I finally have a copy of windoze 10 that has become stable but please, do not jump for joy. My latest unit was built to run windoze 8 and was also unstable with only 6 gigs of RAM. When 10 went in it was much worse.

My building days are over and today I am putting together a Raspberry Pi 2 becaus3e everything is built and it is a matter of waiting for the parts and to plug them in. And this is for a File Server and emergency use primarily.

But I did some Lap Top work for a friend and he wanted to give me fifty and I talked him into picking an eight gig stick for his and for mine bringing his to ten gig and mine to twelve and both, being unstable before have become rock solid on both units.

I have forever and will continue begging windoze users to download the free Virtual Box followed by a copy of Mint, Ubuntu or one of the many other free Linux Distros to try them out. I found it works well with 12 gigs of RAM.

Bill, I've been using Windows 10 for several months on both a laptop and desktop, each with 8 gig of RAM. I've had no trouble.\

However, I have installed Ubuntu on my laptop for a dual boot system. I had tried Linux several years ago but couldn't find a compatible CAD program, which I needed for my business. Since I've now sold the company, I no longer need CAD, I'll try it again, and maybe there is an open source version of CAD now anyway.

I'll not lie to you Mike, I have no use of a CAD but have seen a couple that are built for the linux system. My one program is th free alternative to Photo Shop, GIMP. GIMP (Graphic Image Manipulation Program) does my minor graphic works as well as my major Photo work. It is lightening fast in any Linux Distro and works in windoze but it takes enough time to grab a nap when loading in windoze because of the nasty and never cleaned kernel MY is still adding to instead of replacing.

But a dual boot is the best of both worlds as long as people remember not to load windoze last.

I've been wanting to build my wife a gaming style computer for a while yet.

Where we aren't planning on playing games on it but one computer to have remote "desktop" locations in the house with monitors etc is what I've been aiming for. And she is used to having two monitors at work but wants three on her desk at home.

I told her that I wanted to put Linux on it instead of Windows... She about had a fit.

She loves ms office.
Tell me that there is something compatible with office... Please!

I have an old machine with 2 GB RAM. 10 has been working fine (and faster than 7) for almost a month now.

Any of the major Linux Distros run Wine and wine runs MS OFFICE as native. Peace Bro!

Willie, glad to hear it but that means your running a 32 bit machine of possibly a 64 bit machine with a 32 bit system on it. The issue is all software is loosing some projected profit by having to write inclusive structure into their software to include the limited 32 bit systems operating limitations into their software. No only does teh company loose profit but every user pays more for the software and the 32 bit OS works on the 64 bit systems but the windows unit never use more than 3.5 gig of the membry and 32 bit Linux, Unixv and BSD OSs will never use more that 4 gig, no matter how much is inserted.

I have always worked to go faster and more efficiently and my 12 gig machine is fast and one day I'll so some work and they will pay me with another 8gig stick and my machine will be maxed out. And I can hear you! It matters to anyone like me that works with videos, Photographs, and music. For surf1ng the web and for writing documents and books, the old and disappearing 32 bit systems are cool but for serious digital works, we need all the RAM possible because the manufacturers are awaking and realizing nerds like myself are teaching people they are not limited by their Processor Speed.

Shoot, the unit my wife and my nerd daughter bought me is an AMD A4-5000 APC clocked at 1.5 gig and it runs like a rabbit running down a steep hill covered with banana peelings.

Indeed! Having MS Office Suite is VERY important to me. I find almost any other setup SO lacking by comparison.... especially "WORD."
