Anybody surprised? I'm not. It's obvious when you look at the size of Bonds and Giambi compared to their rookie pictures - no way they could bulk up that much without some help. It's a shame that Marion Jones is also implicated. I saw the interview with the trainer that gave the 'juice' to Giambi, Jones, and Bonds - he seemed to indicate that 'everyone' was using them - that Jones's 5 medals in the Olympics are not questionable because it's almost a given that her opponents were using them too!

Very sad day for sports. But this day has been a long time coming.

If the Babe would have put down the hotdogs and beer and instead took steriods, I'll bet the single season homerun record would be about 100.

As far as Bonds goes, he's either a liar or the dumbest athlete to ever walk the face of the earth. And I've never had the impression that he's not that bright.

I've always said that if there was drug testing in all major sports, we likely wouldn't have any major sports.

No record should stand when steriod use is proven.

Every kid today is going to think that if he doesn't use steriods, he won't be able to compete at the pro level. the sad part is that is probably true. Baseball is a dieing sport anyways.

You know what bothers me? Now they're lumping McGwire in with Bonds as people who used steroids, which isn't true. While Bonds used steroids and is killing the ball waaay past his prime and has done something worse than betting on the game in my opinion, McGwire simply took a supplement called Creatin... and his body acted like a normal person's would - it got older as he got older.

Ugh... McGwire should hold the single season record for HRs and Bonds should be stricken from the record books. As should all other players who used steroids.

Actually, McGuire took 'Andro' which is in the 'steroid, but not really a steroid' category. I still think that Andro is a 'performance enhancing drug' and should be banned from baseball - as it is banned from other sports. Creotin is a protein-based formula (as far as I know) and is not derived from hormones.

McGuire, Bonds, etc. should have asterisks by all their home run numbers.

I'm not aware of McGwire taking Andro, but if he did, he should be stricken also.

About 3 years ago I won a contest at the Gold's gym in Central Oregon.

The winner (which was me) received 1500 dollars worth of supplements.

The guy that used to be an American Gladiator called "Lazer" on the televison show came to the gym and delivered the supplements.

He was a rep for the Apex supplements group.

He congratulated me on winning. He told me all the supplements were non steroid. He said that all they did was aid your body in producing things it already did natrurally.

He gave me several extra bottles of Andro and told me that they were safe, legal, and as harmless as Creatine.

I also won a 12 week training session with the best personal trainer in the gym. I put on 15 pounds of muscle in 6 weeks. I had to buy new clothes and I felt great.

The trainer was astounded at how fast I responded. I was on a bodybuilding diet and the gym gave me all the protein drinks and energy supplements I wanted for free.

Not one person in the gym thought that the stuff I was using was harmful or that it would do that much.

Most people in the gym believed my gains were due to intense training and the diet I was on and I did to.

I had no idea that the andro was a precursor steroid. I was also taking several other enhancers provided by the gym that I can't remember the names of and it was all given to me for free.

Later I was told that the stuff I was taking coupled with the andro worked the same way as dianabol which is a powerful steroid.

I have never used steroids in my life nor would I want to. I use Creatine and Whey protein and that is it.

Now Andro is to become illegal.

When I ran out of the stuff it felt like I died. I was tired and despondent.

I was not aware of the side effects of this stuff when I took it. Fortunantely the "let down" only lasted a couple of weeks.

No one knew that any of this stuff was not good for us when we took it back then.

I will never take any supplement other than vitamins, creatine, and protein powder again.

I was 52 years old when I won the contest. I am 55 now.

Moral of the story.

Just because something is legal doesn't make it safe or right to take.

Wow! Thanks for sharing bb. I figured that Andro was illegal for a reason and now I know why! I enjoy lifting weights, but I've never thought it necessary to use creatin or other 'bulk-up' formulas. My goal is not weight gain and/or muscle bulk - just staying fit. Sounds like you really enjoy lifting and, had I not read your posts in this forum and seen you in a dark alley, I would probably be shaking in my boots. But I'm glad you are on my side! :)

I don't think you would be intimidated by me at all.

I do love weight training. It has been a life long hobby.

God bless,

Robert

Now we can all look back and see that the owners knew about it all along but kept quiet because baseball was being revitalized and the owners were making millions.
