I did a good bit of research instead of sleeping last night and I read where Reba believes the most prominent lie about computers Micro Soft ever sold to the unknowing. You see, in the last Windoze 10 string Reba alluded to the very common, very profitable lie any industry ever sold to the world.

Reba, like all Windoze users believes computers are built to fail. While nothing in this imperfect world will last forever the reason MicroSoft's Operating Systems and not the computer at all fails is because when Bill Gates left Apple and Steve Jobs the DOS (Disk Operating system) that had been developing for the shared use of Apple, Linux and Unix Operating Systems. It was the best system that had ever been developed. Bill and his bandit partners, in the course of time rewrote enough of DR DOS enough to get it patented and in doing so they, somewhere along the line to the development of the Windoze systems they added a sure fire growing failure into their OS, the Registry.

A number of people, over the years worked to create a good Registry Cleaner and the creators of RegscrubXP did and before, for what ever reason, dropping the free software they wrote it to work on Vista also and they just disappeared, it seems. There are a number of products for sale but, as a rule, they are not General User friendly and folks avoid them like the Black Plague that is the reason humans working without tiring to eradicate Rats and Mice.

There is a solution that comes, the last I read the newsletter there were over 1100 Linux distributions and a few of them have a modest cost but if a person knows how to burn an image file to a CD or a DVD they can download one of the systems. If not, I just looked on DistroWatch.com or OSDisk.com and a Copy of Linux Mint can be purchased for $5.95 and I strongly recommend you select the version 17.3, Cinnamon (64bit) except you are running a computer older than fifteen years old and if you are, select the same except at the end of it's name you want the (32bit) version.

First the skinny; There will be one decision you will need to make except you accept the default. This is a more windows like version of the very windows like Ubuntu that I run and they seem to forever use the Ubuntu installer so it is very simple to select dual boot if you fear losing Windoze completely. Going with a dual boot system, boot either windoze or Mint, the Installer will automatically divide the available space for both systems and then you answer six questions and for about ten minutes watch as it completes the install and reboots.

You will not need to run an antivirus and there is no registry to become corrupted and cause you to believe your computer has failed. It is possible to download Wine or better yet to pay 60 dollars for Crossover and thus run your favorite windoze software and games.

If yoou need advise, I have not died yet and I'm free!

I use Ubuntu for about a year and it is great, I found only two problems with it. I have tried to resolve both and just have not been able. several people give their way of solving but the instructions only work for certain setup. I would not go back to windows though.

What are your issues, I might not know either but TimFromPA, Eaora, I and several others are long time nerds and have you asked at the Ubuntu Forums and at the Ubuntu Strings at the LinuxQuestions Forums? When I get hung up that is where I go. Often, when I do not know I go to those two Techi Sites for the answer.

I was very faithful to do my "Required Upkeep" on windoze but It still required a very good use of a great Back Up Program such as Norton Ghost and every Saturday softwear maintenance to keep windoze running

I dont have a clue as to what you said beyond

Not understanding or grasping the computer jargon it is over my head..
I can cook with kitchen jargon... some of this.. a bit of that.. a low heat .. or fast oven.. Having in my head the idea that a teaspoon of salt can easily be a lot, yet a cup of sugar may not be much at all.. opps out of milk what can i substitute ....
it does not transfer to computers..
I can do the mechanics of a computer simple R&R click out the components and replace BUT i dont know which or why...

Yes I have been all over Ubuntu forums and the I did not need to ask both were already ask and each had several answers.
I tried several none worked for me. One is I want to down load videos from you tube to my computer so I can watch with out connecting to Internet. Two is the screen freezes kills mouse and keyboard goes dark. the ctrl alt delete does nothing,
the ctrl alt F2 does nothing; I have to unplug elec and reboot and some time it comes right back with in minutes and some time it may not come back for hours. Ive read it has something to do with unity or nvidia I did sudo update-pciids did not help. I did not want to reinstall desktop cause no one explained if I would loose anything or not and dont want to loose what I have so did not try that.

The synopsis of what i said is none of your computers were likely to be dead except nothing appeared on the screen. Microsoft makes their software to fail. A reinstall revives it to new condition. Install any Linux, BSD or Unix Operating System and you have a brand new computer that does not need maintenance every Saturday Morning to remain usable. That's all I said.

Over the years I have picked up computers set on the curb for trash and recovered business' old computers, run the free program the NSA, every other government agency and every IT uses to wipe the harddrives with, DNB, a.k.a. Derick's Boot and Nuke, reload them with Ubuntu or Mint and give them to kids and the lap tops to college kids.

For the videos, assuming you use Firefox, click the far right top icon and select apps. Then type in the search slot on the page, not next to the address bar, type youtube unlocker or youtube download. The unlocker allows the download of all. I solved the issue unity has by installing Gnome. It came with four versions so you will like to play with them to see which you like best.

If you use your password to log in, on the login mini-window, at the top right is an icon, the ubuntu icon. Click it and choose one of the new desk tops, then login. If you chose not to login on start then click the top right task bar as if shutting down and instead log out. When the login screen appears follow the above to stop using unity. it worked for me.

now i understand.. thanks..

which I would like to ask I do not use google at all and I see some security updates marked " chromium B "
I do not let them update because I think it has t do with google chromium. I uninstalled all gogle on my computer.
Please do not feel obligated to look at all those site I posted but I gave them to let you see I have tried several things
and nothing seems to work. I have an icon I can click on while watching videos and it opens file to save in "videos"but it only blincks my download button
it does not actually download and if I look at downloads it shows the name of the video and shows 0bytes. thanks for your time
