Yeah Edward.
I agree that it would be nice. But it wouldn't work.
Know why?
Man's sin nature.
It ruins everything!

Plus, you can't "will" someone to be a soulmate.
They either are or they aren't.
Like love.

Does a good spouse also have to be a soul mate?

Yep, man's sin nature did ruin it. It'll work in heaven though, the sin nature wont be there. SO everyone will be soulmates then. I guess that's why no marriage will be needed then either, lol.

Everybody just 'will be' when we're in heaven, but not here. It sure would be nice to have a spouse that was a soulmate, or at least had soulmate like qualities. A good spouse does not have to be a soulmate. My ex-wasn't my soulmate but she was a good wife. I'm sure there's prolly quite a few working marriages where they're not soulmates. Some people are just reasonable people. :idea

Now is probably an allowable time to make a comment or two.

Soul = mind, will, emotions?
Man became a living soul.

Genesis 2:7 KJV
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Man could walk talk think, but he seems not to have the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Man dealing with the serpent shows their lack of spiritual discernment IMHO ( even previous to the fall, and did the fall took place because they did not discern Satan's work).

If our tie with someone is just on a soul level IMHO we are not doing what Edward (?) said about Spirit mates (?).

The tree of the knowledge of good and evil seems to be on a soul level. If we just form relationships on sight, feelings, desires this is a soulmate (with soul ties - like a holiness lady preacher I know speaks of).

If a person thinks the soul is the spiritual part of man, then Adam sure did not exhibit his spiritual self. Get thee behind me Satan did not happen.

Now that I have lost all my friends......

A good mate chops the weeds at the spouse's feet. My wife has cut a few toes at times, but her intentions are good (at times lol).

Redneck - no finess .

Uhhh...Uhhhhhhh...I do believe that you're right, Brother. Good catch, lol. I may in fact have been talking about spirit-mates. I never heard of spirit-mates before, but your point is well taken. It's so easy to slip into the traditions of man and all the garbage that we were taught as youngsters.

A good mate will back up the spouse even when they're wrong about something. Life lessons can be discussed later, but for now firt things first.

Wow, this has to be true. It just rings loudly of the truth. Thought provoking too. What if...the extreme truth is that everyone could/should be our soulmates? Even non-romantic relationships too, for if we walk in total love to our Brothers and Sisters (and neighbors...everyone) as scripture says that we should...and they're walking in the same love, then the connection would have to be there. Actually even literally, spiritually. To be one spirit with another. Not just God, but everyone. What a nice world that would be. There'd be no welfare system, not even a court system probably. (Because the church would handle it).

The same way that Jesus walks, with love for all, especially our enemies...is how we are instructed to walk. Be like Jesus! Ok. Then everyone is a soulmate, right?

I agree.
one could have a great life-partner who is not really a soul mate but has all the basic and fundamental qualities that match and will make for a great marriage.

Just like someone could have a soul-mate with whom they might or might not be able to be married to. It's not even easy to explain what a soul mate is. I do find it very intriguing however, and have been thinking about it since this thread was opened a few months ago.
How does one express feelings? Maybe it's just a closeness you feel that is special and not felt with most persons you meet during life.

You know your ex-wife wasn't one, so you must understand what it is.
To me it's like that image. Not really romantic -- just an understanding and being together.

Hi Eddiff,
I didn't forget this...

I believe man is a three part being:
Body
Soul
Spirit

God breathed life into Adam. Since he was the first man and had no life and already had a body, God breathed a soul into him, and also a spirit. Our spirit is what identifies with God. He had this spirit until he sinned.

To this day we do not discern satan's work. We must become ever the more sensitive to it, but the world is trying very much to de-sensitize everyone. It's trying very hard to make everyone believe that anything goes and satan does not really exist, neither heaven nor hell.

A soul mate is for the SOUL. If that soul mate is also a believer, and both are, then they would be soul mates AND spirit mates. That would be perfect ! Our soul mate is not only based on sight, feelings and desires. This sounds more like a friend. Yes, maybe it does have to reach some spiritual level.

Adam did not exhibit the spiritual side of himself because satan is strong and we should respect that.
Also, maybe he wanted to keep Eve company in her sin? We cannot now for sure why he ceded to satan, we only know that he broke his covenant with God.

I like your last sentence. Good mates work together.
Redneck --- much finess !

I Corinthians 15:45 KJV
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

The King James translation is one translation, read the others too.

Adam was made a living soul.

Jesus was made a quickening spirit.

I will put my word in your hearts and minds. There sure seems to be:
A timeline
A process
A method

The OT scripture became a man. Jesus
The man Jesus became a quickening spirit.
He has been with you, and he will be in you. Do I completely understand this? No. The Godhead shares a general direction of thought, but each member has a separate existence.

My flesh exists (usually to my sorrow), but my new man has to put up with this body of death. My mind works on crucifying the body. My spirit is seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. So I do not make a good Pentecostal, or Presbyterian, or Baptist, or Catholic, or anything. Adam was a living soul. I crucify the flesh that he might work. The things I would do I don't .............

Adam (IMHO) did not have a Pentecost, while alive. Adam (the man) had the breath of life. The Jews had a Pentecost. The Gentiles had a Pentecost, Paul had a Pentecostal experience. I sat by a tub and had a Pentecostal experience. I sure do not have all the spiritual gifts. Some folks discern things I can't. They do not reach back to Adam to retrieve a gift lost. The Holy Spirit gives the gifts (put in some lousy folks at times). Sin does not have dominion over these lousy folks though, but a battle daily takes place.

Soulmate? Souped up soulmate? Spirit filled soulmate? I have sure gotten somewhere else.

Rednecks are just plain strange at times.

I've always been very curious about these female creatures amongst us, so paid close attention, lol. I've thought about this for years. There was a time in the early years of my marriage that we were very much in love and directed this love towards one another and a very curious thing happened. We became so close that we could talk without words being spoken. We could look at each other and know the others thoughts. For a little while, I thought we were soulmates, but I realized over time, that we were only in love with each other.

Love is a spiritual phenomenon. I believe it's the most powerful force in the universe. When two spirits are in love, they become as one. This extends to other than romantic joining, but that through the heart or spirit there is a connection there and it's no mythological mystic thing, it's very real, very powerful, and yet...very fragile connection. The thoughts and feelings that each have, the other knows because of the connection. They are...as one.

This love is sorta like a battery. It takes two poles to make a connection. Anytime you have two poles, you have connection. What people do not realize is that every thing they say and do towards one another serves to either build up that connection, or to tear it down. Everything. When connection is made from the two poles, there is an arc. A spark of energy (like shorting two wires together). It's at this time that the love flows. We have a reservoir of love within us, but it doesn't flow unless we give it away to another. Of course it is strongest with contact with one another (like when hugging) but it is not limited by contact. There's no amount of distance that would break connection. The only thing that can break the connection is when one pole shorts to ground. Which is to say that, one party disallows the connection by withholding love or refocusing it somewhere else. Many people are scared of real love. They don't want it because they say it is an invasion of their privacy, lol. (My ex said that).

We imprint on people, spiritually. This is the reason that we must be diligent in guarding our heart. We don't want to imprint people negatively, for it tears them down. Idle or casual words can have a big impact on people. Men will sometimes joke with their wives and put them down, that whole battle of the sexes thing. It's funny, ya' know, I was kiddin' honey...but you just blew a big hole in her heart. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. People know this instinctively. It may have been a joke, or not intended to do damage, but it just did.

Or so it seems to me...

Isaiah 55:8 KJV
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

So faced with the foreknowledge of this fact:
God made male and female. The image of difference is in creation, but the real important thing to realize is we are not like God (without God working in us).

Just look at male female differences as a quality teaching tool from God.

The love of God has at the least dual methods of expression:
Hugs
Swats.

Hugs to encourage / direct
Swats to correct / comfort / direct

To use a hoe in a garden you need skill. Removing weeds is what a hoe is for, and not cutting off toes or punching holes with the handle.

Your sons and daughters shall prophecy. Better believe that a lady with a hoe can be inspired to get the weeds from around others. Don't scream so loud.

Lol, yeah, my ex wife used to volunteer to clear the weeds from around me. I agree with you that Females/males/marriage is a teaching tool for us, a dry run if you will, for us to learn to walk in love. Not only with the marriage but towards all, like Jesus did. When we do it right, wonderful things happen and we have fulfilled the reason that we were created for. To walk in love. To give it away. We are wired for love. Hard-wired.

Wow, perchance I just accidently found a cool video on youtube where some doctor lady is talking about this very thing. She says we can rewire our brains to fire positive, and this brings love, good health, better relationships, and positions us to walk with God because God is love.
Every once in awhile Sid Roth has a real good guest on. :)

They (God) made man.

Adam and Eve had children. Hidden in all this is a knowledge of God.

Dr. Leaf and I both see some symbols the same. I tend to be more he does it, than we do it, but there is room for both. She has more letters after her name.

It could be I tend to use more of the law and prophets, and she uses a Gentile approach. That is funny in that I am a Gentile.

The truth is Jesus casts the shadows and he is the body / reality that it is all about. I am but grass. The image we are requires faith in him (lambs book of life).
