I'm not sure what to have made of this, but I'll relate the little story. I was walking down the sidewalk one day, and happened past some Hispanic gentlemen. For some reason one of them started looking at me directly (not in a threatening way). As I passed him, I said, "Hello" to him in Spanish. He smiled and said, "Hello" back.

I don't speak Spanish.

I had to look up what I said later. I suppose I could have learned the word "hola" subconsciously, listening to others speaking. It came out so naturally, just I don't know where it came from. My life seems to be sprinkled with things like this.

Sidenote: Did you know that John Wayne spoke fluent Spanish? Didn't know that (until just recently).

It might have had something to do with my brain injury. In my head, I remember telling my mouth to say the word, "Hello" in English, and was as surprised as he was when it came out, "Hola". Usually when I verbalize incorrectly, it's a completely incorrect word, like saying "lightbulb" instead of "brother". This time I translated, and correctly. Not a huge incident in my life, just something I remember.

I have classical symptoms of Traumatic Brain Injury: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, including Fibromyalgia, and Migraine headaches. I wake up more tired than when I went to sleep, go through opiate withdrawal every day (you run dry during the hours you've been asleep), and fight back the muscle pain all day (it does taper off and usually drops off completely around midnight). If migrainey, I might stay in bed unless the Imitrex kills it. I usually start my "day" with a Starbuck's, but this could be any time from 5 am to 8 at night. Fun times. I also drop a pain med "cocktail" every 2.5 hours during waking hours (there's an app for that).

That's tough :sad

Do you get angry about it? I think I would...

Someday you will have a new body, without blemish. :)

Just keep holding on.

I have specific problems with anger. Not just due to what I go through (and knowing the person who caused it and refuses to apologize), but because anger is a typical issue with frontal lobe injury victims (it even has an unofficial name amongst care-givers, "going frontal"). I had a good, long session just today. Didn't kill anybody, fortunately. A big portion of my life is A. Management.

Thank you! I think the thing that gives me the most hope is prayer, esp. if from several people.

Sounds to me like you picked up the word hola somewhere and stored it in your subconscious memory until you needed it, and then it just came blurting out. It probably is one of the most common Spanish words you would encounter (outside of perhaps taco and burrito :lol) When I was married to a woman from Mexico and learned Spanish I found that happening all the time. When I would just relax and let the words flow, I could carry on a normal conversation with them all. I found I would even dream in Spanish when down there and totally immersed in it. So even now that I'm not around it much any more I find that when I see someone who speaks Spanish, even if they speak English too, sometimes the Spanish words will just come blurting out even though I didn't intend for it to happen. So this could be what happened to you even though you don't remember actively trying to learn hola.

As for speaking in tongues (as in the spiritual gift) when it is a known language spoken to a person, I don't think this was the gift. It doesn't seem like God would use this gift in you just to say hello to someone without something more included to somehow give a message, probably the gospel message, to this person.

Tongues is an amazing gift for all believers. As with everything from God you receive it by faith. Hello can be learned from Dora the Explorer though and one knows what is tounges and what is not.

I have spoken in tongues for years, and just me praying in tongues it's a certain language all the time. For me to speak like German to someone I would definitely catch that.

I too suffer from anger.....buttons get pushed ....triggers get activated......mine is from childhood trauma/abuse. I feel for you. I'll pray the Lord heals you.

Of course the first thing I thought of was the word getting stored in my subconscious, and unloading at the opportune moment. It didn't really feel that way. I still think it was something else.

Then it probably was something else.......When I was a teenager....I would long to spend time with the Lord to be away from the abuse. I would sit outside and something would make me feel the Lord was close.......when I would get that feeling , the wind would blow very strong right where I was.........in my older age I honestly feel He was letting me know I wasn't alone and that He was indeed close. There was a book that came out in the 70s.....I think it was titled Like a Mighty Wind. Try and look it up. I think you might enjoy it.
