I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. Romans 7:25

A never ending battle between the spirit and the flesh. Whenever I read that chapter Paul's frustration and pain seem to jump out at me.
Praise the Lord the day will come when we no longer need to battle against this filthy flesh and be with Him in paradise. Romans Chapter 8.
i used to think like this too when i thought of God's commands as a heavy impossible burden connected to punishment if not observed

now that i have the jewish understanding of mitzvot i have fun keeping mitzvot

the hebrew word is mitzvot - good deeds - and all good deeds come with rewards - from Genesis to Revelation

so now rather than thinking of mitzvot as commands that must be obeyed or else i get punished - i think of them as good deeds that come with rewards - so it's kinda like collecting rewards here and eternally for every time i joyfully complete/perform mitzvot

jews thank God for the privilege of keeping mitzvot because they see them as a chance to collect more blessings - and as a result jews do have a lot of blessing in their lives

Joshua 1:8

John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

ugh. thinking on this today. it dawned on me...think less, pray more. :)

so, i prayed. the commandments I'm currently focusing on are forgiving 70x7 and loving my neighbor as myself and loving the Lord God with everything I"ve got. along the way...

I've come to see what I believe to be blessings in my life, not because I'm the most amazing Christian, but because the Pentecostals did me a huge favor by teaching me to take Scripture (especially when Jesus is talking) seriously and to really -believe- in a supernatural, omnipotent God, not...the God of Self-help, the God of more stuff, etc.

so there you go. :)
