn't there with separate times also.
I reckon what I'm wondering is if there is a glitch in that programming causing it to lock into some sort of repeating that takes extra time away from the speed of the forums.

Well, so far I've clean out the cache deleted all cookies "including the flash cookies" and its still running sloooooooooooooooooww it has to be a conspiracy, isn't that right reba..
Maybe it works better in Linux?
Nope.. its its its not not not any any any better better better in in in Linux Linux Linux..
Whatever is going on now I'm even getting PMs from members asking me what's wrong and why it's not fixed yet. This is embarrassing and frustrating, and I'm finding it impossible to make excuses for Greg's seeming lack of concern and action on this huge problem. Perhaps his goal is to simply let the site die so he can concentrate on bigger things?
