Today I was to receive my hp Windows 7 laptop back from, hp shipped back from Lavergne Tennessee, but it never showed up. So upon looking at the FedEx tracking again. I saw that it had been delivered so I call FedEx and finds out that it had been delivered to the wrong address. So I call Hewlett Packard and find out that someone from Philadelphia a female, called and did a shipping address change update. This person who signed for it is a B Hunter, from west Philadelphia, on 57th street. They have had my laptop since the 21st or 22nd. I was so upset and angry. How did this person know that I had a laptop in repair, I don't even know this person. So hp has to give me a new laptop. I asked them to put the police on this person because they have the delivery address. And because they did that using FedEx it is a federal crime. So this person or persons has my e-mail addresses, and God knows what else, I did not put to much very important stuff on that laptop. But I feel very, very violated, and very angry. They must be very stupid knowing that they had to give an address and had to sign for it, and hp knows where it was sent. I told hp this was not my fault, I sent my laptop which is still under warranty to you guy's for repair, and it comes up missing. Now the case manager who is handling my case said that I should get another one as soon as the administration approves it. Which should not be a problem. But I have to wait until Monday or Tuesday to hear back from hp. In the meantime I am still very, very angry. I am a male so how could you let a female call and make a address change, her name is not Lewis Williams, I don't get that.
So what are these people doing hacking into peoples computers, or hacking into computer chat support, because chat support asks you not to send credit card information when you are doing chat support. So I wonder just how secure chat support is. I used chat support about 4 times while my notebook was being repaired. So that is what my day has been like.

Today I got the address of the this culprit or culprits and I google mapped the address, and I looked at a close up street view of the first floor apartment. It is in my old neighborhood, but the thing is, I don't know these people. I also know her last name and the first letter of her first name, because she had to sign when she received it, and when she diverted it through hp, she had to give a name and address. So I want her or whoever prosecuted. And Hewlett Packard should have not let that happen, she was a female, when did they start naming females Lewis. Hewlett Packard told me that on the 19th she called and did a address update change, and diverted my laptop. Unless God tells me to let them go I want them prosecuted. I wish I could take the cops right to their door, but I have to wait on hp. The case manager that hp has given me, told me that he has contacted the police. I know that fooling around with mail is a federal crime.

Seriously, though. Keep us updated. With so many stories that don't end well, it would be great to hear a happy ending. Would you have someone scrub it to see what they did with it, documents they viewed, personal websites they visited with critical information? That's what I'd be worried about. I'd also make a plea to HP to replace your rig. They might even upgrade you!
 
The case manger said that he will replace it and that he does not see a problem with that. He said the only thing that he has to do is get permission from the front office. They are at fault, not I so they have to give me another one.

Yeah, you said that. But I'd still be worried about identity theft.
 
that law tampering with mail also applies to the shippers that are private?

really. i hope it does. as i order stuff online and ups often drops it off without a signature a time or two.

all they are usually are is car parts and tires but still.
 
Yeah Jason they will drop stuff off without someone being home, at least UPS will.
what this person has done to me is intercept my laptop. I wonder if I was hacked or hp was hacked, and or was it a inside job by one of the workers ? This women's name is not Lewis ??????? so why would they let her make some changes, and her name is B Hunter. And this B Hunter is who signed for it. Now when I made hp yesterday give me her address, I was able to google map the apartment right to the front door. I drive by that building on a constant basis, but I don't know one soul in there. Now as far as security issues yes I am worried about that, and I am going to discuss that with hp, even though now it is to late. Because if they are any good with computers they can get what they want out of it. Unless God tells me otherwise, I want to prosecute.

Lets use some common sense. You say that this gal was your neighbor. I would think that it's safe to say that when she was your neighbor, she somehow had access to your computer. How, I don't know. Maybe you had an unsecured wireless connection and she did a UNC into your maches and planted a keystroker. Who knows, but one thing is sure, she has your account information for your e-mail.

Now, when you contacted HP, they sent you a confirmation e-mail. If this gal has been logging into your e-mail, then she also has been following your laptop. At this point, I think it's safe to say that if your chat with HP support was hacked, it was probably done through a keylogger etc by your neighbor how had access to your system when it was not secured. But I still kinda get the idea she's been reading your e-mail for awhile. I do hope you've changed your password...

Ok, so this brings us to how HP handled your situation. This gal obviously knew enough about you to divert your laptop to her house. Agreed, she's stupid... I mean, real stupid. Stupid enough to be on the worlds stupidest criminals if you ask me. But that's the point Lewis. Lets say that you moved, and you asked your wife or girlfriend to call HP and have your shipment redirected. If they did that, you'd say, "What great customer service"! If they didn't, you would complain that their customer service was a pain.

So, what are the chances that stupid criminals are going to steal a shipment with a path that leads right to their door? And if so, how hard is it to track and prosecute? I can see why HP would want to provide a great customer experience and allow this change in address as I"m sure this happens many times through the year with little to no theft.

BTW, when you sent your laptop in, they have a disclaimer that they are not responsible for your data, and that you should have a backup of all your data.
 
Yeah I think that it was done by key logging, not this person had it sent to a place around the corner from where I grew up. I found out today that Fed Ex just left the package there. I have get a tooth pulled at the VA, but when I get back I am going to research this key logging thing. They also know that we are looking for them. I have to prevent this from going on again. When I get my next laptop I will install this free program on it. check it out here, I suggest all of you to install this program called Prey.

That's crazy stuff! Did I read right? You can actually have the laptop take a picture of the person in front of it who stole it? Don't let the conspiracy folk hear about this technology. Maybe the U.S. government is taking my picture right now! :biggrin
 
Jason that is for the military, a lot has changed from the time that I was in there. I would imagine that it is very secure, but I don't think none active people can use that service. Am I wrong or right ?

if you are getting pay from dod.you can.that is how i check my les.

and change direct deposit.

lewis, in your day you did the report to pay and physically got cash.
 
Yeah but we had to go down to the pay master head quarters every 2 weeks, and my wife was getting sent money automatically every time I got payed. But i can't use that site now.
 
are you disabled? you use the va for a lot.

if you dont mind me asking. i know that bush changed the rules.

i am old enough to remember the pay cage the units i was in had(we didnt use them but they were still there)
 
Ronald Reagan did the major changes, like now if you go to the VA hospital in Coatsville PA, which is the second largest psychiatric and drug & alcohol treatment center that the Government has except for the one in Springfield Missouri. You will get processed food, they closed the bowling alley up there, the swimming pool was closed the last time that I was up there, many, and I mean many of the programs are closed up there. We use to get feed up there the same good food that we use to get in a mess hall, but not now. And the answer to your other question is no I am not classified as disabled yet, I am going to have to fight them. But if you stayed in more than 180 days in the service, and you did not get a dishonorable discharge, and you don't have medical insurance outside of the VA, they have to take care of you. All the care that I have received from the VA ,is in the hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years. Anything I need even equipment they give it to me. Now when it comes to your teeth they want you to be 100% disabled to get full dental care. But if you are in pain they will pull the tooth but they will not do any fillings without special orders. I have been operated on in there 2 times, in drug treatment in there to many times to count. When I run out of medication I go online to VA.gov and my medication is mailed to me, as a matter of fact I have to do that today. I have been using the VA since 1980.
 
one of the few that like govt run healthcare then. i have had mixed experciences.

i have heard of them pulling a tooth rather then filling it.

well then,if that was the case for me, i would have bubba teeth for a grill.
 
No Jason the Philadelphia VA is over run it takes care of South East PA, and it takes care of South NJ, and it takes care of North Delaware. Many times when you go there, it will be a all day affair. The Philly VA takes on to much, so a lot of times thinks aren't what they should be down there. Because anytime you are overwhelmed mistakes happen, and they do down there. And the fact that they have to deal with many vets who are out of their minds. I saw a dude down there take off everything except his socks in the waiting room and walk outside and down to the parking lot butt naked. But many of the staff come from across the street at one of the most famous and oldest hospitals in the country, The University Of Pennsylvania also many doctors get trained there. Also sometimes they will contract my care out to another place if I have a special need and they pay for it. I am tired of going there though and I am going to start going to civilian places again for my health care, and just use the VA for certain things.
