I was just reading tonight in my Message Bible how God says that we should treat all foreigners fairly with kindness and respect. So that probably means that there wasn't any such thing as illegal immigration back then. I mean He really doesn't expect us to treat them kindly and fairly right?

Yes of course He means that. Just like Jesus did Himself.

All are God's children.

No offense Tessa I love you but you don't live in America. You don't have to deal with illegal immigration over there in the UK as far as I know. We've got huge problems with it over in the states.

You must be joking. We have the same problem here.
But I believe they are entitled to fairness and justice.
How can a Christian not treat anyone fairly? I suppose it depends what you mean by fairly

Really?? And by fairly I mean the terrorists who are literally trying to come over here to kill us. It's bad enough they're taking our jobs, but many of them are taking our lives and God expects us to treat them fairly? I'm not saying that they're all dangerous but a good majority of them are. That's why we can't let our right to bear arms disappear. Legal foreigners we should treat fairly I agree with you on that part but illegal foreigners? And how would we really know anyway?

That is the issue, what is "fair?" The OT passage April refers to is quite a bit different from the current situation we face. Ancient Israel didn't have have militant "cells" invading them, and terrorism wouldn't be invented for thousands of years.

The "strangers in their land" were much more like the destitute Jesus told us to help. Not unlike what we have inscribed on our Statue of Liberty.

Jesus didn't instruct us to confront someone wearing a suicide vest by committing suicide, although both our Nations have heroes that have covered up those explosions to save other's lives.

Government enforcing laws isn't addressed by the Bible. Having immigration law that differentiates those legally in a Country from those there illegally is perfectly within the dominion God gave our species. In terms of the fairness of those laws, both our Countries go incredibly easy on violators as compared to global standards. We're being taken advantage of.

Hold on!

Terrorists don't really come here to take our jobs. They always suspect they're being tracked by our IC, ( intelligence community; FBI, CIA, DHS, etc) so get a job and blend in for at least 5 years. Often they become US citizens before committing their crime. This skews the statistics, and hides how bad that problem really is.

Belgium, Sweden, Germany, France and the UK all have MUCH more of this going on than we do!

What we experience in large numbers is people simply walking across our southern border and living here illegally. It seems this has always happened throughout US history, and was often met with compassion. Which encouraged more to come ... and now we can't keep up with it and have a mess. These people aren't terrorists.

Two different things.

I didn't realise you were talking about terrorists April
There is a big difference in terrorists and illegal immigrants. Terrorists are not always illegal migrants.
I live in Manchester we have had many bombs here both from IRA and ISIS.

The Lord was not being short sighted when He said that in scripture, and He was absolutely correct. So anytime there is a confusion about something He said...it's guaranteed that it is us not understanding some aspect of it.

I think you actually left one crowd out. There's immigrants, illegal immigrants, and terrorists. We should treat them all fairly and with a perspective of love, for we do not wrestle with flesh and blood but with evil spirits and so forth, so even the terrorists which would attack you should be treated fairly and with love.

But for someone who is attacking you, this might mean killing him before he can harm you or others...out of love for your fellow man. It isn't really them, it is the evil spirits doing this through them, one day, they may just turn to the Lord! So don't kill them unless their comportments force you to.

Yeah you're right I'm sorry I worded that wrong. Illegal immigrants are the ones that are trying to take our jobs. Terrorists are the people who are trying to kill us. And I'm sorry but I'm not going to try and hug somebody who wants to kill me because that's just absolutely crazy to me. I'm not even much of a hugger in the first place, but why on earth would I show that act of kindness or any for that matter towards the kind of people who were responsible for 911?

Understand that the enemy is not the enemy in their own eyes. This may offer you a way to make him your friend. If not, you can kill him without hate, and quickly.

I only liked this post because of the part about killing them without hate. I would never make those kinds of people my friends.

I didn't say try to hug an attacker, lol. You gotta do what you gotta do when the balloon goes up.

Why would you show kindness or love to them?
Good Question.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. God is not willing that any should perish, Jesus died for the perpetrators of 9/11 too you know...You forgive them in your heart Sister. They're not attacking you right now. The threat has passed for the moment. Time to love again.
Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord.

I know and I did forgive them, for the process of forgiveness and hoping that sooner or later they will repent doesn't take away the fact that they are guilty and deserve to be punished. That's what I have come to learn from my time on here. They won't be any less guilty than they already are if I forgive them.

Exactly, Sister. It is largely...not our business to punish. That's God area of expertise, lol and He's a big boy and does it good.

As an aside, I would be careful about tossing out statements that you can not forgive and things like that. Do you not understand how powerful your words are and that they effect everything and everyone in the world?

When I was finding it hard to forgive my Sons for some bad things they did to me, I would state out loud that I do forgive them, to declare this truth to the universe and God. AN act of my will even though I could not feel forgiveness in my heart in at the time...
Now I do feel it and it is real. That's how it works. Our words and thoughts frame up our future, our heart and who we are and will become.

I know, I just plainly stated that I can and do forgive. That doesn't change the fact that what they did is wrong, I just don't hold hate and anger over it towards them anymore.

Fairly means that the foreigners, are subject to the same laws as the inhabitants of the land, in which they are not allowed to live in lawlessness, while the inhabitants are required to live lawfully.

If the law says they need to apply for citizenship if they want to live there then they need to abide by the law.

If the law requires that criminals who are foreigners are to be punished, just as the citizens, then they need to be subject to that punishment, just as the citizens.

These are just some of the precepts of being fair.

I would also like to add that the right to a fair trial when they do break the law I think would also be a very good example.

Of course it would, but when liberal democrat officials decide to hinder that due process of law, by warning the criminal foreigners to flee that due process, then that is not "fair".

It's lawlessness.

Pure and simple.

Oh, we give illegal aliens a trial all right. At HUGE taxpayer expense! We furnish them all room and board for months if not years, then pay their lawyer, and usually haven't deported them which means we pay them more.

That's why I wish we'd just turn them away at the border. It'd make everything so much simpler, and it'd stop people from trying.
