YES and NO
This scripture is in CONTEXT is in reference to using FIRE to WORK on God's Sabbath which required WORK. If it is in relation to keeping warm from the cold and all the preparation is completed BEFORE God's Sabbath and the fire is started the wood cut and no work is needed of course it is ok to have a fire going on the Sabbath because it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath which is made for man not man for the Sabbath.

We are also not under the CIVIL LAWS of Israel and are in the NEW Covenant and do not put people to death for breaking any of God's Commandments. Including most of the other of God's 10 commandments were the same death penalty was required (Not just the 4th Commandment) under the CIVIL law of Israel.

YES we follow the scriptures but not your interpretation of the scripture posted underneath the scripture.
We follow God's Commandment by Faith through LOVE because we BELIEVE and FOLLOW Him who calls us. Jesus taught it is lawful to do Good on God's Sabbath. It is not lawful to follow man made traditions that make the Sabbath a burden and make man for the Sabbath. The Sabbath was made for man not man for the Sabbath.

In times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men every where to REPENT for the KINGDOM of HEAVEN is at HAND (Acts 17:30-31)

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.

Hope this help...

Can you show us New Testament scriptures that instruct us specifically how to observe the Sabbath under the New Covenant?

Yes you must keep in mind however that you cannot separate the Old Testament scriptures from the New Testament Scriptures the NEW does not do away with the Old these are the two witnesses. Everything from the NEW Testament comes from the OLD Testament scriptures.

God's Sabbath is the 4 th Commandments given to us in Exodus 20:8-11 and is laid out there. The New Testament builds on this and Jesus came to teach us that Man was not made for the Sabbath but the Sabbath was made for mankind; Jesus us the maker of the Sabbath and that is it lawful to do Good on the Sabbath.

This was because man had put so many rules and restrictions on the Sabbath that it had become a burden to the people instead of a delight. We follow Jesus because we love him not because it is a requirement for salvation. However it is one of the 10 Commandments and as God's Word says, if you break any of them we commit SIN and need to seek God in repentance and forgiveness.

Yes. We separate the commandments that were added until the Seed should come which is the law of Moses.

These commandments that were contained in ordinances were abolished.

having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, Ephesians 2:15

The Church under the New Testament no longer puts to death those who violate the Sabbath.

Paul says it this way.

So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Colossians 2:16-17

The Sabbaths under the law were merely shadows of the reality they pointed to which was Christ.

Now under the New Covenant which pertains to those in Christ, we are led by the Spirit having Christ Himself dwelling in our hearts directing us and teaching us how to conduct our lives in His kingdom.

This is why Paul teaches us these truths:

One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike.Let each be fully convinced in his own mind.
Romans 14:5

Do you believe God’s people should be physically circumcised?

those who do keep the Sabbath already know the benefits

those who don't want to keep Sabbath will never know the benefits

keeping Sabbath was given even before the law was given:
1. Genesis 2:1-2
2. Exodus 16:26-30
3. Exodus 20:10-11
4. Exodus 23:12

i can testify that when i started keeping sabbath there was a noticeable increase of blessing and peace in my life

it was surprising to me

i talked to others who started keeping sabbath and they had the same experience

i started following the food instructions and same result

if a person believes there is no benefit to doing this they won't even try - and they will never know what sabbath keepers know experientially

but i don't recommend keeping sabbath with the wrong attitude because that would make it a waste of time and effort

if a person knows God wants them to keep sabbath God will also show them ways to easily keep it and enjoy it

Curious about keeping one law, wouldn't you feel led to keep more?
Also would works for blessing come into play.
I'm trying to get a handle here, if it works now would it not work without a cross.
I understand man doing for God, works and so forth, I seem to be looking in a different way, such as the ministry of helps and so on.
Not me doing anything in and of myself for any gain.
What I mean by that is can we trust our Father fully if we were never to do anything?
And would say I have been blessed by not keeping the law of the Sabbath.

If you believe in keeping the Sabbath because it’s a sin not to, then you are doing it to be justified (being right with God; righteous).

Same with eating pork or shrimp.

Amen.

I understand your position of the Sabbath, better now that you have explained some things to me.

You will be much better received by them in your witnessing if your are observing the Sabbath as you are doing.

God bless you guys and your efforts and prayers for that community.

:salute

thanks so much

there is always a danger of works mentality - self-righteousness - earning blessings - etc - but this is a christian construct - a misunderstanding of what Tanakh was about

jews keep Torah because they are in covenant with God - not to earn salvation

so christians also can do the same - i follow God's instructions because they are wise and i love His instructions - the by-product - which i knew nothing about in advance was that every time i follow God's instructions blessings happen to me - wow - wise and blessed - wow

so what was the cross about? - there can be no salvation apart from God working it through Jesus! - hallelujah!

so if anyone thinks they can be saved by works they are mistaken

all of scripture points to God's salvation through His messiah

but scripture also gives us God's wisdom for a better quality life

if you can follow God's instructions - like an owner's manual - you will get better results

if you follow God's instructions to be loved and saved you will get frustrated - because when you break one law you've broken them all - so you can never be saved by keeping laws

here is a good layout of the various types of instructions God gave - there are some that won't apply to you - but there are some that may be a very interesting inclusion in your life: https://www.gospeloutreach.net/613laws.html

if none of them appeal to you then no problem

some of them appeal to me and i love the results of keeping them

i was blessed before i started following any instructions of God - simply because of Christ

i became more blessed when i started to keep shabbat

my body has been more blessed when i started keeping the food instructions

i am very interested in following more instructions - so i wait for God to show me the next ones - just as He showed me the shabbat and the food instructions - He is the author and perfecter of my faith - so i wait for God to lead me into more growth and blessing

if a person is NOT excited to follow the ot instructions then don't go anywhere near them - stay with what blesses you

God Bless you my friend

Gen 2:1-2 doesn't really "give" anything. It is a report that God quit creating at the end of the 6th day and did not create anything on the 7th day. God does not require any rest like we do.
The Exodus references are all part of the law of Moses so they cannot have come before the Law of Moses.

right?
amen - so true - that is why Jesus said shabbat is MADE/CREATED for man not man for shabbat

shabbat was never for God because He needs no rest - right from Genesis shabbat was for man

it's we who need rest in and with God

we can rest and we can recharge

resting in and with God on shabbat is an excellent way to recharge

God Bless you my friend

Again can you show me New Testament scriptures that direct us as to how to observe the Sabbath under the new covenant? JLB

Absolutley, plenty of scirpture.......

You must keep in mind however that you cannot separate the Old Testament scriptures from the New Testament Scriptures the NEW does not do away with the Old these are the two witnesses.

What did Jesus and the Apostles teach about the Sabbath in the New Testament building off the Old Testament scriptures..

1. It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56)
2. Jesus made the Sabbath for all mankind (Hebrews 1:2; John 1:1-3; 14; Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:16-17; Mark 2:27)
3. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28)
4. If you do not believe and follow God you cannot enter His Sabbath rest (Hebrews 4)
5. It is one of God’s 10 commandments we break it we are guilty or breaking all (James 2:8-12)
6. Breaking it is sin (1 John 3:4)
7. God’s true followers keep it Holy as God commanded (Rev 14:12; Rev 22:14; Eze 20:20)
8. Jesus is our example and he kept the Sabbath (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56; John 2:6; Matt 16:24;)
9. The Apostle kept the Sabbath (Acts 13:14; 13:27; 13:44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4; Rev 1:10)

We are not saved by keeping any of God's Commandments but ONLY by GRACE through FAITH and not of ourselves it is a GIFT of God and not of WORKS lest any man should boast. However if our FAITH does not have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE to God's WORD then we are still in our SINS and do not KNOW him who calls us to walk with him in LOVE because LOVE is the fulfilling of God's LAW in those who WALK in His Spirit (Romans 8:1-4; 13:8-10)

Yes. We separate the commandments that were added until the Seed should come which is the law of Moses.

What are you saying yes to? Sorry I do not understand your statement above. The purpose of God's Law (10 Commandments) from what I see in the scriptures, is to give us a KNOWLEDGE of SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS (Romans 3:20; 7:7; James 2:11; 1 John 3:4). If you have no KNOWLEDGE of SIN you have NO NEED of a SAVIOUR. IF you have NO NEED of s SAVIOUR you have NO SALVATION. IF you have NO SALVATION you are lost and still in your SINS and do not KNOW him who calls you (1 John 2:3-4) because SIN is the transgression of God's LAW (10 Commandments) and those who KNOWINGLY practice SIN will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEn because they have rejected the GIFT of God's dear son (Romans 6:23; Hebrew 10:26-27).

God's LAW (10 Commandments) are the schoolmaster to show us who we really are. SINNERS in need of a Saviour. If you have lost or broken your mirror how can you see who you are or know him who calls you? Jesus says; They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Many do not know the meaning because their mirror is broken or lost.

Yes, just the same as we are no longer killed for committing Adultery most of the other 10 Commandments. We are not under the CIVIL laws of Israel and are in the NEW Covenant.

A shadow is something that is to come and is a part of an UNFINISHED WORK in relation to the plan of Salvation. How can God's Sabbath be a Shadow when it is part of a FINISHED Work and was given to mankind BEFORE SIN entered the World and before a plan of Salvation was developed? Scriptures please..

Genesis 2
1,
Thus the heavens and the earth WERE FINISHED, and all the host of them.
2, And on the SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made.

None of those verses tell us how to observe the Sabbath.

Throwing a wall of scripture up does NOT support your contention that Christians are required to keep the Sabbath.

You have repeatedly declined to respond by providing clear, specific, instruction from the NEW TESTAMENT that Gentile Christians are required to keep the Sabbath.

If you are going to respond, then please respond to the question asked rather than throw a multitude of scripture at the person who asked the question. You are showing us nothing but your inability to demonstrate from scripture that Gentile Christians are required to keep the Sabbath.

Well that is not true whatsoever and only disregards all of the OLD and NEW testament scriptures which does indeed disagree with your interpretaion of them. If you do not KNOW what SIN is how will you KNOW who the Saviour is? Only those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's Word are his people. Breaking any of God's 10 Commandments is indeed SIN and those who practice KNOWN SIN do not KNOW him and will NOT see God's KINGDOM unless they are BORN again.

Please tell us, if somone who is professing to be a BELIEVER living a life of KNOWN SIN who is breaking any of God's 10 Commandments, in a SAVED state before God or an unsaved state before God?

If you do not know what SIN is how will you know the Savior?

Ok example; it's kind of like the funeral preacher who says in his sermon " their in a better place now."
Absolute error on their part, I know it sounds good, but there is no better place than in christ for the believer.
For the non believer it's a lie, but my point is if I'm reading you right, your saying that Christ may not enough and their is more for the believer if they will accept it.
For those that are comfortable in their understanding fine, but look at this blessing "if you," do this, pardon my bluntness but doesn't that seem like pure law. I'm not talking about for your salvation, but a form such as groups that believer must do a certain thing for salvation.
In this case some form of the law to further the Christian experience.
If I could I would also like to point out a certain percentage of those reading you have already been through most of the claims being made.
With that said your zeal is to be applauded.

None of these references teach us how to keep the Sabbath under the New Covenant. Can you show me New Testament scriptures that direct us as to how to observe the Sabbath under the new covenant? JLB

Sorry friend we may need to agree to disagree on your interpretation of the scriptures :)

You cannot disregard the OLD Testament scriptures that are the foundation of the NEW Testament. The NEW Testament is built on the Old Testament and together they are the Word of God. Do you disagree?

The scriptures shown earlier from the NEW Testament in regards to God's Sabbath, build on the OLD Testament Scriptures (Exodus 20:8-11) with Jesus teaching us that;

God's Sabbath was made for Mandkind and he is the LORD and the God of CREATION (Mark 2:27-28). He also teaches us that it is indeed lawful to do GOOD on the Sabbath (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56) and we are not to be budened by man made teaching around God's Sabbath because the Sabbath was made for mankind to be a delight not a buden.

Jesus is our example who kept the Sabbath as well as all those who followed him (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56; John 2:6; Matt 16:24; Acts 13:14; 13:27; 13:44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4; Rev 1:10)

God's Sabbath is the Lord's Day and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW him who calls us.

.................

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Sorry friend we may need to agree to disagree on your interpretation of the scriptures :)

What interpretation?

I’m asking you, the “expert” on the Sabbath to provide scripture that teaches us how to observe the Sabbath under the New Covenant.

You just keep referring to the Old Testament law, that requires death to the violators.
