Gosh Chopper,
I never thought when I joined here that I'd have to be so careful with words.
We're sinners in the sense that we sin. One could say we're sinners and not be wrong.
We're NOT sinners in the sense that our NATURE is not the nature of a sinner since we have accepted the Holy Spirit into our lives, our very nature has changed.
BUT, what nature do we now have if we still sin?
You see. It depends on how much theology you know, it depends on how you understand the sin nature to be.
For instance, I don't think Smaller is saying that we can't have victory over sin. I think he's saying that no matter how much victory we have, we're still sinners in our nature - as he understands nature to be.

God breathed his breath into Adam, and Adam was in the image of God, but he didn't get God's nature.
Nature is a very specific thing and I see that Jethro likes this subject and it's an important subject. But the wording can throw us off...

Just a thought.

Wondering
Highlighted my me,,,, I too wish we all didn't have to be so careful with our words.. I am not a good writer i REALLY wish i could type with my heart Being here a few years now and other forums before this one.. .. all we have are our words.. words on a cold screen... emotioncons help some ... I am saying what we all know .. it takes much longer to 'get to know' some one without seeing the body language.. Many of us respond to post not only for the one wea re replying to bit any guest who might be reading.. ..

I hope you are willing to overlook that silly necessity of " careful wording ',, because you are a good strong blessing to this place. :sohappy

You are showing your true colors here Chopper.
If you mean his fourth type of soil colors (Matthew 13:23 NASB) then I wholeheartedly agree!

It's hard for a person who's spent a lifetime learning to over come sin in the flesh tell the church we are all still 'sinners'. It just ain't so. Sometimes I wonder why so many Christians can't tell the difference between the old mind set on the thing of the flesh that they had and the mind set on the Spirit they received when they received Christ.

I do prefer to give the church the benefit of the doubt and think they just aren't being educated about the matter rather than think they aren't saved to begin with, but I admit I wonder sometimes too. My old mind and my new mind has been for me the difference between night and day. That doesn't mean I don't struggle with sin as some seem to think that has to mean. It means I'm just flat out different inside! I'm simply not the 'sinner' I was before Jesus came into my heart by the Holy Spirit!

No, I didn't mean that at all.
Here's someone who claims to be a pastor/teacher/preacher and does mostly all his threads on the Bible study forum.
Yet he showed his Christianity by insulting this woman who is still relatively new to the forum.
He embarrassed her, he showed her disrespect.
Yet he claims to be some sort of leader in the Christian church.
And YOU agree with him.
I suppose you're a 100% Calvinist as well?
Then the insults to wondering come from you as well.

Sounds like you two need to get saved, not wondering.

My my Rollo ..
He meant no insult to Wondering who i agree is a one really cool christian lady!
Have you not insulted Chopper? Have you shown him disrespect?
The good ol double standard..

Being insulting disrespectful and discrediting others relationship with Christ is not Christian unless i am doing it...
